== US Primary Copper Production Chart ==
==Dinosaurs==
About a year ago, back before I had an account, I wrote a few articles on dinosaurs: ], ] and a few others. You posted on the ] for my IP, which it never occured to me to check until now. Having finally found your comment, I felt it was about time I responded to it! I am deeply flattered that you suspected from the tone of the prose that I had copied it, but in fact I really did write them myself. Hopefully a check against Google or something can confirm that. The reason they were marked up in HTML and not Wiki was that, at the time, I had no idea how to use Wiki markup at all. Thanks for improving my articles, and for the unintended compliment on my writing style! ] 21:10, 25 July 2005 (UTC)

I appreciate the effort you went to in putting together that 'US Primary Copper Production' chart on the 'Copper mining in the United States' article on Misplaced Pages, as I have found it to be quite interesting. I have a question in relation to this chart, though.
{{idw|Image:RmdirPalmdale CA and Antelope Valley and Environs Landsat7.jpg}}

Assuming you have a free moment, I was wondering if you could point me to where exactly you sourced the figures from in the USGS site?
== Nice graph ==

I noticed on the chart that the source is named as being the United States Geological Survey, however, when I visited that site, I wasn't able to work out exactly where the annual copper production data is housed on the site.

I feel rather frustrated by the different commands of Wiki. For instance, I hope I am replying to you here--but am not sure, and if not, wonder how to do it.
<P>
I have many years of experience writing HTML (in text mode--not using any translator, I know commands). I wish I could use it here. That is why I have to rewrite the sandbox so often: I get strange unexpected results too frequently.
Does there exist a dictionary HTML--Wiki equivalents?
<P>
If you want to see what I have done, look up
http://www.phy6.org/
<P>
And thanks for the encouragement. BTW, I will be 74 day after tomorrow.

I'm not sure why my edit to the Andy Samberg entry was considered vandalism. I added the legitimate category ] as a descriptor for the "Lazy Sunday" digital short that premiered last week on Saturday Night Live. It wasn't meant as a malicious edit, it's a honest description of the material given its content. Could you please explain why it was considered vandalism?

:Hmmm.. I don't really recall, but looking at the diff, it may have been that "hilarious" struck me as violating Misplaced Pages's neutral point of view mandate. However, rather than using the adminstrator's "rollback" function to revert with one click (it can be addictive), I should have removed just that word, leaving the Chronicles of Narnia bit that you added, and saved my change with an explanation in the edit summary. I apologize for that. == Oh come now. ==

No sense of humour? That hitchhiker's guide reference was clever and fit well with the subject, and you know it.

] Established ] provides for the removal of the administrative permissions of users who have made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period. Your administrative permissions will be removed&#32;if you do not return to the required activity level before the beginning of November 2024.

Step 1) Delete the page.
Step 2) Select only the edits that you wish to restore. This is a tedious process because the feature requires you to select the edits you want to keep, while not selecting the edits you want to ditch. This can be annoying for articles with a lengthy edit history.
Step 3) Undelete the page. The edits in question will no longer exist.

US Primary Copper Production Chart

Good day Kbh3rd

I appreciate the effort you went to in putting together that 'US Primary Copper Production' chart on the 'Copper mining in the United States' article on Misplaced Pages, as I have found it to be quite interesting. I have a question in relation to this chart, though.

Assuming you have a free moment, I was wondering if you could point me to where exactly you sourced the figures from in the USGS site?

I noticed on the chart that the source is named as being the United States Geological Survey, however, when I visited that site, I wasn't able to work out exactly where the annual copper production data is housed on the site.

If you could point me in the right direction, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your attention, Inchiquin (talk) 23:49, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

I'm sure they changed that page and the location of the data in the several years since I made that chart. I'll look around this weekend and let you know if I can find the latest data.
--Kbh3talk 12:51, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
Following the Commodities link on that page I found this page that has lots of documents. I don't yet see data there for the missing years prior to 2018, but more digging might turn up something. --Kbh3talk 20:57, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

Administrative permissions and inactivity reminder

Information iconThis is a reminder that established policy provides for removal of the administrative permissions of users who have made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period. You are receiving this annual reminder since you have averaged less than 50 edits per year over the last 5 years.

Inactive administrators are encouraged to reengage with the project in earnest rather than to make token edits to avoid loss of administrative permissions. Resources and support for reengaging with the project are available at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Editor Retention/administrators. If you do not intend to be engaged with the project in the foreseeable future, please consider voluntarily resigning your administrative permissions by making a request at the bureaucrats' noticeboard.

Thank you for your past contributions to the project. — JJMC89 bot 00:32, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

Custom signature fix needed

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. Changes to Misplaced Pages's software have made your current custom signature invalid.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error or obsolete HTML tags.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, you can fix your signature, or you can do nothing.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (Do not click the red "Restore all default settings" button, which will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)

Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Click the Learn more button next to the error to learn how to fix the error.
  3. Update your signature to fix the error.
  4. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.

Solution 3: Do nothing:

Pending suspension of administrative permissions due to insufficient activity

Information icon Established policy provides for the removal of the administrative permissions of users who have made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period. Your administrative permissions will be removed if you do not return to the required activity level before the beginning of November 2024.

Inactive administrators are encouraged to engage with the project in earnest rather than to make token edits to avoid loss of administrative permissions. Resources and support for re-engaging with the project are available at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Editor Retention/administrators. If you do not intend to re-engage with the project in the foreseeable future, please consider voluntarily resigning your administrative permissions by making a request at the bureaucrats' noticeboard.

Thank you for your past contributions to the project. — JJMC89 bot 00:26, 1 August 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Misplaced Pages, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:06, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
