I just read through the Miss Asia pacific World article. And it is filled with biased material made by obviously pro-pageant users. Or even officials for the pageant it seems. For example one sentence says that the pageant is known for the BBCs mishandling of the 2011 "scandal" which is 100% biased information just to mention one strange thing about this article. I also notice that the article has excessive amounts of references for example one line has about 10 refs to it. I will trim the article down right now and when you come around to check it out feel free to add or remove further info. Thanks.--] (]) 12:34, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

:Hi. I think what you want to read is ]. If few or no editors participate in a discussion, the nomination is closed at the best judgment of the closer. Usually, if no one objects to deletion, then the default outcome is delete. However, usually the nomination is relisted to a maximum of 2 times before any such action occurs. Sometimes, if a discussion receives only a few opinions, the nomination can be closed as no consensus ''with no prejudice against speedy renomination''. == Admin ==
I have often thought about applying to be an admin; however, I'm not sure about the time commitment. How much time do you, as an admin, commit to editing? I've been doing this for 15 years, but on my own time. <b><span style= "font-family: Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color:#00C000"> ]] (])</span></b> 23:37, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
: @]: Being an administrator just means that you have extra buttons in your user interface. I think a lot of people have the impression that being an administrator is hard, time-consuming, and confrontational work, and while it is true that it ''can'' be stressful and eat up a lot of time, that's only if you ''choose'' to work in the administrative areas that require you to make those kinds of difficult decisions (places like ] or ]). While that kind of work is no doubt important and necessary for the project to function, the secret is that you can simply choose not to work in those areas and simply continue editing as you always have—the only difference being that you can carry out admin actions yourself when you need to, instead of asking someone else to do it. The only hard requirements for maintaining adminship are quite easy to maintain: see ]. {{pb}} With that being said, in order to become an administrator, you need to pass ], and some editors might oppose your request for adminship if your activity level is too low. They might argue that, even though you’ve been editing so long, since you haven’t been that active, you don’t have as much experience as other candidates. ] (]) 22:18, 30 December 2024 (UTC)

Theres nothing on the talk page about it, although there is discussion of a later speedy delete requested by an ip user. Unfortunately the admin who responded to that is retired now, so I am asking you instead. Also, the creation of that page by ColonelWarden is marked as "restore content". Does that mean that the article existed before, and then was deleted, and then ressurected by ColonelWarden?

Replies: Sometimes, I will reply on your talk page; if I do this, I will link the diff to my reply here. However, usually, in order to keep the discussion in one place, I will reply here, and I'll use either {{ping}} or {{talkback}} or both to inform you of the reply.

Administrators' newsletter – September 2024
News and updates for administrators from the past month (August 2024).
Interface administrator changes
- Following an RfC, there is a new criterion for speedy deletion: C4, which
applies to unused maintenance categories, such as empty dated maintenance categories for dates in the past
. - A request for comment is open to discuss whether Notability (species) should be adopted as a subject-specific notability guideline.
- Following a motion, remedies 5.1 and 5.2 of World War II and the history of Jews in Poland (the topic and interaction bans on My very best wishes, respectively) were repealed.
- Remedy 3C of the German war effort case ("Cinderella157 German history topic ban") was suspended for a period of six months.
- The arbitration case Historical Elections is currently open. Proposed decision is expected by 3 September 2024 for this case.
- Editors can now enter into good article review circles, an alternative for informal quid pro quo arrangements, to have a GAN reviewed in return for reviewing a different editor's nomination.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in September 2024 to reduce the number of unreviewed articles and redirects in the new pages feed. Currently, there is a backlog of over 13,900 articles and 26,200 redirects awaiting review. Sign up here to participate!

Administrators' newsletter – October 2024
News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2024).
- Administrator elections are a proposed new process for selecting administrators, offering an alternative to requests for adminship (RfA). The first trial election will take place in October 2024, with candidate sign-up from October 8 to 14, a discussion phase from October 22 to 24, and SecurePoll voting from October 25 to 31. - Following a discussion, the speedy deletion reason "File pages without a corresponding file" has been moved from criterion G8 to F2. This does not change what can be speedily deleted.
- A request for comment is open to discuss whether there is a consensus to have an administrator recall process.
- The arbitration case Historical elections has been closed.
- An arbitration case regarding Backlash to diversity and inclusion has been opened.
- Editors are invited to nominate themselves to serve on the 2024 Arbitration Committee Electoral Commission until 23:59 October 8, 2024 (UTC).

Administrator Elections: Call for Candidates
Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates
The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Administrator elections/October 2024/Call for candidates.
Here is the schedule:
- October 8–14 - Candidate sign-up (we are here)
- October 22–24 - Discussion phase
- October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
Please note the following:
- The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
- Prospective candidates are advised to become familar with the community's expectations of adminstrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Misplaced Pages:Advice for RfA candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
- The process will have a one week call for candidates phase, a one week pause to set up SecurePoll, a three-day period of public discussion, followed by 7 days of no public discussion and a private vote using SecurePoll.
- The outcomes of this process are identical to making requests for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA or administrator elections.
- Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.
Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.
To avoid sending too many messages, this will be the last mass message sent about administrator elections. If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

Administrator Elections: Discussion phase
Administrator Elections | Discussion phaseThe discussion phase of the October 2024 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:
- October 22–24 - Discussion phase
- October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
- November 1–? - Scrutineering phase
During October 22–24, we will be in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages will open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Misplaced Pages:Administrator elections/October 2024/Discussion phase.
On October 25, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote tallies cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's tally during the election. The suffrage requirements are different from those at RFA.
Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for an indeterminate amount of time, perhaps a week or two. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose). As this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").
Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

Invitation to participate in a research
Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Misplaced Pages, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message
Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}
to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:21, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
Invitation to provide feedback
Inspired by Worm That Turned's re-RfA where he noted administrators don't get a lot of feedback or suggestions for improvement, I have decided to solicit feedback. I'm reaching out to you as you are currently one of the users I've selected as part of my recall process. I hope you will consider taking a few moments to fill out my feedback form. Clicking on the link will load the questions and create a new section on my user talk. Thanks for your consideration. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 15:58, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
Administrators' newsletter – December 2024
News and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2024).
Interface administrator changes
- Following an RFC, the policy on restoration of adminship has been updated. All former administrators may now only regain the tools following a request at the Misplaced Pages:Bureaucrats' noticeboard within 5 years of their most recent admin action. Previously this applied only to administrators deysopped for inactivity.
- Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, T5, has been enacted. This applies to template subpages that are no longer used.
- Technical volunteers can now register for the 2025 Wikimedia Hackathon, which will take place in Istanbul, Turkey. Application for travel and accommodation scholarships is open from November 12 to December 10, 2024.
- The arbitration case Yasuke (formerly titled Backlash to diversity and inclusion) has been closed.
- An arbitration case titled Palestine-Israel articles 5 has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case will close on 14 December.

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Defunct high schools in Japan
A tag has been placed on Category:Defunct high schools in Japan indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz 07:23, 6 December 2024 (UTC)

Admin
I have often thought about applying to be an admin; however, I'm not sure about the time commitment. How much time do you, as an admin, commit to editing? I've been doing this for 15 years, but on my own time. Dillard421♂♂ 23:37, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Dillard421: Being an administrator just means that you have extra buttons in your user interface. I think a lot of people have the impression that being an administrator is hard, time-consuming, and confrontational work, and while it is true that it can be stressful and eat up a lot of time, that's only if you choose to work in the administrative areas that require you to make those kinds of difficult decisions (places like WP:ANI or WP:ARBCOM). While that kind of work is no doubt important and necessary for the project to function, the secret is that you can simply choose not to work in those areas and simply continue editing as you always have—the only difference being that you can carry out admin actions yourself when you need to, instead of asking someone else to do it. The only hard requirements for maintaining adminship are quite easy to maintain: see WP:INACTIVITY. With that being said, in order to become an administrator, you need to pass WP:RFA, and some editors might oppose your request for adminship if your activity level is too low. They might argue that, even though you’ve been editing so long, since you haven’t been that active, you don’t have as much experience as other candidates. Mz7 (talk) 22:18, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hmm. Something to look at. Thank you for taking the time to reply. I'll look at what you linked and when I decide the time is right, I'll come back to you for advice. I appreciate you! Dillard421♂♂ 06:08, 7 January 2025 (UTC)

- Following an RFC, Misplaced Pages:Notability (species) was adopted as a subject-specific notability guideline.
- A request for comment is open to discuss whether admins should be advised to warn users rather than issue no-warning blocks to those who have posted promotional content outside of article space.
- The Nuke feature also now provides links to the userpage of the user whose pages were deleted, and to the pages which were not selected for deletion, after page deletions are queued. This enables easier follow-up admin-actions.
- Following the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections, the following editors have been elected to the Arbitration Committee: CaptainEek, Daniel, Elli, KrakatoaKatie, Liz, Primefac, ScottishFinnishRadish, Theleekycauldron, Worm That Turned.
