Usage
{{Split section|Title to which to split |discuss={{TALKPAGENAME}}#Split proposed |date=January 2025}}
The first parameter represents the title for the proposed new page, and |discuss= provides a link to the discussion thread on the talk page of the article proposed to be split (it can be named explicitly or you can use the {{TALKPAGENAME}}"magic word"; |discuss=Talk:{{PAGENAME}}#Split proposed would also work). The example above produces:
Of course, the page "Title" already exists, but your actual page title will most likely be either a red link or a redirect.
If more than one target article needs to be named, use the more robust template {{Split portions}}:
{{Split portions|portion=this section |First title to which to split |Second title to which to split |discuss={{TALKPAGENAME}}#Split proposed |date=January 2025}} (supports up to 20 titles).
Record split on talk pages of the source and target
