== About deleting the page Kumar Parakala ==

Hi there, This is regarding the article "Kumar Parakala". The article that was being considered for deletion was the old one and was subsequently deleted as of 23rd May 2011. A new article with the same name was created and was in existence for almost 2 months. I have been in contact with[REDACTED] through out the process and the article was wriiten in a manner that wiki approves of. Can you please explain why is the article deleted even though there has been no recent talks about deleting the article. ] (]) 06:38, 26 September 2012 (UTC)Priyanka Lewis
:Yes, it was deleted under criterion A8 which allows the deletion of pages which have previously been deleted following an ] discussion. ] (]) 06:45, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

But the page that was deleted was a previous one and had content without proper citations and references. The present article was not being considered for deletion. The {{tl|FLRCClosed}} template that to ] doesn't exist. I looked around, specifically at the ], but couldn't see a mention of it anywhere. == TFL Changes ==

Hi TRM,

Thank you for contacting me personally and explaning the TFL changes. This is probably going to be a better way to process the blurbs in the long run, although the change I would most like to see is to have a TFL more than once a week. I've added two blurb suggestions to the new system that had already been established by the old system. Would it be best if I didn't have more than two there at a time? I would be glad to fill up the rest of the slots if that's allowed under the new system.

] (]) 14:39, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

:Hey Neelix, we're up to nine already so I guess no. I'm moving away from being involved in the process for a bit, it was a real surprise to me to see a few colleagues really express their disappointment in the way it had gone, particularly since, other than me, only WFC and you had shown any real interest in the way the process was running. I won't be selecting TFLs for a while now and hope that a fresh approach from other people might invigorate the process or encourage more input. Thanks again for all the effort you put into TFL version 1.0, I couldn't have done it without you, and I hope you're as proud as I am of getting decent quality, relevant FLs on the main page. I hope it continues to succeed! ] (]) 20:13, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

::TRM, I hope you don't believe that my comments were intended to be critical of the job you have done at TFL. You have done the best job you can with the lists that we have been given to work with, not to mention that you are the main reason TFL got off the ground at all. I hope you will come back to selecting TFLs at some point in the near-future. ] (]) 16:19, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

; Some Tips About References/Sources

== ''The Signpost'': 12 December 2024 ==
Having references included in articles is one of the most important aspects to a good article, let alone Misplaced Pages! Without them, no one would ever know what is true and what is false and Misplaced Pages probably wouldn't be where it is today. So this month, I will talk about how to check for references, how reliable they are, and so on and so forth.

<div lang="en" dir="ltr" class="mw-content-ltr"><div style="-moz-column-count:2; -webkit-column-count:2; column-count:2;"> {{Misplaced Pages:Misplaced Pages Signpost/2024-12-12}} </div><!--Volume 20, Issue 17, manually published--> <div class="hlist" style="margin-top:10px; font-size:90%; padding-left:5px; font-family:Georgia, Palatino, Palatino Linotype, Times, Times New Roman, serif;"> * ''']''' * ] * ] * ] (]) 21:59, 12 December 2024 (UTC) </div></div>
The first thing to do when reviewing an nominee is to do a quick scan of the article. One of the things to look for is if the article has references! If you don't see a list at the bottom of the article page, quick-fail it.<ref>Before quick-failing the article, verify that one of the several referencing templates is correctly placed at the bottom of the article. If the template is not placed, try to place it to see if references are displayed. If this proof returns no references, then proceed to quick-failing.</ref> For newcomers, quick-failing is failing an article when you spot a problem before actually conducting a full review. If you do find a list of references (and in most cases you will) make sure to look through each and every one. If you want to save some time, use as it will tell you if there are any problematic references in the article you are reviewing.
<!-- Message sent by User:Bri@enwiki using the list at https://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Misplaced Pages:Wikipedia_Signpost/Subscribe&oldid=1262352523 -->

== ] FLCR ==
Next, check the reliability and type of the references/sources. In terms of the type of reference, check to see how many primary and/or secondary sources are included. Primary sources are the ones published by the subject of the article. For example, if the subject of the article has to do with the ] and the source is published by ], it is considered a primary source. Secondary sources are those ''not'' published by the subject of the article (or in close relation to it). Newspapers are examples of secondary sources and considered one of the better types to include in the article (not saying primary sources are bad). If you find that most/all of the references are primary sources, notify the nominator about this issue(s) and place the article on hold once you have completed the review. Only in the event that a secondary source can't be found as a replacement, then the primary source can remain. If there is a good mix of primary and secondary sources, that is perfect and no references need to be changed.

I have nominated ] for featured list removal. Please ] on whether this article meets the ]. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks; editors may declare to "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are ].<!-- Template:FLRCMessage -->
Now, reliability. Forums are generally not considered reliable and some blog's may not be reliable either. Newspapers, most sources published by the subject, some blogs, etc. are considered reliable. If you don't know wether the source is reliable, ask for a second opinion. For more info about how to identify wether a reference is reliable or not, visit ].

== New Task forces at WikiProject Cricket ==
Finally, one of the more basic things to look for is that every statement in the article has at least one reference! The only case that a statement doesn't need a reference is when it is common sense that the statement is defiantly true and/or in the case where the statement can't be challenged, as per what Misplaced Pages says, "All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable published source using an inline citation."

WikiCup 2024 November newsletter

The 2024 WikiCup has come to an end, with the final round being a very tight race. Our new champion is AirshipJungleman29 (submissions), who scored 2,283 points mainly through 3 high-multiplier FAs and 3 GAs on military history topics. By a 1% margin, Airship beat out last year's champion, Delaware BeanieFan11 (submissions), who scored second with 2,264 points, mainly from an impressive 58 GAs about athletes. In third place, Generalissima (submissions) scored 1,528 points, primarily from two FAs on U.S. Librarians of Congress and 20 GAs about various historical topics. Our other finalists are: Sammi Brie (submissions) with 879 points, Canada Hey man im josh (submissions) with 533 points, BennyOnTheLoose (submissions) with 432 points, Arconning (submissions) with 244 points, and Christmas Island AryKun (submissions) with 15 points. Congratulations to our finalists and all who participated!

The final round was very productive, and contestants had 7 FAs, 9 FLs, 94 GAs, 73 FAC reviews, and 79 GAN reviews and peer reviews. Altogether, Misplaced Pages has benefited greatly from the activities of WikiCup competitors all through the contest. Well done everyone!

All those who reached the final will receive awards and the following special awards will be made, based on high performance in particular areas of content creation. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, these prizes are awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round, or in the event of a tie, to the overall leader in this field.

Next year's competition will begin on 1 January. You are invited to sign up to participate; the WikiCup is open to all Wikipedians, both novices and experienced editors, and we hope to see you all in the 2025 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement!
