There's no need to add the second URL as an external link as long as it's just a redirect to the first URL. The day the second address ''actually'' becomes the main web address for the station, it'll get changed here, but until then it's just unncessary and pointless to provide two different external links to the same page. ] (]) 05:39, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
== Original network/channel for Mad Men ==
The original channel listing in the infobox for Mad Men is designed to list the channel that first broadcast the program ''in its country of origin only'', not the first channel to show it in every country that broadcasts it. That means the only channel that should be listed there is AMC. Based on a bit of quick research, it appears A-channel was not the first channel to show "Mad Men" in Canada, just the first to show Season Two, which also makes the addition of the channel to the infobox inaccurate.
Do not continue to add Canadian broadcast info to the infobox, or it will be reverted, and may result in your being reported for vandalism. Instead, Canadian broadcast information can be included in a new section on International broadcasts if you'd care to start one. Many TV show articles have them; check around and see how they're done. ] (]) 13:58, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

It'll get done at the right time, don't worry about that. And yes, that includes ASN; we basically just need to wait and see if the actual brand name that rolls out on Monday is "A Atlantic" or "A Maritimes". ] (]) 16:45, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly{{#if:A (TV system)|, as you are doing at ]}}. If you continue, you may be ] from editing Misplaced Pages. Note that the ] prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for ], even if they do not technically violate the ]. Rather than reverting, discuss disputed changes on the talk page. The revision you want is not going to be implemented by edit warring. == Re ] ==
Hi there... In the ] article, there isn't much justification for discussing ] in the intro at the same prominence as CTV. Even though A is a broadcast network, it isn't national, and right now I believe it has a much smaller audience than other CTVgm channels like TSN or the Discovery Channel. In any event, all of these channels technically fall under the CTV division of CTVglobemedia.
To simplify things I would prefer to just describe the TV division as "CTV" in the intro, followed by the more detailed description which already follows in the very next section.
So I'm reverting your reversion of my changes. If you need further clarification / advice, please let me know. Thanks! — <span style="border-bottom: 1px solid #0000aa;"><font face="Arial" style="background: #ffffff; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none;" color="#000000">]</font></span> || ] || 16:19, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
==A website== | |||
Could you please hold off on changing the website URLs until they've ''actually'' been changed over by the network? As of right now, "atv.ca" still takes you to ] and "aonline.ca" goes to ] no matter what city you stick in the address. Please don't change the addresses until they ''actually'' lead to the correct website for the topic. Thanks. ] (]) 20:46, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
==Cold Case - International Broadcasters==
Please consult ] regarding "other websites have this". Misplaced Pages is not a tv guide and other articles should probably be pruned as well regarding this.--] (]) 12:42, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
:Have you read any of the commentary I gave in my edit summaries or here? The fact that other wiki articles have a list of international broadcasters does not mean they should or that the Cold Case article should. Please see ] about this. Also read ] while you are at it. Misplaced Pages is not a tvguide or an indiscriminate collection of information. There has been discussion about international broadcasters a year ago, you might want to read up on that here: ]. Please stop re-adding this information. I have also removed the information in the article you quoted.--] (]) 05:40, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
== A as a network == | |||
A television '''network''' has to cover a majority of the country, as television '''system''' doesn't.
Extracted from ]: | |||
''A television system is a Canadian term for a group of television stations which share common ownership, branding, and programming, but are not considered a full television network.
In current practice, a television system may be either a small group of stations with common branding, such as E!, '''A''' or Citytv, or a regional group of stations within a larger network, such as CTV Atlantic, CTV Northern Ontario, or CBC North, which are legally licensed as multiple stations but effectively act as a single station for programming, branding, and advertising sales purposes.''
Also the A article is A (TV system), not A (TV network). --'''] (] • ])Formerly '''Pikachu90000'''''' 04:04, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
: Incidentally, just so you know, a network also has to have an actual '''network license''' issued to it '''by the CRTC'''. If you can provide a link to A's network license, then Misplaced Pages articles will quite happily describe A as a network. But until you can show that, no dice. (And I'll give you a free clue: A doesn't have one, so don't waste too much time looking for it.)
: This is also your final warning to drop the "I know more than you" attitude and start working ''with'' other editors. '''One''' more step out of line and you'll be whining about how much smarter you are than anybody else on Misplaced Pages from the wrong end of a 24-hour editblock. Hell, maybe even 48 hours if you push your luck far enough. ] (]) 05:58, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
::Again: the definition of a network '''requires''' (a) national service, (b) the stations that air its programming are '''not''' all owned by the same company as the network itself, (c) a '''network license from the CRTC'''. Maybe 24 hours out will make you more inclined to listen to other editors and to work with them instead of this attitude of entitlement you've decided to cop. See you Tuesday. ] (]) 14:34, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
:::Insulting a site administrator isn't the best strategy for making yourself a respected contributor around here. Say hello to the business end of a 48 hour block. ] (]) 04:06, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
==International broadcasters==
Please stop adding tables of international broadcasters to tv-series articles. These are not encyclopedic. You can read an older discussion about this ]. Please also read ]. If you continue to simply reinsert them without any form of talk on talk pages, this can be considered disruptive editing and you might be blocked for a longer time.--] (]) 10:43, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
:Please stop adding these and read the links I gave you. Next time I will post a warning.--] (]) 21:22, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
::Please stop asking for explanations on every article's talkpage. I have given you my reasons on various occassions and they are all here on your talkpage as well. Please leave it be.--] (]) 14:16, 27 August 2008 (UTC) |
