City of License on TV stations is NOT always first. I urge you to look at youtube videos of station IDs. KPNX is in Phoenix but its COL is the suburb of Mesa. Its seen on TV as KPNX-TV KPNX-DT Phoenix-Mesa. WOI-TV in Des Moines has Ames for its COL. Its calls itself WOI-TV WOI-DT Des Moines-Ames. COL is much more relaxed with the FCC. As long as the COL has a city grade signal and top of the hour ID they are happy with that. Putting the anchor city below the station logo seems like more sense. Its the market that station serves. <small>—Preceding ] comment added by ] (] • ]) 22:20, 3 April 2008 (UTC)</small><!-- Template:Unsigned --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

The actual the official station logo under Sunbeam Television does have a NBC Peacok logo in it I have seen it. (Also look at the bottom left hand corner of their website's main page and you'll see the 7 logo with a peacock as well). I also remember doing some research on the station about 5 years ago and their official logo had a NBC peacock in it with in bold letters saying WHDH-TV under both 7 and the peacock. The logo that you have displayed is only their news logo and NOT the official station logo. Also why would have the station's non-news brand be called ''7NBC'' if it didn't have a peacock (or the letters) in its official logo?

There's Fox Florida. --] ] 15:25, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Yeah... I also wanted to point out regarding the UPN and WB stations... In each of these templates -- reflecting to the huge higher in the talk page that I showed you days ago -- you want to place a little note underneath the Table name -- (i.e.: for UPN stations, <br><small>'''Note: In parenthesis is the alternate affiliation following the UPN shutdown -- Effective ] ]'''</small><br>) Here you would put whether the stations would joining ] or ] or if infact the station would become ] and you put it in parenthesis "()" along the station's immediate service area -- (i.e.: ] (], ]) for Los Angeles' UPN station.)

Should you find a station that hasn't decided its affiliation then you put "ND" for "not yet decided". (i.e.: ] (], ND) -- for the Fox/UPN stations in Traverse City, Michigan.)

Also -- for stations that will carry one of these networks on a digital subchannel -- you would put the following:

Example using Cincinnati CBS station WKRC:

] (]) -- because it would be a new subchannel it is best to wait 'til after The CW has launched.

For other stations:

In Madison, WI... ] (], ]) -- in the UPN Wisconsin Template.

Dear sir or madam:
I feel that the Misplaced Pages is a very inaccurate (which has been proven) and childish website. You proved the childish part with your comment "Removed link that no longer is useful because the idiot, and yes, I do mean idiot, who runs that site took it down b/c it was linked from wikipedia". You shouldn't be calling people idiots. I feel that Misplaced Pages should not link to my site so I removed the page. It is protected speech in both the United States and in Canada. Given the fact that most of the editors on Misplaced Pages are either high schoolers or have the mental age of high schoolers I do not wish to have anything to do with it, save for this complaint which will be my first and most likely last comment on this bloody website. == How to sort Statewide Network Listings ==

The parameters of this (potential) project are up for discussion, but it could include some or all of the following (as well as things that may occur to you that have not occurred to me):
I have created a category for all of these templates...

*Creation, maintenance, and improvement of ].
Go to:
*Use of C-SPAN programming in citations for various topics
*Inclusion of unique and targeted C-SPAN video links for various articles. (Doing this with respect for established guidelines at ].) (Example: If you are interested in the submarine ], then having easy access to the eight hours of programming taped while a C-SPAN crew were guests on that submarine could also be of interest to you.)
*Inclusion of (and possible further creation of) templated links such as <nowiki>{{C-SPAN|laurabush}}</nowiki>, that will easily take article readers to a link of all ] links for the person about whom the article is about.
*What else?

I don't know exactly how far we may want to go, nor in what directions, but I do believe (]) that C-SPAN and Misplaced Pages are both...
These templates will be classified as "Intrastate Broadcast Templates"!!!

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 13:16, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:WTSPTV.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MNTVHDIdent.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:MNTVHDIdent.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Misplaced Pages:Non-free content. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oak999 (talkcontribs) 22:20, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Don Bishop

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Don Bishop, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Misplaced Pages is not" and Misplaced Pages's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. News from the diamond
From the Editors

Baseball has a history unlike any other sport. It has been played in countless countries throughout the decades, and it will undoubtedly continue play for many more. On this eve, some the finest players the sport has to offer will take the field at the Yankee Stadium. Four popes spoke there, Pelé scored goals there, "The Greatest Game Ever Played" was battled out there, John Philip Sousa lead a band there, George Costanza worked there; but what do all these events have in common? They fail to reach the level of greatness that the baseball that was played there did.

In 1923, a man named Babe Ruth decided to build a new house, and over the years, that house was a home to some of the greatest baseball ever played. If I were to list out all of these great moments, it would be longer than the bill for the New Yankee Stadium. So I'll sum it up by saying that we can remember these great moments by adding them to this place we've gathered at for future generations to read about, to learn about, to dream about; but more importantly we can watch tonight and we can remember how baseball is unlike anything else that we will encounter in our lives. — Blackngold29

3RR Warning

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Barbara West (TV news anchor). Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. --Amwestover (talk|contrib) 21:23, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:FOX19WXIX.png)

Thanks for uploading File:FOX19WXIX.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

WVTV

The station identification currently goes by WVTV-DT with the dash as of tonight. However I will wait until the FCC places it in the database. I guess right now these are tough calls until the FCC categorizes every new callsign change (which I could see taking weeks). Nate(chatter) 03:47, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the Barnstar

Thank you very much. Now certainly there are artcles that need to go... and I am not adverse to voting delete for such... but if due diligence shows something CAN be improved for Misplaced Pages, it should be. Throwing it on the trash heap is supposed to be a last resort and only if all other options have been considered. It will happen though... and my own rescues show that such is possible with a bit of care and some work. So thanks... and happy editing. Schmidt, 20:41, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello CFIF! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 11 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Replaceable fair use File:RobertBazell.PNG

Thanks for uploading File:RobertBazell.PNG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Misplaced Pages articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

WikiProject C-SPAN?

Greetings fellow Misplaced Pages editor -

I am leaving you this note because I have reason to believe that you are interested in C-SPAN. (I may have made this assumption based on your C-SPAN user box, or perhaps for some other reason.) If this is not an interest of yours, please feel free to read no further and delete this message.

If you are in fact someone who is interested in C-SPAN, then let me put forward an idea that I have been kicking around for a while. What if we started a C-SPAN WikiProject?

The parameters of this (potential) project are up for discussion, but it could include some or all of the following (as well as things that may occur to you that have not occurred to me):

  • Creation, maintenance, and improvement of articles and lists directly related to C-SPAN and its programming.
  • Use of C-SPAN programming in citations for various topics
  • Inclusion of unique and targeted C-SPAN video links for various articles. (Doing this with respect for established guidelines at Misplaced Pages:External links.) (Example: If you are interested in the submarine USS Wyoming (SSBN-742), then having easy access to the eight hours of programming taped while a C-SPAN crew were guests on that submarine could also be of interest to you.)
  • Inclusion of (and possible further creation of) templated links such as {{C-SPAN|laurabush}}, that will easily take article readers to a link of all C-SPAN Video Library links for the person about whom the article is about.
  • What else?

I don't know exactly how far we may want to go, nor in what directions, but I do believe (as I have long noted on my user page) that C-SPAN and Misplaced Pages are both...

...fantastic vehicles for the free exchange of ideas and information in a non-sound-bite manner, and they both invite the participation of any parties (expert or amateur) who are interested in taking the time to absorb and/or contribute to the ideas and information offered. C-SPAN and Misplaced Pages go together like peanut butter and jelly, and I want to help give other Wiki users easy access to the great work that C-SPAN has done on a variety of topics.

Now, I should mention that I have never started a WikiProject before, and I do not know the best way to go about it. (Perhaps one of you do?) Let me offer one of my sandbox pages, User:KConWiki/sandbox/Wikiproject C-SPAN?, as a gathering area for comments until such time as we gather enough steam to start our own WikiProject page.

Thanks for reading this far, and I hope that you will give some consideration as to whether this is something we ought to attempt. Please feel free to pass this message on to others you know whom might be interested, and please let me know your thoughts and comments.

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:CBS6Albany.png

Thank you for uploading File:CBS6Albany.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Misplaced Pages may not meet the criteria required by Misplaced Pages:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Misplaced Pages:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
