==Spoken article==

Thanks for the feedback. I try not to speak too much blardystrayianmate when in polite company, or when recording spoken articles. I just sit in front of the mic, and pretend I'm the Australian version of ] narrating a documentary film. Bet you couldn't pick the difference, except for the accent, eh? :)

Your recording of ] is spoken clearly and accurately, and is very easy to listen to. If you're worried about "sounding" nervous, don't be. Most of us have the same doubts the first time round. The more you do this, the easier it gets. -- ] 09:27, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

::I agree with Macropode. Your Renaissance narration was very good for a first recording. I've posted some detailled thoughts ]--but please take them with a grain of salt as one listener's opinion, rather than written-in-stone dictates. There is a lot of room on Spoken Misplaced Pages for many different voices and their accompanying styles. It adds to the project richness. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't get too caught up in trying to please every critic: remember that it's YOUR recording and have fun with it. ] ] 22:32, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

==Pin/pen==

I simply meant that I've never noticed a widespread impression of the pin/pen merger as a southernism but I don't hear people outside of linguistic circles even talking about it.

I would not be surprised if its appearance in California is related to southerners traveling west during the dust bowl or whenever, but it could just as easily be coincidence. ] 03:09, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

:: FWIW, I'm from the South, even though I've been told I have a "California" or "Mid West" or otherwise non-southern accent--and I had no clue they were pronounced differently until I took a linguistics course with a professor from Pennsylvania. ] ] 22:34, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for writing and explaining. I am sorry, I did not realise what you had intended to do. I also like what your are thinking about with regard to the CD of "La Fille mal gardee". It is very appropriate. ] 07:46, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

== Spelling ==

I don't understand why you changed s to z in ]. Policy says to leave spellings as they are, in general (either BE or AE) - the spelling policy isn't about bias, it's about harmony. I'm not sure why you would choose to edit war against policy. What compelling reason is there to change it from BE to AE? ] 13:00, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
:Did you read the talk page? The anon who was involved in the edit war (I was not the anon, for the record) left a message regarding that issue. There were 8 cases of fossilize and 2 of fossilise, and as the z-spelling is accepted (if not preferred) in BE, I changed those 2 for the sake of consistency. ] 02:12, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

== Use of tools to autorevert ==

On ], you used a Javascript tool to revert. This tool is intended only for obvious cases of vandalism, not for content disputes. By using this tool, you falsely advertised that the previous version was vandalized, and you failed to list a genuine reason for your revert. This is not good. Please do not abuse the tool further. ] 00:35, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
:It is vandalism when someone attempts to reinsert their POV, but you're right, I shouldn't have used the popups on that. I forgot it doesn't let you enter a reason when reverting. I apologize. ] 00:42, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
::It takes a lot for a content dispute to qualify as vandalism. In particular, it has to be clear that the intent of the editor is to harm the article, not merely to settle a content dispute in their favor. This distinction becomes rather important if you violate ] and try to defend yourself by saying you were only reverting vandalism. ] 00:51, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Why was ]'s grandaughter ''Sillian Eckers'' removed from the list of deathblinds? She ''was'' an actual deafblind whom garnered fame from Aletrishe's writing. I understand you're fairly new to Misplaced Pages, but please donot go removing stuff from articles without knowledge about them. I realised moments ago I had included Aletrishe to the list by mistake, Sorry for that. But Sillian was famous (during life and after death) and still remains in the memories of Aletrishe's readers in Southern Africa. Thanks, -] 01:03, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
:I didn't do it because I'm new, I did it because you had allegations that Hellen Keller was a lesbian, which is nonsense. After that, I checked your edit and was unable to find any of the names you had added to ] on Google, so I assumed it was intended as vandalism. Perhaps I acted in haste, as Google is not the world, but where did you get the information about the people you listed? ] 01:17, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Your June 6th edit of ] actually added back a large amount of vandalism that some kind soul was trying to remove. Please review content before you revert. Thank you. ] 14:33, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
:Yes, I realized that later. It's difficult to distinguish these things at times, which is the vandals' intention some times. It's also likely multiple users were on computers from that IP and viewing the page about their town out of curiosity; the same IP that had made the numerous edits prior to my reversion ( is the specific edit that prompted my attention) proceeded to make edit, despite its prior of vandalism. ] 16:05, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

== Spoken articles ==

Howdy - Please note that spoken articles must be licensed as GFDL (not PD) since they are derivative works of Misplaced Pages's GFDL licensed content. Thanks & keep up the good work! -]] 08:02, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
:Thanks for watching out for that! Did you go through ''every'' spoken article? I notice you corrected the category page and three of mine. :) I'm curious about the {{]}} -> {{]}} though, since it's my voice and all. ] 08:49, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Yep, I'm going through all the recently added articles as I update the RSS feed. My feeling about GFDL-self is that the tag is misleading for spoken articles. The tag implies that you are the original creator of the content and you could have released it under any license. This is not the case for spoken articles because, being derivative GFDL works, they must be released under the GFDL license. -]] 09:03, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
:Good point, I'll make sure to use the plain ol' GFDL tag from now on. ] 10:24, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Time Enough at Last.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Time Enough at Last.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:02, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:The Old Man in the Cave.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:The Old Man in the Cave.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Misplaced Pages is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page.
