Between them during round 4, contestants achieved 12 featured articles, 3 featured lists, 3 featured pictures, 126 good articles, 46 DYK entries, 14 ITN entries, 67 featured article candidate reviews and 147 good article reviews. Excellent progress on the article. I just realized that the article does not reference ]'s biography, . I'd be less concerned if other bios were used in the article, but there aren't. Also, it's contemporary in that it was published in 2011. I haven't read the book, so curious what your thoughts are.—] (]) 17:24, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
:Thank you. Your comments are all very sound and I intend to get through all of them this month. I haven't read the O'Connor book either, but you do make a good point that it's contemporary, and provides the same basic "Jeter is a future HOFer"-type of storyline that would fit, and probably adds some on his persona. I'll try to find any online excerpts I can use, and maybe I'll buy the book. – ] (]) 17:39, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
::I think the book goes into Arod relationship and last contract, so it can be incorporated there at least. I dont think we can call this article comprehensive unless an editor or reviewer has read the book and can vouch for its completeness. For now, I'm just doing a spot check and looking at the article's references. I won't outright oppose the FA as long as progress is being made, but I wont vote for support until it is done either. Do you have a preference for mentioning this in the review? At the very least, we should add to "Further reading" section in the interim.—] (]) 19:34, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

I've done the review which you nominated and have done pretty much all the leg work on the article. My general feeling was that I'd like to cut down on the number of very short sentences in places and have noted where I think we can improve the flow of the prose. I also had a query about the image used plus a question about him being 'overlooked' for the Hall of Fame. It might look a long list but it's only small stuff really which can easily be addressed to nudge it into GA so I'll put it on hold for the time being. It's all on the review page anyway. == Minor league player re-directs ==
I just have a request that you please avoid or at least limit the amount of players that you re-direct to the minor league pages. I'm going to be honest here its kind of annoying when I look up a player to create and it's redirected. But thats only part of the reason for the request. Personally I think these re-directs create unnecessary clutter on the minor league pages. If we are gonna have them, I think they should be the ones that were created, nominated for deletion, and it was determined that it should be re-directed (]). Not just re-directs for the sake of being re-directs (]). Overall though I don't think the pages should have any player bios on them and just have the rosters. There is such a random assortment of players on there, scrubs, top prospects, etc it just makes no sense. I'm gonna bring this up to ] to see what they think as soon as the winning percentage discussion cools off.--] 20:36, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
:I'm not sure I see what the problem is. The idea with the minor league baseball page is to create blurbs for players who may not yet be notable enough for their own pages. When I create a redirect and a section, I always put in enough information to suggest why this person is worth discussing, such as today's ] roster announcement. I agree that we shouldn't have too many players mentioned, but I don't think it's excessive at this point. – ] (]) 23:32, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
::Well my main point is probably that I don't think they should be there anymore, in that case I will bring it to ]. I think either a player has an article or not and there should be no re-directs. Regarding your second point though, if all of the players that appear in an All-Star Futures Game, is a top prospect, etc, I think it will get to the point where it is excessive. I recently saw you added ] to the Orioles page, I mean lets be honest, I don't see anything notable enough with that guy to have a blurb. Having him in my opinion was a little excessive.--] 00:29, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup 2023 September newsletter
The fourth round of the competition has finished, with anyone scoring less than 673 points being eliminated. It was a high scoring round with all but one of the contestants who progressed to the final having achieved an FA during the round. The highest scorers were
- Epicgenius, with 2173 points topping the scores, gained mainly from a featured article, 38 good articles and 9 DYKs. He was followed by
- Sammi Brie, with 1575 points, gained mainly from a featured article, 28 good articles and 50 good article reviews. Close behind was
- Thebiguglyalien, with 1535 points mainly gained from a featured article, 15 good articles, 26 good article reviews and lots of bonus points.
Between them during round 4, contestants achieved 12 featured articles, 3 featured lists, 3 featured pictures, 126 good articles, 46 DYK entries, 14 ITN entries, 67 featured article candidate reviews and 147 good article reviews. Congratulations to our eight finalists and all who participated! It was a generally high-scoring and productive round and I think we can expect a highly competitive finish to the competition.
Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them and within 24 hours of the end of the final. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Misplaced Pages talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
I will be standing down as a judge after the end of the contest. I think the Cup encourages productive editors to improve their contributions to Misplaced Pages and I hope that someone else will step up to take over the running of the Cup. Sturmvogel 66 (talk), and Cwmhiraeth (talk)
Holiday Greetings
Peace is a state of balance and understanding in yourself and between others, where respect is gained by the acceptance of differences, tolerance persists, conflicts are resolved through dialog, people's rights are respected and their voices are heard, and everyone is at their highest point of serenity without social tension. Happy Holidays to you and yours. Always a pleasure to see your work. ―Buster7 ☎
DYK for Emil Bove
On 31 December 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Emil Bove, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Emil Bove), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup!
Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.
For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented several changes to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round.
The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email). Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
