Hi. The ] has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland ] and ]. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current ] which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! Kurdish-stub

Even if there be a need for a Kurdish-stub, there is no need to apply it (or any other stub template) to articles that are not stubs. Caerwine Caer’s whines 20:57, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

I see, but we need for other stubs ..there are a lot of kurdish stubs' articles, see here. I addition Arbil is capital of Iraqi Kurdistan. --Bohater 21:39, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Please explain how an Iraqi football club article is specifically Kurdish. Stub templates do not get applied for peripheral associations, if they were stub articles would routinely have ten or more templates which is ludicrous. Stub types are not categories. So unless they only let Kurds play, Arbil FC does not warrant that stub. Simply being in Arbil is insufficient. Caerwine Caer’s whines 21:58, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Sorry I don't understand. Arbil FC is the football club of Arbil and this town lies official in Iraqi Kurdistan. Read this article, and then discuss, oky!. A Editwar is not good. --Bohater 22:01, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
I wasn't aware that soccer was played differently by Kurds. Locale alone is not sufficient for applying ethnic related stub templates. Caerwine Caer’s whines 22:07, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
I see, help us. --Bohater 22:11, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Just to be clear though, given its locale, it is probably appropriate for Arbil FC to have the Kurdish Wikiproject template (depending on how broad a scope the WP wants to cover) on its talk page, but that is a separate issue. As far as stub templates go, anything that is sufficiently differentiated by locale does not get a further differentiation by ethnicity unless it relates to something about that culture. Since soccer is not Kurdish specific, then unless they have a Kurds only policy or the like, as far as stubbing is concerned it is an Iraqi football club, and any further stub types would be excessive. Caerwine Caer’s whines 22:16, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
is oky, i see. --Bohater 22:17, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Sugestion

Hi Bohater - firstly, I'd like to apologise for my speedy deletion of Kurdish-stub. The problem is, though, that it was already being used in a way very similar to the deleted Kurdistan-stub. Caerwine tells me that you were using it in a sensible manner, but clearly there was at least one other editor who was marking things like geo-stubs in eastern Turkey and northern Iraq, which definitely shouldn't have been marked that way - p

Kurdish Barnstar

You awarded me and Heja helweda the Kurdish barnstar, but there was no template for it and the image you uploaded was deleted. I took the liberty to create the template for it and created a vector based image for the template. I replaced both awards with this new template, so from now on use this template. I will also add this to the WikiProject Kurdistan template section. --D.Kurdistani 07:25, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

March 2008 edition of the WikiProject Germany newsletter

The Germany WikiProject Newsletter
Issue II - March 2008
From the editor

This is the second issue of WikiProject Germany's newsletter. The newsletter is intended to help all members of the project to keep up with new developments and coordinate new collaborative efforts. If you think anything should be featured in the next issue, please leave a note at the Newsdesk

Other areas where you can help
  • Assessment requests: Some open Requests for assessment need to be answered. To see new assessment requests as they come in, you can watchlist the assessment page.
  • More task forces and subprojects: As this WikiProject covers a very large topic area, it is helpful to add more task forces that focus on specific aspects of Germany. Currently, we have a Mainz task force, a Munich subproject and some joint task forces with other WikiProjects. Any project member is invited to start a new task force. Suggestions for possible topics:
    • Transportation in Germany
    • German politics (the political system of Germany and the biographies of its politicians)
    • German Democratic Republic

Be creative! If you have an idea, just suggest it on the project talk page (don't forget to watchlist it).

  • Categorization: Uncategorized Germany stubs need to be categorized
Project news
  • Cities and municipalities task force

The task force dedicated to creating and improving articles on all German cities and municipalities is happy to announce that there are now (at least) stub articles for all municipalities of Germany. Now the task force is looking for help in fleshing these out a little bit. The current phase of activity for the task force is to copy in infoboxes from the articles in German Misplaced Pages. If you want to help, even just for a few articles, look at the instructions and links here

  • Article Assessment:

There are now way over 26.000 articles tagged as part of our Wikiproject and many still need either an importance or a quality assessment. Also there are many more out there that do need to be tagged like approx 8000 municipalities. If you would like to help take a browse through Articles needing Importance assessment or Articles needing a basic quality assessment.

- - Newsletter Bot Talk 14:15, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

This newsletter is delivered by a bot to all members of WikiProject Germany. If you do not want to receive this newsletter in the future, please leave a note at the talk page of the Outreach department so we can come up with a better spamlist solution. Invitation to Misplaced Pages research by City University HK

Dear Bohator,

I am Andreas Schroeder, a Research Fellow at City University in Hong Kong. Here at the University’s Center for Applied Knowledge and Innovation Management, we are currently conducting a research project on collaboration activities in Misplaced Pages. We are inviting experienced Wikipedians worldwide to share their experiences and views on different aspect of the community processes with us. Our aim is to find out how people integrate their contribution efforts to ultimately better understand the mechanisms behind the amazing success of Misplaced Pages.

Because you are an experienced Wikipedian and a well integrated member of the Misplaced Pages community, we would like to talk to you about your experiences. We would like to do a short interview during the next two weeks either via Skype, MSN Messenger or telephone at a time that is most convenient for you. The interview should not take longer than 30 minutes and could be conducted in German or English.

We would very much appreciate your participation in this research project. Any information about participants will, of course, be kept strictly confidential. For further questions about the project and to arrange a date for an interview, please contact Andreas Schroeder at WikiResearchCityU{at}gmail.com or send me an email.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
