It is with great regret that we need to confirm that Cynthia Ashley-Nelson (User:Cindamuse) passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014. Our thoughts are with Cindy’s family, friends and the Wikimedia community. Her next of kin have been informed prior to releasing this announcement.

Cindy was elected vice-chair of the Wikimedia Affiliations Committee on April 10, 2014. She had traveled to Berlin in order to attend the Affiliations Committee’s annual meeting during the international Wikimedia Conference. Both a long-time Misplaced Pages editor and an expert in organizational development with a professional background of 25 years, she devoted her time, passion and vast expertise to contribute in numerous ways to the free knowledge movement. Cindy was deeply committed to supporting the Wikimedia Foundation’s Global Education Program and to tackling the gender gap issue on Misplaced Pages.
Same article has been incorrectly titled. I made the new title because the other supposed to be represent the parent organization. Having extensive research on real estate companies in the Philippines, I think mine should get preference to be preserved instead of being deleted. Thanks.

In the short time since January that Cindy has been with us in the Affiliations Committee, we have come to value her thoughts, passion and refreshing ideas. She was working very enthusiastically with us, and we are all saddened that we won’t have the chance to learn from all of her ideas, insights and experiences. The months we shared proved her to be a very valuable and engaged member of the committee, which led to her election as AffCom vice-chair.

We are sad beyond words and so is everyone who came to Berlin to participate in the Wikimedia Conference. Her passing is a great loss for everyone in the Wikimedia movement. This morning all the conference attendees gathered together to grieve and talk about the loss of Cindy. We decided that all of us at the Wikimedia Conference could choose to continue the conversations about the future of the movement Cindy cared so much about, as well as spending our time here to remember and celebrate her. She will be greatly missed.

Outgoing chair, Wikimedia Affiliations Committee
We have had 58 people sign up for this drive so far, which compares favorably with our last drive, and 27 have copy-edited at least one article. *The Lord giveth, and The Lord taketh away. While the passage of time may allow us to forgive whatever greater presence you may believe in for taking her away, the passage of time will not result in us forgetting the amazing person she was, her passion for our movement, or the brilliance she brought to her volunteer work. Cynthia, we will miss you and never forget you. --] (])(]) 09:23, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
'''Progress report''':
*I write this message with a very heavy heart. I am extremely grateful for Cynthia's passion, her drive and, most of all, her vision and ideas in making our movement better, in making us a better force for good. In the brief time I got to know Cynthia, she was extremely supportive of the work we did at the Affiliations Committee, was supportive of me as a person, and supportive of new ideas and trends that would have made us more effective in doing the work we do. I sincerely hope that we can continue your legacy, and I look forward to seeing you again soon, wherever that may be. I know you're looking down upon us, smiling as we continue to remember the work you've done and the work we will continue to do in your honor and memory. --] (]) 09:45, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
Our target of completing the 2010 articles has almost been reached, with only 56 remaining of the 194 we had at the start of the drive. The last ones are always the most difficult, so thank you if you are able to help copy-edit any of the remaining articles. We have reduced the total backlog by 163 articles so far.
*Cynthia, I remember occasionally bumping into you while doing admin stuff here on en.wiki and I always noticed your kindness and your passion. My thoughts are with you and your family. <span style="text-shadow:grey 0.118em 0.118em 0.118em;" class="texhtml"> ''']'''</span> ] 09:49, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

*(I just got back from ], so this may be a bit jumbled.) I just got the news of your passing while doing some last minute facebooking on my phone before going to bed. Now, I am completely shocked. To think that a person who I talked to once a month and emailed every few days during my freshman year of college is now gone...I am not sure what to feel. While we locked horns a decent amount of times, I always respected your thoughtful insight into how colleges and wikipedia should interact. I also echo what Jan says above, you made the steering committee a better place. I hope you are at peace now. --] &#124; ] 10:27, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

* A great loss to the world. Her wiki persona could be a little strict, but elsewhere she was inclusive and warm. She was often able to put people at ease from all across the social spectrum , with her charm and lively sense of humor. Although able to command a high wage from the private sector consulting on quality and process re-engineering, she did huge amounts of pro bono work over the last 15 years for dozens of anti trafficking organisations. She didn't just restrict herself to strategy level, but often got in amongst it, using her charm on a one to one level encouraging former prostitutes and porn stars to speak out. She also liked to work with faith groups and leaders, such as brother Adrian Warnock here in London. While she'll regret leaving behind the many family members and friends who she loved here on earth, her thoughts often turned to those who had preceded her into the next life, and she longed for a closer union with Christ. At least now she's united with them, in that ravishing, ever new place called heaven. ] (]) 08:26, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

*Hi there! Userpages may be protected by request, if there is evidence of vandalism/disruption or another good reason to do so. User talk pages are rarely protected, and are semi-protected for a short time, only in the most severe cases of vandalism from IP users. == I do not appreciate your effort ==

First of all: opening with a line like "Welcome to Misplaced Pages" and "Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia" when communicating with a regular user is distasteful. Second, It may well be that you are right. Perhaps you are a native speaker of English, and hence, you can behold something in the text that I can't. It is not a big concern. Given that this is a stub article and I do not think that putting those tags there had any justification. I would rather you fixed the mistakes why you put the tags there rathen than edit-warring over them.--] (]) 09:20, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
*When editors review new articles, a responsibility of the process includes identifying any outstanding issues and placing maintenance templates. ] is one of the core policies on Misplaced Pages. Creating articles lacking references is a vital concern in the community. The "welcome" comment in the template is a standard message. Note that removal of maintenance templates, without addressing the issues to which they refer is considered disruptive. ***{{tps}} Nmate, maintenance templates are not there to criticize, they are there to help attract people to improve articles - they put the article in special categories that other people (eg copy editors) will examine to find things to work on. ***As an example, look at ]. It has no references and it should have some, and it could indeed do with a little bit of copy editing. == '''Re: Ultrasoft - pictures marked for speedy deletion''' ==

Hi Cindamuse, please do not delete those pictures, I think I have clearly stated when I was uploading them, that I ''myself'' am Louis Wittek, founder of Ultrasoft and have therefore copyright to all those game titles and their artwork (as I have co-created & published every single one of them) as well as those magazine covers (as I was a founder, chief editor & publisher of Bit). If you need any proof of my identity, or indeed a proof that I actually ''was'' a managing director of the aforementioned company, please do not hesitate to ask me. Thank you for your understanding, Louis Wittek
--] (]) 15:22, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
*Oh, I won't delete the images personally. I've just requested a community discussion. The Fair Use policy requires that images accompany articles about the subject of the image presented, offering critical commentary. For example, cover art of an album may be used in an article specifically about the album, but cannot be used in an article about the musician. In the same vein, you have used the cover art images of video games and magazines in an article about an organization. The community will be discussing the Fair Use policy, as it applies to the ] article and use of the images added. Note that while I have no reason to disregard your claims of identity or copyright ownership, we cannot rely on assertions without irrefutable proof. This is done for the protection of individuals and organizations holding copyright. I would recommend that you follow through with donating the images by ''']''' and contacting the Wikimedia Foundation as instructed at the link. If you need help or have additional questions, please feel free to contact me anytime. <font color="navy" face="Tahoma">]</font><font color="purple" face="Courier">(])</font> 16:34, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
*I see. With regards to: "...cover art of an album may be used in an article specifically about the album, but cannot be used in an article about the musician..." - this is ''precisely'' why I did not use a single cover of a game or a screenshot from a single game, but a collage of several artworks. This has a twofold function: '''a)''' it demonstrates the type of products the company was producing. '''b)''' it serves as an unmistakable proof that the company ''actually'' existed and produced the products which it claims it did (as per '''General notability guideline:''' "'Significant coverage' means that sources address the subject directly in detail, so no original research is needed to extract the content.") Also, I am not planning to create a web page for each of the Ultrasoft's games, as I do not think they themselves are very significant (perhaps later, maybe a couple of the most successful titles) so it is necessary to illustrate for the reader what type of products are we talking here about. Similarly with the ''Bit'' magazine - the collage picture both demonstrates how the magazine looked like, and, backs the claim that it ''actually'' existed and has been issued between those two dates as stated in the article. And again, I have no intention to create a separate web page for the magazine, as I do not consider it so significant in itself. What ''is'' significant is the company Ultrasoft, which produced 10 times more titles than some companies e.g. ] which are listed on Misplaced Pages for years, so I do believe that by not including it, the significant and important piece of the puzzle which makes up the history of video game development would be missing.
*With regards to: "...I would recommend that you follow through with donating the images..." - I thought that is precisely what I did - donated the images to Wikimedia Foundation. Or not? Frankly, uploading images on Misplaced Pages is not what I would call a simple or straightforward process :o)) - So where did I go wrong? What option I was supposed to tick? Thanks for your help. <small><span class="autosigned">— Preceding ] comment added by ] (] • ]) 22:29, 28 August 2012 (UTC)</span></small><!-- Template:Unsigned --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

A brief introduction to Cynthia's life, delivered April 12th, upon her death during the Wikimedia Conference 2014
Rest in peace

You can share your condolences and memories of Cynthia here on her user talk page.

On behalf of the whole Affiliations Committee, and the other community members gathered here in Berlin:

Carlos Colina,
Chair, Wikimedia Affiliations Committee

Bence Damokos,
Outgoing chair, Wikimedia Affiliations Committee

I shot this in Berlin, while thinking of you. RIP :( --Elitre (talk) 13:51, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

a-musing muse
Thank you, Cyndy, for living "Involve me and I learn", for "time, passion and expertise " devoted to free knowledge, for quality articles such as Washington: A Life and Lord Ashley, for cleaning up articles of "biographies, autobiographies, and memoirs", for your "Todo" and clarity, for backgound both tongue-in-cheek ("Princess will do in a pinch.") and professional ("Prepare to die."), - you were an awesome Wikipedian!
