This didn't need to come here; it could have stayed at the AN/I page, but whatever. It was only a suggestion; you may take it with a grain of salt if you so choose. People in my place of work don't bicker with each other, undo each other's work over and over again, and go to manager both accusing each other of being wrong or being "Marxist propaganda mongerers" and "vandals," I had my fill of that in middle school. At my place of work, people act as the professionals that we are and take our lack of childishness beyond language. Seriously though, what I see at the surface here is two people who think they're right, and instead of trying to reach some sort of agreement like adults or handling things properly, they start playing tug-o-war with an article a page as a rope and then proceed to accuse each other of personal attacks and vandalism at AN/I. NJROTC, I've just come across the AN/I you felt you had enough of a grasp of to involve yourself in. Not only was your advice unconstructive, you managed to be WP:UNCIVIL towards the editor filing the complaint and, quite evidently, didn't bother to check the diffs properly, or even acquaint yourself with the content in dispute. Consequently, the ANI was closed by the reporting editor rather than having to face any more condescending suggestions and heckling from you. Only one administrator had the chance to weigh in, and other involved editors were denied the opportunity to discuss the new user's disruptive behaviour.

Considering that you don't edit in any controversial areas of Misplaced Pages, and that you insinuated yourself into an ANI regarding a new contributor to a WP:ARBEE area, I can't help but find myself wondering how you feel you are qualified to take over the incident report and harass the reporter. I fail to see how choosing not to take sides in the content dispute (policy dispute, which ever you prefer to call it) constitutes assuming bad faith (I'm sure they both had good intentions), and I fail to see how suggesting the two editors discuss the matter rather than come to AN/I to try and get each other blocked/banned/topic banned/etc was disruptive, but I don't see the sense in arguing about it. Perhaps my choice of words could have been better, but I still don't see how anything I posted was WP:UNCIVIL towards any particular user. As for WP:BATTLEGROUND, I don't see it. What I see is a content dispute that made its way over to dispute resolution, which, IMO, is the proper place for it (either there or ArbCom, since ArbCom is involved in the matter). User:Beach drifter is at it again, I see. Yes, this is indeed what happens when someone edits as an anon to do his dirty work and then gets away with it (and I fully believe the only reason he took responsibility for the IP's actions is because he knew it wouldn't end well if he didn't and a checkuser had to get involved). But that's ancient history now. That template was a WP:BOLD move, stating the truth, and I personally don't see anything wrong (or against policy) with it. Although school IP talk pages may be seen by thousands of users, I wouldn't consider them highly visible as compared with other pages on Misplaced Pages, some of which are seen by millions of people (the templates on school IP talk pages like {{Shared IP edu}} are a different story). While WP:OTHERSTUFF isn't the best argument, well, it does. I also distinctly remember another template that said something like "Why do you vandalize the wiki? You're just going to get your school blocked." But, if you don't like it, I'm not going to stop you from deleting it; it's not worth an edit war. PCHS-NJROTC 14:18, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

By the way, I did link to policy in that template, both the vandalism policy and the blocking policy. Thing is, I would have linked to an official policy for dealing with schools, but there is no such policy. The only other appropriate policy I can think of to link to is WP:AGF, and if anyone thinks that's being actively followed for school IPs, they are delusional (the attitude towards school IPs by admins is that all schools are filled with immature students and therefore need to be blocked; indeed kids will be kids and they're not completely wrong, but that's still not following assume good faith). That page refers to a very specific type of problem, while those kind of IPs do much more than just that. I think linking to that may discourage good faith editors from editing their schools' articles as well, and there are a lot of good faith edits to school articles that come from school IPs. Possibly helpful

Hi PCHS, I saw your post about open proxy check and did some searching. The only other IP used in the /24 range has been this one. I know the range is much bigger but this might point to your guy as this post combined with this block log indicates that it is the editor for this SPI case. I don't know if this matches to the person giving you problems but it gives you a direction to look. Also, you may try looking at the larger /16 range to see if you spot anything.

I've added criticism (and pushed to add more) to RationalWiki. I've disclosed my COI on every post. Yet you repeatedly accuse me of WP:SPAMMER & WP:PROMOTION and threaten me with WP:COIN & WP:ANI.

I had hoped the discussion on Talk:Vaginal steaming would yield consensus on RW's status under WP:ELNO, WP:ELYES, WP:ELMAYBE. Instead it is bogged down with your back-and-forth and your incessant links to WP policy & "embarassing" RW pages.

I believe you are either blinded by your bias or acting in bad faith. I have resolved not to further interact with you.

I have to agree that you personally have not been committing WP:BLUDGEON, but others have (who may not even be Rat-Wikians, but for whatever reason have strong opinions on the matter). I'm sorry to hear that dealing with shenanigans from that site pouring over into Misplaced Pages for the past eight years (before I even knew that Conservapedia or Rational-Wiki even existed) makes me a biased person, but I care too much for the integrity of the encyclopedia to watch this kind of controversy happen over and over again. Could you help update some BLPs?

Hey PCHS, I'm looking for some help updating articles for Craig B. Thompson, José Baselga, and Joan Massagué Solé, who are all executives at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The articles' overall quality was a little lacking, so I've been working on adding content and supporting it with better references. I saw you're a member of WP:HOSPITAL and I was wondering if you could check out some of my suggestions, even if the articles are somewhat tangentially related. I've posted on their respective talk pages, as well as the WP:ACADEMICS talk page, but I've been having trouble getting any kind of feedback from anyone. Message regarding the Forest Park High School website

Hey, I was the one making the constructive changes on the FPHS website. However one of my classmates that sits next to me saw me editing the page and decided to add his own (the addition of "Mike Hawk" which was a joke). I believe you were concerned with "Kelly Green" as one of the schools colors, however Kelly Green is an actual color. I was not vandalizing when it came to adding the achievements of the Cyber Patriot and Crew team, and I cited a source to it. I took your advice and created an account as to differentiate myself from the schools IP Address. imo I think if one user did generally the same kind of edit after a warning is already given, a "more strict" warning should be added to let this user realized it is really inappropriate for its edit. @Stang: For one thing it's Broward County Public Schools, one of the largest school districts in the United States, so prior edits probably aren't the same person that did the most recent edit. For another thing, it's probably just some middle or high school kid messing around, not someone on a plot to undermine the encyclopedia; since they're not plastering people's names on articles or anything, I think one level one warning should suffice for now (usually with schools if someone posts something really bad I call and report it rather than go for a widespread block, but that's just me). IP hard blocks soft blocks and sunny side over

Heya, Seemed like a conversation not-too-relevant to the RFA, so I thought we could continue here. If you're running into issues with hardblocks (it sounds like you have) - WP:IPBE is always an option. I 100% understand not wanting your IP to be out there - especially if it's possibly something that gives away an employer. If you have the need for IPBE, I am more than happy to talk privately about granting that right. I wasn't sure if you were aware that this option is out there - and any admin can grant it. Thank you for that. Actually, I was aware of the process to get a hard block exemption, but fortunately the only time I ran into the problem was from a wi-fi hotspot, and I didn't have a great enough need to edit from there to request one or request the IP block be reduced to a softblock. Because I don't care to discuss the matter with the person in question and create unproductive drama (in my experience here, people get mad when I question their blocks whether it's on their own talk page or elsewhere), I'm not going to name him unless I have to, but I was looking over one of the CheckUser's blocks and I noticed quite a few hardblocks issued. I'm a checkuser on Conservapedia, so I can appreciate the need to sometimes hardblock, but I don't want to see average administrators start blocking IPs with thousands of users because apparently no one legitimately edits from there or few people legitimately edit from there. Just because no one edits from there now doesn't mean a newcomer might desire to start editing from there, and the harder we make it for newcomers, the less likely they are going to be bothered creating an account. Chances are, no one edited from my home IP a month ago because it belonged to someone else then, but that changed when it got assigned to me. I don't know if anyone else edits from my employer's IP or not, but it is softblocked and is shared by thousands of people. One good side effect of the softblock is that it nearly eliminates the chances of the IP being subject to an autoblock, but it also reduces the chances of us getting newcomers from there. Once upon a time, there were more than one person legitimately editing with accounts from Charlotte County Public Schools and the Charlotte County Library System, but now people rarely even edit from the Charlotte County Library System anonymously, and I doubt anyone else editing with accounts there either, so when we actually do get newcomers, I don't think we should be discouraging them. He did. Minimal damage to the house or my neighbor’s (also a believer) despite a tornado going between the two houses; no roof damage, no water damage, and despite the neighbor on the other side losing their roof. People I care about are also okay; lady I love in Fort Myers is okay despite that area being annihilated. Church infrastructure is relatively okay considering the locations of the different IFB churches, despite the rumors that one of the hospitals even is a tear down. God is good, and I praise him! @JarrahTree: No problem, nobody is perfect and I've had my share of WP:TROUT in my 15 years as well. I found this because I was reading the editing history of an article out of curiosity (I do that a lot), and that name jumped out at me because it was advocating gun violence, so I checked just to make sure it was blocked, but it wasn't. To be honest, I've seen worse though; doing RC patrol I've seen kids (or adults acting like kids) literally express in Misplaced Pages articles their desire to commit a school shooting (especially in the immediate aftermath of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre, I immediately report those edits to the Foundation. Frankly, had I seen User:ShootThePolice two years ago when they were active I probably would have alerted the Foundation. But alas... happy editing fellow Wikipedian! New Misplaced Pages Page

I am looking to publish a new Misplaced Pages page. It is the Arlin R. Horton Sports Center (User:Wjenkins96/sandbox). I don't have any associations with the college, rather I'd heard about this facility through another website that ranked their waterpark as the #1 college campus waterpark. I saw that you took photos of the facility, and I have chosen three of them for the proposed article. The reasons why I think this would qualify for a Misplaced Pages page are that the arena portion has over 3,100 seats (more than sixty NCAA Division I arenas), and because the waterpark features were ranked #1 on the article that I found (as seen in one of the sources on the page). Also, their rival school has Misplaced Pages articles for both their soccer stadium and basketball court. Hey.

I stumbled upon the food court article while searching for other possible notable alumni or faculty at Port Charlotte High School. At first I was very confused but once I saw the photo I knew it had to be you who put it there, and as I suspected it was in fact you.

Coincidentally, I have also visited the food court featured in the first picture in Montréal. Because of you I have somehow visited and ate at 50% of the food courts featured as pictures in this article.

RFA2024 update: no longer accepting new proposals in phase I

Hey there! This is to let you know that phase I of the 2024 requests for adminship (RfA) review is now no longer accepting new proposals. Lots of proposals remain open for discussion, and the current round of review looks to be on a good track towards making significant progress towards improving RfA's structure and environment. I'd like to give my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has given us their idea for change to make RfA better, and the same to everyone who has given the necessary feedback to improve those ideas. The following proposals remain open for discussion:

• Proposal 2, initiated by HouseBlaster, provides for the addition of a text box at Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship reminding all editors of our policies and enforcement mechanisms around decorum.
• Proposals 3 and 3b, initiated by Barkeep49 and Usedtobecool, respectively, provide for trials of discussion-only periods at RfA. The first would add three extra discussion-only days to the beginning, while the second would convert the first two days to discussion-only.
• Proposal 5, initiated by SilkTork, provides for a trial of RfAs without threaded discussion in the voting sections.
• Proposals 6c and 6d, initiated by BilledMammal, provide for allowing users to be selected as provisional admins for a limited time through various concrete selection criteria and smaller-scale vetting.

• Proposal 14, initiated by Kusma, provides for the creation of some minimum suffrage requirements to cast a vote.
• Proposals 16 and 16c, initiated by Thebiguglyalien and Soni, respectively, provide for community-based admin desysop procedures. 16 would desysop where consensus is established in favor at the administrators' noticeboard; 16c would allow a petition to force reconfirmation.
• Proposal 16e, initiated by BilledMammal, would extend the recall procedures of 16 to bureaucrats.
• Proposal 17, initiated by SchroCat, provides for "on-call" admins and 'crats to monitor RfAs for decorum.

There is a declared connection on Talk:Port Charlotte High School and the connection is that I graduated from there in 2010. My original user name was GO-PCHS-NJROTC, which I changed because I later felt that was too promotional (and the change was approved at the time). I made the account years ago and selected the name because I decided I didn't want to use the same name I used at the time on other platforms because I did not want flame wars (which seemed to be common at the time) spreading across multiple platforms. I would have more of a COI editing school articles from Sarasota County because I work for them, and therefore they have the power to retaliate if I write something negative, although I can create another account for that under WP:SOCKLEGIT if I ever think I'm going to have any problems with that (or I can just go use a wi-fi hotspot somewhere and edit as an IP). I actually want to change my user name to "PCHS Pirate Alumnus" as it keeps me associated with the identity I have held on Misplaced Pages since 2008 while not giving the impression that I am a high school student or an ROTC instructor. I just have never gotten around to submitting a request for it, for the same reasons I haven't tackled numerous article building projects I want to take on. PCHS-NJROTC 16:47, 18 October 2024 (UTC)

I would get around to it, it still is a bright line violation of WP:ORGNAME. I would also warn against editing the Port Charlotte High School page directly, editors with COIs are supposed to make talk page edit requests rather than edit the article directly. Both together put you in some pretty serious jeopardy "A user who both adopts a promotional username and who engages in inappropriate advertising or promotional edits or behaviors – especially when made to their own user space or to articles about the company, group, or product – can be blocked from editing Misplaced Pages, and are often blocked much sooner than users who engage in only one of the two behaviors." I submitted the request as we speak. People with connections to a subject are encouraged, but not required, to use the talk page. Please review WP:COIEDIT. Whenever I am in question as to whether I am biased about something, I request a second opinion. For example, I really wanted to delete the bit about the transgender person suing Liberty University in a recent edit, but because I know there is potential for bias as a graduate from Liberty, I decided to mention Liberty's doctrinal positions on transgenders in a factual, straightforward manner instead. In the past I have been told by User:Spintendo that I was more cautious than I needed to be when editing The Gideons International (which I also have a connection with as an unpaid member). If I can make contribute to an article about an organization I am actively involved in without problem, I can contribute to an article about an institution I am 14 years removed from without problem.
