We also need to be very careful about the general mindset of "Yeah, he's a jerk but he does good work". The problem is when people act like that, they cause a lot of extra headache for a lot of people and drive away good people who don't feel like dealing with it. Those are the unseen consequences that we need to keep in mind." --] (]) 22:51 5 February 2008

This is gonna seem like I'm jumping down your throat, but I'm really not trying to. <s>I have a few questions about that close</s>. Hmmm. I've written and rewritten the first questions a few times and I can't seem to come up with anything that suits me, so here goes. I don't think that should have been closed as keep, but I can see where you could have thought so. I'm curious, then, to see what would have made you close that debate as delete, given the large number of keep voices in it? Was it your opinion that sources exists, and so notability was satisfied? Or was it your opinion that the vast majority of editors probably can't be wrong about sourcing existing? I should point out that you are under no...um...obligation to answer those questions. I'm not trying to press you or act as though I can demand an explanation. Lastly, do you think a DRV would be an appropriate route for this close, or do you think that would be fruitless? Thanks for your time. ] (]) 14:19, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

: The consensus at the AfD were in favor of keeping the article. There were numerous procedural/speedy keep comments on the basis that the original rationale for deletion was incorrect, and I am in agreement with that.
] ] • ] 06:46, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
: The rationale that the article should be deleted because it "lacks reliable sources" but is "probably notable" is essentially the same as saying, "the article needs cleanup more so than deletion, but this is a good tool to get that done." That's not what AfD is for, but if you feel like the deletion was improper, ] is the way to go. <small>] &#x007C; ] &#x007C; ]</small> 14:24, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
::That's fair. I do want to note that the wording of the nomination was probably the result of the nominator's misunderstanding rather than a misreading of what AfD is there for. further down the bottom of the AfD (after I asked him to come back and clarify), he notes why he used the word "notable". Thanks for responding. I'm not sure I'll file a DRV because I don't think that you were '''wrong''' in any procedural sense. I guess I'll think about it. Thanks! ] (]) 14:27, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Custom signature fix needed

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. Changes to Misplaced Pages's software have made your current custom signature invalid.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error or obsolete HTML tags.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, you can fix your signature, or you can do nothing.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (Do not click the red "Restore all default settings" button, which will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)

Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Click the Learn more button next to the error to learn how to fix the error.
  3. Update your signature to fix the error.
  4. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.

Solution 3: Do nothing:

  1. In accordance with a recent request for comment, all invalid signatures will be changed to the default, which looks like "Example (talk)", one month from now.

If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Misplaced Pages talk:Signatures. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:05, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
