== WikiCup 2018 November newsletter ==

The WikiCup is over for another year! Our '''Champion''' this year is {{Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Participant9|Courcelles}}, who over the course of the competition has amassed 147 GAs, 111 GARs, 9 DYKs, 4 FLs and 1 ITN. Our finalists were as follows:
== OOK's highest priority task - here's a piece of it for you ==

Danger,

I'm splitting this task up for everyone on the team to work on...

The government branches sections are in error on many of the country outlines.

Since those are in article space, we need to fix those ASAP! This is our most important task right now.

Here's a list of links that goes right to that section: ].

I'm working on U-Z.

Your task is to complete and correct these:

* ]
* ]
* ]
* ]

] is especially useful for this.

Let me know when you are done, so I can check them over.

Thank you.

Good luck.

Have fun.

== Hi WikiGnome! ==

So, you'd like to help out with the indexes, eh?

I've got an assignment for you. Pretty easy, since most of the links are already in place.

What I need you to do is use ] on the following list:

] - they're all links to see also sections of country articles.

Assuming you have Linky installed, and you use Firefox... You select an area of the page by holding down the left button and dragging your mouse. Try not to select an area with more than 99 links in it. Then you right click. In the drop down menu, choose Linky, then "Open selected links in tabs".

Move between tabs with Ctrl-Tab. Nuke a tab with Ctrl-W.

Each tab will display a see also section of a country article. What I need you to do is check each one to make sure the ] (where "x" is the country's name) is included as a link in the see also section for that country.

If the old page name (]) is in the section, check to see if it's a redirect to the index. If it is, replace it with the index link.)

For the sections that are missing the index link altogether, add it in!

Easy as pie.

(I've been working on inserting Outline links, so you might run into me).

Thank you.

Good luck.

Have fun.

''''']''''' 23:33, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

P.S.: I don't remember, do you know how to use Linky?

:I think Linky crashed my browser the last few times I used it; I get by without it fine. I'm finished with this task and have collected a list of the countries/territories without indices. I'll go through the list again to see if I missed anything, but when I'm done I'll edit your worklist to indicate which ones need to be done. I'm participating in ], so I might develop some indexes over the week. --] (]) 04:00, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

== Checking over stuff I done ==

I finally bit the bullet and looked over ]. I was quite unsure of what to do, so I wanted to make sure I didn't mess up before tackling any others.

I also finished the ] that you asked me to do, everything except ], which is still locked. I also started ] and want to see what you thought of that. (It's still very much a work in progress, I just wasn't expecting the work to take so long.) --] (]) 07:26, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

: You got a lot done. Thank you for jumping in.

: For the outline, if you can't find the missing topics on Misplaced Pages, use Google. I've added in the cabinet and the ministries (See ] for a good example). I'll let you finish the judiciary branch. (Hint: look for "Judiciary of", "Court system of", "Judicial system of", and "Legal system of").

: The index task revealed an unforeseen problem, but your updating of the links was the important thing (keep up the excellent work), and provides me with a good place to start my next task.

: I've touched up the ]. I added a short lead to help identify the subject of the index, and added a references section to handle the reference that's in the lead, then I moved the lists to their own section at the end, and then I configured the CompactTOC8 template using parameters (setting its look, and making sure all the sections were included).

== Outline Update - Basking in the light of knowledge - 07/28/2009 ==

Phase two of outline integration (de-orphanizing outlines by adding links leading to them into article see also sections) is nearly complete. The better that outlines are integrated into the encyclopedia, the more use they will be to readers.

Due to greater exposure through outline integration, and with most of the OOK team on school summer vacation, development activity on outlines has increased a lot...

; Outlines that have been tagged
:Tags are requests to fix a problem or improve an article in a particular way. Unless we want the tags to sit there for an extended period of time cluttering up the outlines (we don't), it is up to us to fulfill those requests or attend to underlying misassumptions (if any).

; I can't stress enough the importance of watching

: With so many outlines (now over 500), and a growing number of support pages (guidelines, wikiproject pages, etc.), I can no longer keep up. I need your help watching over it all.

Keep up the excellent work.
