Hi @], I respect your ] on ]. Can we please discuss the issue here.

1) I am a good faith editor whose start on Misplaced Pages might have been not that good but I am getting better and now editing the space in good faith.

3) I have edited on Misplaced Pages and in the past month, we can not find a single instance where I indulged in vandalism or POV pushes as mentioned in the enforcement.

I request you to kindly give me a chance to work further on the platform.

Just a quick note. I had a rough lesson a few years ago when I made the mistake of trying to edit a page that mentioned my company (won't do THAT again :). Anyhow it has been a few years and I have been moved to edit again. This time it's a page on a drug that seemed biased to me compared to the other research I was doing.. Anyway I have summoned up the courage to do some edits (gulp!) and would appreciate any help or guidance you have to offer as I go. I want to be very careful and conscientious. I actually have no real medical expertise but in checking the sources it seems that many of them have been very selective regarding the insights they have decided to bring into the article. Every positive statement about the drug is "balanced" with doubts and concerns, leaving an overall impression about the drug that seems extremely negative compared to descriptions from reputable sources like the NIH and NIMH which feel more balanced to me, especially for a drug that has been approved and actively prescribed for 40 years or so for ADHD. I have no idea of why someone would want to skew the article but I suppose there might be all kinds of possible reasons. Anyhow I am contacting you here for two reasons.
:{{u|Doug Weller}}, I don't concern myself overmuch with what people put on their userpage, unless it's extremely inflammatory, personal attacks against other editors, etc. I don't, though, like the "pick-a-closer" behavior, and I'll warn for that. ] <small>]</small> 02:02, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
::I was referring to the "I will learn and work as a Runner (messenger) from one talk page to other." on their talk page and their use of article talk pages to influence articles. But if that's ok, fine. ] ] 08:03, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
:::I think the hope was that they would use talk pages more rather than disruptively edit articles, so I've got no problem with that. Of course if that becomes disruptive as well, that can always be dealt with going forward. ] <small>]</small> 08:36, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

1. I have always remembered your kindness to me when I was new and felt attacked here. I wanted to let you know that this is the primary reason I decided to step up and do some editing when I perceived a bias and had concerns.

Would you care to take a look at the discussion unfolding on ]? Your input is needed.] (]) 23:57, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
2. If you have time I would appreciate some light guidance as I proceed to edit this page. I am still new to editing and don't want to make mistakes, especially since I have zero expertise in this area, although I am not a completely disinterested party (This started because I want to evaluate the drug which was prescribed for my son).

:You'll want to look for the "Active disagreements" heading. Under that, when you go to edit, you'll see a couple of comments in the source text telling you where to put the dispute. == Books & Bytes – Issue 66 ==
] (]) 01:15, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
:Glad you decided to come around and do a bit of editing! Looking at the sources is, of course, the best way to edit an article. I also see you've been going over it on the talk page, which is generally a good idea as well.
:That being said, I'm not sure the sentence the way it's worded is necessarily a good one for the lead paragraph, especially since one of the sources (source 1) explicitly contradicts it, and says users are more prone to cocaine addiction, and that if used in a similar manner to cocaine (snorting/injection) it is indeed just as addictive. Other sources seem to think it is not as much so. When there are conflicting sources like that, it's best to give the issue a more in-depth treatment in the body of the article, where the subject can be given treatment by summarizing either side without taking a particular one. If you can get your hands on the NIMH study that's frequently referenced by other sources, I think that would be very helpful indeed. I don't know offhand how reputable the journals published by source 3 are, but it is a for-profit and explicitly appeals to "marketers" on its website, so I'd tend to take it with a dose of salt. (Luckily, the worst effect of said salt dosage is a healthy sense of skepticism). The article is in pretty poor shape though, and could certainly use some copyediting for flow and tone. As it stands now, it really seems to jump all over the place. I'd work at fixing that first, and once it's in good order as far as its flow and organization goes, you'll often find it's much easier to find a good way to add in additional concepts. That's especially difficult on controversial subjects when you have dueling sources, of course, but since it's a subject that I'm sure you've checked into thoroughly due to your own circumstances, might be worth doing. ] <small>]</small> 08:17, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

== ''The Signpost'': 7 November2011 == == RFC SBM - clarification ==

Hi, I was wondering if you could clarify the closing summary at ].
<div style="-moz-column-count:2; -webkit-column-count:2; column-count:2;">
Specifically, it seems that the summary leaves a lot of ambiguity about which articles are considered SPS and which are not. My sense of the !votes was that specifically articles by the editors (Gorski and Novella) were unreviewed and therefore SPS. But the summary only states that "at least some articles on this site can be considered self-published", which seems to open up every SBM article up for debate.
{{Misplaced Pages:Misplaced Pages Signpost/2011-11-07}}
</div><!--Volume 7, Issue 45-->

<!-- EdwardsBot 0200 -->

You can see an early example of this at ]. SBM is used twice in this article, both articles by Gorski that would seem to fall in the SPS category. One of those citations is used without attribution to support negative content in the lead ("The lab leak theory and its weaponization by politicians have both leveraged and increased anti-Chinese sentiment.").
== ''The Signpost'': 14 November 2011 ==

As you can see, editors at that talk section have argued, citing the closing summary, that these Gorski articles do not need to be treated as SPS, and that the RFC requires no action. If this was not your intent, would you consider rephrasing the closing summary to resolve the ambiguity? - ] (]) 06:56, 13 January 2025 (UTC)

This is a Misplaced Pages user talk page.
This is not an encyclopedia article or the talk page for an encyclopedia article. If you find this page on any site other than Misplaced Pages, you are viewing a mirror site. Be aware that the page may be outdated and that the user whom this page is about may have no personal affiliation with any site other than Misplaced Pages. The original talk page is located at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Seraphimblade.
Scam warningIf you are visiting this page because someone claiming to be me contacted you asking for any payment of any type, it is not me and you are being scammed. If they are threatening to delete or take other adverse action against some article, they can't actually do that and you should not under any circumstances pay them any money or further engage with them. See also this scam warning regarding the Articles for Creation process and editors who edit for pay.
As I frequently work at the arbitration enforcement noticeboard, I am "aware" of all the various areas covered by discretionary sanctions, and this notice may be considered evidence of awareness if enforcement is requested. It is not necessary to leave me notices advising me of such areas.

Please read before posting

  • Post all new sections under a new header at the bottom of this page, not at random. If you make it clear you ignored these instructions by placing it elsewhere, I am likely to ignore your request in turn.
  • If you leave me a message here, I will respond to it here, as fragmented discussions are confusing. I may or may not leave you a notice that I've responded on your talk page. If you specifically request that I do (or do not) give you such a notice when I respond, I'll honor that request. If I contact you on your talk page, I will watchlist it so that I can respond there. If you'd like to leave me a notice when you respond (a ping will also suffice), it would be appreciated, and you'll probably receive a faster followup.
  • No lulztxtspk or emojis on my talk page, please. "You" is spelled "you", "though" is spelled "though", "because" is spelled "because", "people" is spelled "people", and so on. There is no character limit on Misplaced Pages comments, so there is no need whatsoever for ad-hoc abbreviating. If you don't even take yourself seriously, don't expect me to take you seriously either.
  • If you are an admin here to ask me about someone I blocked for vandalism or spamming/advertising, they've agreed to stop it, and you believe they intend to edit productively, go ahead and unblock them. If you still want my opinion please feel free to ask, but there's no obligation. For more complex cases I would appreciate a heads-up, but please go ahead with your best judgment if I don't seem to be online. I would appreciate it if you'd let me know after you do.
  • If you are here to discuss edits made to an article, please use the article talk page, not this talk page, to discuss them. If I made the edit and the question is specifically directed at me, you are welcome to ping me.
  • If you email me a question or request, and do not indicate why the matter is sensitive and must be handled privately (and such is not immediately obvious), I may ignore it or respond on your talk page rather than by return email. Talk pages are open to other editors to read, and so are the preferred method of communication for matters involving Misplaced Pages. If the matter you are speaking to me about is Misplaced Pages-related and would not violate anyone's privacy by being posted publicly, please use my talk page instead of email. This does not, of course, apply to editors who are blocked from editing, though I still may respond on your talk page rather than by return email.

Enforcement on PerspicazHistorian

Hi @Seraphimblade, I respect your comment on Misplaced Pages:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement#PerspicazHistorian. Can we please discuss the issue here.

1) I am a good faith editor whose start on Misplaced Pages might have been not that good but I am getting better and now editing the space in good faith.

2) The enforcement started as a retaliation as mentioned by me in the discussion here.

3) I have edited on Misplaced Pages and in the past month, we can not find a single instance where I indulged in vandalism or POV pushes as mentioned in the enforcement.

I request you to kindly give me a chance to work further on the platform.

Note: I am currently undergoing my semester exams in university till 15th jan, might not respond swiftly. I respect your fair-mindedness and have a good faith that you will take side of Justice.

Thank You ! PPicazHist (talk) 07:51, 8 January 2025 (UTC)

To ensure fairness and that everyone is looking at the same thing, I do not discuss open AE requests outside of AE. Please make any comments at the request, not here. Seraphimblade 12:47, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
Hello @Seraphimblade, I respect your decision and will try to get better and contribute through drafts and talk pages.
Would you please close this move discussion too.
Thanks. PPicazHist (talk) 07:58, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
It will be closed in due course, probably not by me though. Seraphimblade 09:49, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

These edits aren't in article space, so are they ok?

https://en.wikipedia.org/Special:Contributions/PerspicazHistorian] and see . Doug Weller talk 10:32, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

Doug Weller, I don't concern myself overmuch with what people put on their userpage, unless it's extremely inflammatory, personal attacks against other editors, etc. I don't, though, like the "pick-a-closer" behavior, and I'll warn for that. Seraphimblade 02:02, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
I was referring to the "I will learn and work as a Runner (messenger) from one talk page to other." on their talk page and their use of article talk pages to influence articles. But if that's ok, fine. Doug Weller talk 08:03, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
I think the hope was that they would use talk pages more rather than disruptively edit articles, so I've got no problem with that. Of course if that becomes disruptive as well, that can always be dealt with going forward. Seraphimblade 08:36, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
That makes a lot of sense. Thanks. Doug Weller talk 08:43, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

Proper use of template

Would you care to take a look at the discussion unfolding on Talk:Westboro Baptist Church#LGBTQ template in this article? Your input is needed.Davidbena (talk) 23:57, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

Davidbena, not sure why you'd ask me in particular. If you've come to an impasse in discussion, you might consider something like the third opinion or request for comment processes. Seraphimblade 02:01, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
I was thinking of you since you are obviously an uninvolved person and an administrator whom I've seen around on Misplaced Pages, and, yes, I was looking for a person who would know somewhat about the proper use of templates, and, after all, you too are a third person. Feel free to recuse yourself, if you feel that it is beyond your scope. I was unaware of the format of asking for a Third opinion. Now that you've provided me with that, I'll make use of it (WP:3O). Thanks.Davidbena (talk) 04:34, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

@Seraphimblade: I'm having difficulties working with WP:3O on Talk:Westboro Baptist Church#Third party, so, can you please help me with the proper formatting, or instruct me on how to use the platform? I have never used it before.Davidbena (talk) 13:09, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

You'll want to look for the "Active disagreements" heading. Under that, when you go to edit, you'll see a couple of comments in the source text telling you where to put the dispute. Link to the proper section in the article talk page where the dispute is happening, and sign with five tildes so that just the timestamp but not the name appears. Make sure your request neutrally summarizes the dispute (so, "Dispute over inclusion of X", not "X (should|should not) be included.") Seraphimblade 13:14, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

Help me pls

If I have problems on the Spanish Misplaced Pages with an administrator who blocks Misplaced Pages and IRC without reason, what can I do? Who can I contact or how can I report him? GokuJuan (talk) 05:21, 11 January 2025 (UTC)

GokuJuan, there is a section above entitled "Please read before posting". Had you read it before posting, you would have seen the following: No lulztxtspk or emojis on my talk page, please. Whatever "pls" is, it is not a word in the English language. Seraphimblade 07:41, 11 January 2025 (UTC)

Closing, now update of the Perennial sources page for SBM

Hello Seraphimblade and thank you for what I believe to be a perfectly balanced and well worded closing of the discussion on SBM here. This now leaves the question, as I have not been involved directly in an RfC like this that then was closed in a manner that changes the current summary of a source over at the perennial source page. Who should update that now to reflect the current WP:MREL (additional considerations) consensus that you articulated so well? Since you are both uninvolved and the admin/closer, I am assuming you are the best candidate to do that, but I just wanted to check since I am not familiar with the process in full. Have a good day (or night). Iljhgtn (talk) 17:38, 11 January 2025 (UTC)

Anyone could update that. I'm not particularly familiar with it either, so I won't be the one to do it, but you could raise it at the talk page if you like. Seraphimblade 02:42, 12 January 2025 (UTC)

RFC SBM - clarification

Hi, I was wondering if you could clarify the closing summary at Misplaced Pages:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#RFC Science-Based Medicine.

You can see an early example of this at Talk:COVID-19 lab leak theory#Science-Based Medicine - cleanup needed. SBM is used twice in this article, both articles by Gorski that would seem to fall in the SPS category. One of those citations is used without attribution to support negative content in the lead ("The lab leak theory and its weaponization by politicians have both leveraged and increased anti-Chinese sentiment.").

As you can see, editors at that talk section have argued, citing the closing summary, that these Gorski articles do not need to be treated as SPS, and that the RFC requires no action. If this was not your intent, would you consider rephrasing the closing summary to resolve the ambiguity? - Palpable (talk) 06:56, 13 January 2025 (UTC)

Palpable, I really do think it will probably need to be taken case by case in a lot of instances, and I wouldn't want to act as arbiter for particular instances. As your issue is a BLP concern, you could always ask for input at the BLP noticeboard. Seraphimblade 08:33, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
Heh. Thanks for the pointer. - Palpable (talk) 16:53, 13 January 2025 (UTC)

Thanks for the close at RSN
