Hi, I am also involved in the task of getting the Republic of Giambi re-instated onto Misplaced Pages. We disagree with the changes to the ] page. All of the edits we made were useful and there was no second agenda. The article "as is" really does not provide much value at all. For example, many users have requested links to current directories that list Shopping Cart Software programs. The one there now, which links to the Open Directory Project, is not useful since that list is incomplete and outdated. We had researched and added several useful links. In addition, the list of pros and cons to Licensed vs. Hosted solutions was useful and accurate. I don't understand why removing it would improve the article. To the contrary, you removed information that can certainly be useful.

:More often than not, the reason questions and answers are removed are not as a result of Yahoo Answers staff, but of it's users. At times, the violation email you receive is automatically generated, and based on what the user(s) selects as a reason when he/she reports you (chatting/insulting others/spamming etc), this is the reason that will appear within the Yahoo violation email as well.
:] ]
:If enough users report a question/answer, it will be removed automatically, sometimes within minutes. Some people have multiple accounts, as Y!A permits up to 10 accounts per IP address. With that said, if a person with several accounts also happens to be a Report Troll, he or she is able to do as they please and create problems for others. Persons who abuse the report button are documented, and over time will lose their reporting power. Also, Yahoo Answers keeps track of its members Thumbs Up/Down ratio automatically, which in turn can also effect ones reporting validity.
:Yahoo Answers does not have the man power to look into every reported question/answer, hence the auto-violation email. Based on the experiences of many users...deleted questions/answers are usually a direct result of vindictive angry users with nothing better to do than troll and report other users, sometimes resulting in account suspensions.'''

Man, I tell you...I just give up. Short of rangeblocking each and every one of his IPs or his becoming incapacitated is going to keep this little freak off of this site, so we'll just have to tag and bag the socks and hopefully take a break for another couple of months. I locked down his pet Eloise article for the next six months and I'll do likewise to every one he decides to mess up from now on. If there's any good thing to be said about him, he's consistent in his choice of articles and he'll be easy to lock out for at least a little while, assuming he doesn't suddenly decide to switch to other topics. So, now that we're at the start of baseball season, Eloise will be safe until roughly the World Series. :) --] (]) 00:11, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

=== removal of AY Online form the Aylesbury page ?? ===

] from the past month (September 2024).
Hi there,

]
Thanks for your kind message to us.
I have read this all and am happy with what you have said.
However, I have one question. Whilst AY online can't have it's own page that I understand but we are well known in our town and it IS A FACT that Mix 96 is the radio station, Bucks Herald is the local paper and AY Online is the online information web site that covers all areas of town life.
It is true that there are some other town information sites run by the council and one or two others but none cover all areas of our town except AY Online.
I know this is a self proclaimed fact, but it is the case.

Please can you help me understand why this has been removed from the Aylesbury Article ?

] '''Guideline and policy news'''
It could be argued that Mix 96 is 'advertising' since BBC 3 counties radio also covers Aylesbury, or the Bucks Herald is 'advertising', as Aylesbury is also covered by other printed news publications.

We have been going for over two years and are pretty well established here, so we are not a brand new organisation. We are simply not well known outside our town so there is little material on the web or in print about us. This is due to the fact that we do not bother to engage or promote ourselves outside of the context of Aylesbury.

Thank you

For this . Since they're hopping from one sock to the next, those articles really need to be locked. Cheers, 2601:19E:4180:6D50:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 05:21, 6 April 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Misplaced Pages, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:13, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
