You obviously don't know the history of Procol Harum;Robin Trower was replaced by Dave Ball,Dave Ball was replaced by Mick Grabham(ex of Cochise).To delete someone because you don't find their name in a Wikki article is to assume the article is the only source of information on a subject and I would appreciate you not acting to edit things you are ignorant of...Huneric

::A single letter could easily have a redirect, for instance if we decide that the ] article should be a redirect to ] instead of the other way around. A space should be added for clarity, but I've seen redirects that have omitted the space and they work just fine. ::We have ] redirecting to a single letter by that name. Even ] has two incoming redirects (] and ]), and ] has ] redirecting to it. There are probably many more examples. :::The bot could read the contents of the page and check for the word "#redirect" and delete if it cant fint it. This could mean size cap can be further increased. --] ] 10:39, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
::::That's a valid point, although it's hard to define exactly what the shortest valid stub would be. The best thing might be a hybrid manual/automated approach... the bot runs in the background and beeps when it finds something suspicious (for instance, a newly created article with obscenities in it), displays the text and prompts for a decision. Then you take a quick glance at it, type "y" or "n" and then go back to your other work, and it continues in the background. -- ] 11:17, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

:I'm not convinced it's really necessary. For one thing, I'd prefer to think of the bot as a temporary necessity pending a Mediawiki software fix, and if so, getting a permanent account seems premature. Also the main reason to get a separate account for bots is because they make a large number of edits that aren't all checked individually, so we need to distinguish bot edits from human edits. This particular bot doesn't edit articles at all and has only made a dozen or so blocks so far, so keeping track of what it has done doesn't really pose any problems. So at the moment I'm not seeking a separate account for it. -- ] 06:14, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

Well, Curps, the fact is that I made an accurate observation of the social dynamic of Misplaced Pages that is dead-on. There are a lot of very intelligent and accomplished people on Misplaced Pages, but there's also the contingent I described: resentful, bitter life failures who use Misplaced Pages as an outlet for their loser-fuckery. For whatever reason, a number of them embarked on a mission to defame both a card game I invented and, further, my character. All of this was entirely unnecessary. Regardless of his background, if Lotsofissues engages in that campaign, then he is as much a loser-fucker as the rest of them. I would support this policy if enforcement were consistent. Curps, I wonder if I may pick your brain about a technical matter I trust you've a much better shot at solving than I. It concerns Sam Hocevar's godmode rollback tool. There's a bug in it that adds the ampersand (&) Unicode in some reverts , , . It adds it when the text contains "&". (Incidentally I've noticed the same problem in blogging software, such as when one adds url's to the NYT or WaPo). This is annoying because one then has to go back and manually correct the additions, which often damage the text.

I blocked Jayh2724 by username not by IP address. There was no way for me to know what IP address or ISP he used or what part of the world he is in... that information isn't available to admins. Because of the way Misplaced Pages software works, when a username is blocked, the underlying IP address is also blocked for a time (but, again, this is done internally, and the IP address is not revealed to the admin who places the block). There is no way to avoid this and just block the username... perhaps the software should allow this, but that's something only the developers can change. -- ] 16:43, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

Privacy concerns
Hi, Curps. I recently edited User talk:Curps/archive21 to remove my real name from the page. I have reason to be concerned about my online privacy lately, and this page listed my real name in a format that is easily found with a simple Google search. I apologize for editing your user space directly, but I hope you can forgive the intrusion. Thanks, — Amcaja (talk) 02:18, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Wang Qi
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Wang Qi, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Misplaced Pages is not" and Misplaced Pages's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion nomination of Yasukazu Ikari
A tag has been placed on Yasukazu Ikari requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. NW (Talk) 21:49, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Gaston m'enfin.gif
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Gaston m'enfin.gif. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Misplaced Pages constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 18:03, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity
Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Misplaced Pages:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. Notice of change
Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that you will not longer be able to request restoration of the tools because of your prior inactivity. You have until December 30, 2012 to request restoration or else the policy will prevent you from doing so in the future; you would need to seek a new WP:RFA. Until December 30, you can file a request at WP:BN for review by the crats. Thank you. MBisanz 04:22, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Pelageya Shajn
The article Pelageya Shajn has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

ArbCom elections are now open!
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of Zaurac
Hello Curps,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Zaurac for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Replaceable non-free use File:90 Antiope.gif
Thanks for uploading File:90 Antiope.gif. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Misplaced Pages. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vitaium (talk) 12:56, 19 June 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:90 Antiope.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Vitaium (talk) 13:01, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
