I'm new to this and would really appreciate some help understanding how to add a second image or logo to an existing infobox. The infobox is located on the http://en.wikipedia.org/Renegade_(band) page. It's using "{{Infobox musical artist" now. That infobox is perfect, but I would like to add the band's logo above the picture. I tried adding the following line: "| logo = ]", but it didn't even appear on the page. I tried using the same "| Img = logoname.png" code style that's being used for the image, but that didn't work either. Can you please tell me how to do that? I happened to find some videos on the Searl Effect Generator on youtube and when I did a general web search I was surprised not to find an article in the Wiki. Then I found that it had been deleted. I am not familiar with the deletion policy although I have read it. I feel that a phenomenon such as this, although fairly clearly in the realm of impossible pseudoscience, still should have an entry (as well as one for John Searl), just to provide a point of reference. I would be willing to try to recreate at least a stub page with a brief description, or perhaps the deleted page could be partially restored. I see no reason not to do so, unless perhaps the advocates of the SEG would use it to promote their fantasies (and perhaps attempts to fraud people). ] (]) 09:18, 2 September 2012 (UTC) |

Yes that helps a little. I realize there's no image yet, but I need to know how to add another image or logo parameter to that infobox so I can add another image. If you take a look at the infobox at http://en.wikipedia.org/Compact_disc you'll see that it has both a provision for a logo and an image. That's what I want to do. I suspect that means I have to add a logo parameter to the infobox I'm using, but I don't know how. Can you tell me how to add the parameter? :Thank you for notifying me, Tremello22. However, I have actually been monitoring the discussions at Gary's (and, to a lesser extent, Blackworm's) talk page with interest. On the 4th of June I Gary to discuss his concerns with me here. He has not done so, for reasons that only he knows, but has instead repeated his claims in several talk pages. ::Hello Jake. First let me assure you that I have had every intention of coming here and talking with you. Second I don't want you to think I have something personal against you or some kind of crusade to get you banned from wikipedia. It might help if I first go over my motivations. Recently I have become aware that you seem to be heavily involved in convincing others of the merits of circumcision. I knew you were passionate from our previous discussions but had no idea of the extent. I commend you for you dedication but it paints you in a difficult position. Your bias, whether intentional or not, seems to have colored circumcision and related articles. This COI is not good for the project. I would be more comfortable if you were more open with your background and ] concerning circumcision on your user page. ] (]) 22:35, 24 June 2009 (UTC) |
:::Hello Gary. I'm glad you've finally decided to come here and discuss the issue. As far as I can tell, there seem to be several sub-issues. |
:::First, is a POV a COI? I note that you and Avi have discussed this point ], and I agree with Avi: there is a distinction between having a POV and having a COI. Let's be realistic: why would anyone edit the circumcision article unless one had a point of view about it? We all have points of view. If having a POV about circumcision presents a conflict of interest, then nobody with an interest in editing the article should do so. That's absurd, I think you'll agree. So the only rational conclusion seems to be that, although a person with a COI usually ''has'' a POV, having a POV does not by itself mean that one has a COI. |
:::Second (and I'm borrowing some specific issues from your posts elsewhere), does publishing material on the subject in academic peer-reviewed journals constitute a COI? No, to quote ]: "Editing in an area in which you have professional or academic expertise is not, in itself, a conflict of interest." I guess one could quibble over "academic expertise", but I think the intent of the guideline is clear: since any academic expert would almost certainly have published on the subject, having published on the subject is in itself not a COI. The guideline goes on to discuss citing one's own work, but the issue here seems to be the ''existence'' of the material. |
:::Third (again I'm borrowing some specifics from elsewhere), is having a website (circs.org) a COI? Normally, no. However, there are (relatively rare) occasions when it ''can'' present a COI. For example, in late 2006 a message was added describing circs.org as "pro-circumcision", which I felt was inaccurate. I complained about it on the talk page (see ]), but did not address the issue directly, stating "Given my personal involvement in one of the sites concerned, I will avoid editing the notice." 2.5 years later, the message still remains on the page, though I still consider it to be incorrect. I hope that gives you confidence in my handling of COI issues. |
:::Fourth (once again, borrowing specifics from elsewhere), is the fact that I debate (or, perhaps more precisely, "have debated") circumcision on USENET and a small number of web sites evidence of a COI? No, specific messages may be evidence of a POV, but having (and expressing) a POV isn't a COI. |
:::Fifth, as I understand it (and putting it into the most NPOV terms), one of your key objections seems to be that you disagree with my statement regarding my views on circumcision. I'm afraid I'm going to have to be blunt, you seem to think that you know better than I do about my own position re circumcision. From my point of view, this is ludicrous: I ''know'' my position, whereas you can only guess. It seems almost surreal to have a debate about it, so what do you want to do? I'm more than happy to discuss it, but such a discussion would have to be on the basis that I'm helping you to understand my position. ] (]) 09:20, 25 June 2009 (UTC) |

:Don't worry — you aren't the first person to have done that. ] (]) 08:12, 30 March 2012 (UTC) |
::::My understanding of a conflict of interest is when someone is too close to an issue. Everyone has a POV. For simplicities sake lets just say circumcision editors could be divided into con, neutral, or pro (I understand it is much more complicated than this). Neutral editors that could care less one way or the other seem to be a rare bird for this topic. Most editors that edit circumcision can be placed in the pro or con camp ''based on their actions''. My very first edit to talk circumcision placed me con camp for a specific purpose. I wanted the editors involved on the page to understand how and why I felt the way I did about the issue. Whether I revealed this information or not is not going to change the way I edit but I feel passionate about the subject and wanted everyone to understand my motivation. This doesn't mean I am unable to edit the article in a neutral manner. If that were the case only true neutrals would be able to edit articles and we would have a very tiny volunteer encyclopedia. So a POV is not COI, everyone has a POV. More difficult to determine is when is someone too close to an issue? It isn't just one thing that makes me think you have a COI Jake. It was the combination of the things listed above in their totality. Let's go over them for posterity. |
::::*Involvement in scientific papers and letters to the editor regarding circumcision. |
::::*Owner of pro circumcision website. (add some con circ material and I'll believe your site is neutral) |
::::*Heavy involvement of many forums on the internet (this being one of them) promoting the merits of circumcision |
::::*Last but not least your continued stance that you do not have a pro circ position (pro parental choice is simply a thinly veiled way of saying I'm pro circ because parents should be able to circumsise their children because you believe in the merits of circumcision). Michael Glass and Tip expressed their surprise at your neutrality declaration in the link you provided . |
::::These things altogether add up to a COI coupled with your incredibly high edit counts of circumcision and related articles to create a pattern of bias over an extended period of time. |
::::Regarding your claim of neutrality, I'm not claiming to read your mind and know it better than you, but your actions speak louder than your words. I've seen you revert blatant pro circ NPOV additions but this doesn't make your stance neutral, it just means you are trying follow NPOV policy. ] (]) 20:49, 25 June 2009 (UTC) |

Hi Jake. Your last revert of the IP to ] was commendable in the sense that it was done with a nice welcome message and explanation. I fear there is speculation that every IP is ] and consequently might be a bit ] or even block an innocent volunteer. :::::(ec) Certainly, Tremello. As I state on my user page, I'm neither in favour of or against neonatal circumcision. Let me put that in concrete terms. If you were expecting a son (for all I know, perhaps you are), and you asked me whether I thought you should have your son circumcised, I wouldn't say "yes", nor would I say "no". I'd probably say something like "I don't think it's appropriate for me to say. All I can advise is that you do plenty of research, and do please ask if I can help you with any questions relating to scientific facts." (This has been more or less my response on the few occasions when people have asked.) I consider this to be an important distinction between my own position (which I call "pro-parental choice") and those whom I would consider "pro-circumcision": I believe that a pro-circumcision person would say "yes". I hope that this also explains why I find it offensive to be described as an "advocate": I make a deliberate choice ''not'' to advocate. |

:::::Hopefully that has explained what I would (or in this case wouldn't) suggest to others, but some background is probably needed, and in any case you may be wondering "what does Jake actually ''think''?" Let me briefly give you some background (for my own convenience this is lightly adapted from one of my off-wiki posts). |

:::::At one end of the line are actions that are extremely harmful. Most people would recommend against these, and there is a point (marked with an asterisk) at which the degree of harm is so great that most people would be in favour of making such actions illegal. At the other end are actions that are clearly beneficial. Most would recommend in favour of these, and there is a point (marked with a percent sign) at which the degree of benefit is so great that there would be support for making these actions compulsory. At the exact centre of the line are actions that are completely neutral, and surrounding this point is what could be described as a "fairly neutral" zone. My personal assessment is that circumcision lies between the centre point and the percent sign: put another way, I think it's somewhere between "fairly neutral" and "net benefit" (my assessment of the exact placement changes from time to time as new evidence becomes available), but I don't consider that benefit to be large enough to mandate it. In other words I agree with the position of Benatar and Benatar that it's a procedure that is a legitimate parental choice. For the same reasons, I consider religious infant circumcision to be a legitimate parental choice. |

"Male circumcision is a surgery which removes the foreskin. It may also involve an intentional or accidental frenectomy. Circumcision may hold cultural and religious importance for followers of Middle Eastern religions and members of African tribes such as the Xhosa. Routine infant circumcision is a common surgery in the United States and Israel but remains virtually unpracticed in other areas of the world. Routine infant circumcision is considered a nontherapeutic surgery. Circumcision may be performed on males for therapeutic reasons such as treament for penile cancer. While there is little or no controversy surrounding circumcision of consenting adult males, there is controversy surrounding circumcision of nonconsenting minors. Opposition to nonconsentual and nontherapeutic genital surgery is known as the "genital integrity movement" or "intactivism." Some circumcised men may opt to undergo foreskin restoration." |
(] (]) 19:55, 5 April 2012 (UTC)) |
:"Middle Eastern religions" is a non-neutral way of describing Islam and Judaism because these religions are practised across the globe. "Routine infant circumcision is a common surgery in the United States and Israel" is simply wrong: routine infant circumcision, by definition, means circumcision of all newborn boys, and is not practiced anywhere. "there is little or no controversy surrounding circumcision of consenting adult males" is a questionable assertion at best. Then "there is controversy surrounding circumcision of nonconsenting minors" is of poor neutrality because it is framed in terms of opponents' arguments; the same is true of "Opposition to nonconsentual and nontherapeutic genital surgery". ] (]) 20:16, 5 April 2012 (UTC) |
Middle Eastern religions means religions orginating in the Middle East. Also, nontherapeutic and nonconsentual are true. Circumcision of infants is nontherapeutic and it is nonconsentual. Also, the current state of the article right now how several issues wrong with it: |
*1) A preputioplasty is unrelated information. |
*2) Male circumcision is not most often performed on infant boys. This may be for the USA and Israel but it is not true on a global scale. |
*3) The term Middle Eastern religions would be correct because it includes Judaism, Islam, Yazidism, etc. Tribal circumcision also needs to be included. |
*4) Adults who were circumcised, whether as infants or adults, may engage in foreskin restoration. |

:Yes, I understood the meaning of the term "Middle Eastern religions"; "religions of Middle-Eastern origin" would be more accurate, but it's still a non-neutral way of putting it. "Islam and Judaism" is concise, explicit, and neutral. I don't understand why you wanted to change it. As for "nontherapeutic and nonconsentual", I'm not saying it's inaccurate. I'm saying that it's framed in terms of the viewpoint of opponents, who tend to argue these points. |

== Certain additions == |
I want to thank you for editing my addition on ]. I apologize for posting here, but I cannot edit the Talk page. |
For example, your removal of my additions from the recent Danish study seems to be well grounded, as one source can be considered lay-scientific and another primary. However, the position of a medical society is not a medical claim, why is not a newspaper a good source for that? Just in case, I include below a summary of another source, a major newspaper (Swedish) in Sweden, and a third possible source. |
In February 2012, Swedish Pediatric Society demanded ritual circumcision of boys to be completely banned. The Society considers circumcision an assault against children, who cannot decide themselves of the operation. The chairman of the division for ethics and childrens' rights says that the question is extremely complicated but the "mutilation" must be stopped. He emphasizes that every county and every doctor has to right to refuse to perform the operations, and many ] (provinces) have decided to refuse, for ethical reasons. <ref name=GP>, ], 19 Feb 2012</ref> (#2 newspaper in Sweden) A short version by official radio: http://sverigesradio.se/sida/artikel.aspx?programid=83&artikel=4973132 |
Also the former minister of social affairs called for a complete ban on circumcisions (on those for non-medical reasons), in November 2011.<ref>, ], April 1, 2012</ref> (Also this article mentions the Pediatric Society's position.) |

] is often called the greatest Jewish philosopher ever and the most influential interpreter Jewish law and ethics even now. He was also a doctor, but the reference was based on his authority on Jewish law and ethics, not on his medical knowledge, as it was about the position of circumcision in Jewish law and ethics. :Hi Hurix. Thank you for your comments. I completely understand you posting here, and it's entirely acceptable given the circumstances. |
:Regarding the position of medical society, I don't think that the popular press are reliable for such matters. For example, I've seen numerous news sites claim that, prior to 1999, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended infant circumcision. I'd therefore prefer to cite the society directly or not at all. |
:Regarding the Maimonides material, I'm afraid I can't really see how this material can be used. The opinion of a twelfth-century writer on a scientific matter just isn't very notable in a wider context. ] (]) 14:09, 17 April 2012 (UTC) |

Hi Jake, I've noticed that ] has been adding extremely low-level detail to what should be high-level articles around the subject of ]. The articles are ] (especially look here!), ], ] (an article MurasakiSunshine created recently) and ]. As I am sure you are aware, these devices have been used by thousands of professionals for years with millions of successful results; MurasakiSunshine's edits add paragraphs of what feels like lurid, excessive detail over a handful of bad results (granted some of them high-profile). The content looks true and (sometimes) well-referenced, but not in appropriate balance. Even worse, at ] he's added 5 lines of detail about a particular circumcision-related lawsuit to an article that is a one-line stub about the hospital; same at ]. This seems to be an area of expertise for you, aren't there some success vs. complication rates that can be quoted for these devices, and can that be put in perspective relative to the success vs. complication rates for comparable medical procedures in general? Is this a case of ] or something else? Thanks for your attention and advice. ] (]) 13:51, 17 April 2012 (UTC) |
:Hello Zad68. Thanks for your note. I completely agree with you; this off-topic material does seem excessive and undue. I've commented on some of the material , and would welcome your input. I'd also add that there are a few sources (eg., ) that compare safety of various devices, and in my view the coverage should be based around these reviews. Compilations of primary sources (such as lawsuits involving boys who happened to be circumcised with device X) seems incompatible with ]. ] (]) 14:17, 17 April 2012 (UTC) |
::Thanks Jakew I responded at the article, and actually removed the lawsuits and deaths sections. There's nothing there to indicate the clamp in general, or the Gomco clamp in particular, was primarily or even secondarily responsible. It's ] to suggest it by having those sections. |
I have been trying to reach consensus on the relevance of off-topic content on the ] page. Per ], I had assumed that consensus had been reached because ] had ceased (no response to my last comment in over a week), so I proceeded with the edits mentioned on the talk page, but you reverted my changes again. |
You have failed to engage in discussion about these changes on the talk page, and yet you continue to revert them - this appears to be disruptive editing. If you disagree with these changes, please engage in discussion on the ], or self-revert, so that dispute resolution can be avoided. ] (]) 16:18, 9 May 2012 (UTC) |
:I'm quite familiar with the discussion, Kyle. You argued that certain material was "off-topic", others (including myself) disagreed, and you responded by essentially making the same claim again. Repetition is somewhat pointless, and creating more repetition by responding to the repetition doubly so, so it did not seem necessary to respond again. If you'd like to make any new points, I'll be happy to respond to them. ] (]) 16:32, 9 May 2012 (UTC) |
::You and Jayjg have ''disagreed'' with my policy-based objections, but you have not proven that my objections are incorrect, or that the information in question is relevant to the article. If you wish to prove that the content in question is relevant to the article, perhaps you could start by explaining, on the foreskin talk page, how the following sentence is relevant to an article on the foreskin: "Among circumcised males, reported incidence figures of meatal stenosis include 0%, 0.01%, 0.55%, 0.9%, 2.8%, 7.29%, 9-10%, and 11%." |
::My original points - that the content in question is ] and the article appears to used as a ] for discussing/promoting circumcision - have not been refuted, which is why I keep repeating them. If you feel that we are simply repeating ourselves at this point, perhaps dispute resolution is the correct way forward. ] (]) 17:09, 9 May 2012 (UTC) |
:::I wouldn't object to the removal of that particular sentence, Kyle. |
:::Regarding much of the rest of the material you removed, I do not think you've made a case that it is off-topic; you've merely asserted that it is, which isn't a persuasive form of argument. I don't agree with your conclusions. For example (and I've just chosen this one to illustrate), you removed a sentence citing the WHO saying "Although it has been argued that sexual function may diminish following circumcision due to the removal of the nerve endings in the foreskin and subsequent thickening of the epithelia of the glans, there is little evidence for this and studies are inconsistent." It is difficult to see how it could be off-topic when the source specifically refers to the foreskin and discusses what happens if it is removed. |
:::You also haven't made a persuasive argument (or, indeed, any argument) in support of your claim that the material is a "soapbox" for circumcision. ] (]) 17:33, 9 May 2012 (UTC) |
::::That quote discusses what happens to the penis after circumcision, which is not what the article is about. The sentence may use the word "foreskin" but it is clearly a quote that is directly related to circumcision, rather than the foreskin, thus it is off-topic, and does not belong in the article. The only part of the sentence directly related to the foreskin is "nerve endings in the foreskin," and that section by itself doesn't add much to the article. |
::::Allowing material that discusses what happens to the penis after the foreskin is removed would allow the entire ] and ] articles to be copied to ]. When taken to this extreme, it's quite evident that discussing what happens to the penis when the foreskin is removed is beyond the scope of this article. If readers wish to learn about what happens to the penis when the foreskin is removed, there are plenty of circumcision-related pages that are directly related to that topic on wikipedia, and we already link to them from the Foreskin article. |
::::It appears that the article is being used as a soapbox for discussing circumcision because of the number of sentences devoted to circumcision in the article. If it was just one or two sentences, I would not have a basis for making this accusation, but as we can see from this diff (your revert conveniently shows all three of my edits, so I'm using that rather than listing them individually), the amount of off-topic text devoted to circumcision is substantial. |
::::By the way, since we're discussing content again, I'm happy to go back to the Foreskin talk page, so that other editors can participate in the conversation. Thanks for continuing our discussion, I think we're getting somewhere again. However, I also note that you have now been reverted by two other editors, indicating a lack of consensus for including the material in question, so I'm not sure if further discussion is necessary, but I'm happy to continue the discussion if you wish. ] (]) 19:30, 9 May 2012 (UTC) |
:::::I'm afraid I don't share your view that "it's quite evident that discussing what happens to the penis when the foreskin is removed is beyond the scope of this article", Kyle. I shall comment at the article. ] (]) 19:42, 9 May 2012 (UTC) |

You have just published a study with Brian Morris proposing to Asian (and especially Chinese and Japanese) the establishment of the U.S. practice of routine circumcision : |

:To Suwq Ede, I think you must misunderstand the rules. Please see ], which states: "Editing in an area in which you have professional or academic expertise is not, in itself, a conflict of interest." And also see ], which states: "Do not confuse stewardship with ownership. Misplaced Pages is the encyclopedia that "anyone can edit", but not all edits bring improvement. In many cases, a core group of editors will have worked to build the article up to its present state, and will revert unconstructive edits in order to preserve the quality of the encyclopedia. Such reversion does not in itself constitute ownership, and will normally be supported by an explanatory edit summary referring to Misplaced Pages policies and guidelines, previous reviews and discussions, or specific grammar or prose problems introduced by the edit." ] (]) 09:24, 31 May 2012 (UTC) |

Hey, i saw you wrote on my tak a {{tlc|uw-vandalism1}} to notify me a vanalism i commited in the article Noddy. The problem is, that what i did in the article wasn't adding such vandalism but other slight modifications. What happened (as now i check) is that i unintentionally reverted the article to a vandalized version, for which i apology. --] <font color="grey">{{small|<nowiki>]<nowiki>]</nowiki><nowiki>]<nowiki>]</nowiki>}}</font> 17:34, 8 June 2012 (UTC) |

== Followup RFC to ] now in community feedback phase == |
Hello. As a participant in ], you may wish to register an opinion on its followup RFC, ], which is now in its community feedback phase. Please note that ] is not simply a repeat of ], and is attempting to achieve better results by asking a more narrowly-focused, policy-based question of the community. Assumptions based on the previous RFC should be discarded before participation, particularly the assumption that Misplaced Pages has or inherently needs to have articles covering generalized perspective on each side of abortion advocacy, and that what we are trying to do is come up with labels for that. Thanks! —chaos5023 20:28, 24 October 2012 (UTC) |

Hey, I left a comment at the AfD but I will leave the same here as you are the AfD author: "Meco has just restored the text of the badly sourced Searl Effect Generator. I would suggest including this into the AfD as well. " IRWolfie- (talk) 11:27, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
PStechPaul (talk) 09:18, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
I think that was some sort of edit conflict that I didn't notice or deal with properly. Sorry again.
And yet another comment (I do this a lot, don't I?): do you happen to have copies of or links to your letters published in journals? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Morrowulf (talk • contribs) 20:32, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Jakew, thanks for moving my comments. I was crossing a line I didn't know existed. Sorry to have been a nuisance. Tftobin (talk) 19:30, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
Opposition to nonconsentual and nontherapeutic genital surgery is known as the "genital integrity movement" or "intactivism." Some circumcised men may opt to undergo foreskin restoration."
(MurasakiSunshine (talk) 19:55, 5 April 2012 (UTC))
Middle Eastern religions means religions orginating in the Middle East. Also, nontherapeutic and nonconsentual are true. Circumcision of infants is nontherapeutic and it is nonconsentual. Also, the current state of the article right now how several issues wrong with it:
He emphasizes that every county and every doctor has to right to refuse to perform the operations, and many county councils (provinces) have decided to refuse, for ethical reasons. I have been trying to reach consensus on the relevance of off-topic content on the Foreskin page. Per WP:TALKDONTREVERT, I had assumed that consensus had been reached because our discussion had ceased (no response to my last comment in over a week), so I proceeded with the edits mentioned on the talk page, but you reverted my changes again.
You have failed to engage in discussion about these changes on the talk page, and yet you continue to revert them - this appears to be disruptive editing. If you disagree with these changes, please engage in discussion on the talk page, or self-revert, so that dispute resolution can be avoided. kyledueck (talk) 16:18, 9 May 2012 (UTC)
I am sure of it. I know him personally and went to HS with him. The edit I made is accurate. I dont see how you can feel you have any authority on the subject unless you know him better than I, which I doubt you do. Please stop editing history as you see fit just to remain in the most active (L)users directory. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.78.68.35 (talk) 16:20, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
I will be reporting you for editor abuse. YOu have no right deleting facts. Not everything is sourced. I dont see you deleting his current residence which is listed and unsourced there so why the need to delete the well known FACT that he has never been in space? YOu say that detail is unimportant but the entire article is unimportant and I will be reporting it for a speedy delete and I will be reporting YOU for wikinazi-ism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.78.68.35 (talk) 03:28, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Why the rules are not enforced on this page?
I think that contributors should not be activists (pro or anti) but all the members of the WikiProject Medicine... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Suwq Ede (talk • contribs) 00:02, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
