Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Thanks for picking this up! As a suggestion, do you intend to resume bot promotion summaries here? is what I'm talking about. If you need help, maybe you could ask Josh Parris for some. Also, you may wish to resume the style used a while back (see ] for an example), where you list the software version number the site is running at publication and a notation of what revision the changes you discuss are. That way, readers will know if a particular change is live. ''Note: not all fixes may have gone live to WMF sites at the time of writing, and some may not be scheduled to go live for many weeks'', while useful to inform readers that a change might not be live, is nebulous and adding definite numbers might help. Just some thoughts. ''÷]'' 02:25, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

== Imminent suspension of administrative permissions due to insufficient activity ==
]
We're half way through 2010, and the end of the WikiCup is in sight! Round 3 is over, and we're down to our final 16. Our pool winners were {{Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Participant|Ian Rose}} (A), {{Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Participant|Sturmvogel_66}} (B, and the round's overall leader), {{Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Participant|ThinkBlue}} (C) {{Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Participant|Casliber}} and {{Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Participant|TonyTheTiger}} (D, joint), but, with the scores reset, everything is to play for in our last pooled round. The pools will be up before midnight tonight, and have been selected randomly by J Milburn. This will be the toughest round yet, and so, as ever, anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at ], and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the ].

Though unaffiliated with the WikiCup, July sees the ]- a project with not dissimilar goals to the WikiCup. Everyone is welcome to take part and do their bit to contribute to the encyclopedia itself.

As was predicted, Group C ended up the "Group of Death", with 670 points required for second place, and, therefore, automatic promotion. Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup!

Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.

For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented several changes to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round.

The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email). Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Imminent suspension of administrative permissions due to insufficient activity

Information icon Established policy provides for the removal of the administrative permissions of users who have made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period. Your administrative permissions will be removed if you do not return to the required activity level before the beginning of February 2025.

Inactive administrators are encouraged to engage with the project in earnest rather than to make token edits to avoid loss of administrative permissions. Resources and support for re-engaging with the project are available at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Editor Retention/administrators. If you do not intend to re-engage with the project in the foreseeable future, please consider voluntarily resigning your administrative permissions by making a request at the bureaucrats' noticeboard.

Thank you for your past contributions to the project. — JJMC89 bot 00:21, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
