Gambit was one of the starring X-Men characters in the '']'' ] of the 1990s, in which he was voiced by ] until Potter left in 1996 and was replaced by ] until the series ended. For much of the series, he is insecure about whether the X-Men trust him, despite being loyal to the team throughout the series. In ''Slave Island'', when Gambit, Jubilee and Storm were captured by ], he pretends to abandon the captured mutants, but only to escape and return to rescue them. One particular episode (''Days of the Future's Past'') features the time traveler ] accuses Gambit of betraying the X-Men by assassinating Senator ]. The traitor is revealed to be the shapeshifting ] disguised as Gambit. One episode explored Gambit's past as a member of the Guild of Thieves, and his romantic relationship with Bella Donna. Throughout most of the series, Gambit maintains a flirtatious relationship with Rogue, eventually telling her that he loves her in the episode ''"Reunion, Part 2''" though nothing more seemed to come from this.

* Gambit appears in '']'', portrayed by Channing Tatum. Like the incarnation shown in ''X-Men Origins: Wolverine'', this version lacks black sclera and red irises in his eyes. Additionally, he speaks in an "indecipherable" Cajun accent. Tatum was appreciative of star and co-writer ]' efforts and support towards incorporating Gambit into the film, with the former believing he never would have had the chance to portray Gambit following the solo film's cancellation. Shawn Levy, one of the directors Tatum approached to direct ''Gambit'' and director of ''Deadpool & Wolverine'', knew it would be "gratifying" for Tatum to be in the film as the character. Following the film's release, Tatum expressed his hope that his appearance's reception may renew interest in a ''Gambit'' film, having informed Marvel about his wishes to still make the project while acknowledging it all depends on what Disney ] ] and Marvel Studios president ] decide. Commenting on the possibilities of a ''Gambit'' film materializing in an ] story, Reynolds expressed his interest in working with Tatum for the project, either by reprising his role as ] or assisting production. In the '']'' animated TV series, Gambit appeared in a few episodes as a henchman of ], and was voiced by ]. This version of Gambit is noteworthy for taking liberties with the character, including his origins. Originally, his flirtatious moments with Rogue were meant to be a reference to their romantic relationship in the comics. Towards the end of the show's run, an episode featured Gambit kidnapping Rogue in an attempt to manipulate her into helping him rescue his adoptive father, Jean-Luc, after he was kidnapped by the Rippers (the Assassins Guild). Gambit, however, soon becomes protective of Rogue once he notices Jean-Luc's amazement of her mutant abilities. After Wolverine defeats him, Gambit sees he is sincere and flies him to Stryker's base. At the conclusion, Gambit briefly returns to his side, and, after Wolverine's memories are lost, tells him his 'name': Logan. He offers to help get Logan and ]'s body off the island, but Logan turns him down, stating he can find his own way. In ''Origins'', his trademark brown trench coat has been rendered to a dark brown leather duster, the character does not wear gloves or boots, and his signature red on black eyes have been reduced to normal colored eyes that merely glow red when he uses his power (mainly because the producers felt his eyes would be too distracting). Gambit's powers are also altered slightly, in that the objects he charges do not seem to explode, instead merely hitting with much more force—his playing cards hit with enough force to knock people through brick walls, he can strike the ground to create an impact wave to send his foes flying, and he can charge his staff to cleanly punch holes in walls to climb them without damaging the staff. This version of Gambit seems to be lightly inspired by the ] version of the character, who is a retired thief and sports a "cleaned up" accent that is a Southern/Cajun mix.<ref>{{cite news|url=http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=22026|title=Gambit Cast In Wolverine Movie|publisher=empireonline.com|date=2008-02-19|accessdate=2008-02-19}}</ref>

Film
Main article: X-Men (film series)- James Bamford was set to make a cameo appearance as Gambit in X2, but the scene was cut. Despite this, Gambit's name appears on William Stryker's computer.
- Gambit appears in an early draft of X-Men: The Last Stand as a new student of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and Iceman's rival for Rogue's affections. For this initial draft of the film, Channing Tatum auditioned for the role and Keanu Reeves was also considered. This version of the character appears in the film’s novelization. The character’s implementation in the story changed once Brett Ratner replaced Bryan Singer as director, with the audio commentary accompanying the film’s home release stating Gambit was going to appear as a prisoner recruited into Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants, only to be cut prior to shooting. Josh Holloway was offered the role, but was forced to decline due to scheduling conflicts with Lost. Gregory Helms expressed intentions to read for the part.
- Remy LeBeau / Gambit appears in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, portrayed by Taylor Kitsch. This version was held captive by William Stryker for two years, during which he received the nickname "Gambit" from the guards he consistently beat at poker and possesses the ability to charge objects with more force instead of explosive energy. Additionally, his irises glow red only when he uses his powers - and lacks his comic book counterpart's black sclera, as the producers felt it was too distracting, and was inspired by the Ultimate Marvel incarnation, who was reinterpreted as a retired thief with a Southern/Cajun accent. Following screen tests with Hugh Jackman, Josh Holloway, who had previously been offered the role for a cut appearance in X-Men: The Last Stand, was the initial choice for the role before his casting was overruled due to an unnamed studio executive’s desire for a younger actor in the part. Prior to both Kitsch’s casting and the development of a Gambit solo film, Channing Tatum was also considered, having previously auditioned for Last Stand, but was unavailable due to his commitment to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.
- Channing Tatum was intended to portray Remy LeBeau / Gambit in a titular solo film, with development progressing over several years. In 2014, Lauren Shuler Donner stated at the world premiere of X-Men: Days of Future Past that Tatum would portray Gambit in X-Men: Apocalypse, followed by the solo film. In October 2014, Tatum revealed that the Gambit film is in development and that they were looking for a writer. In October 2014, Fox officially announced the film as Gambit, with a script from Joshua Zetumer, based on a story treatment by longtime X-Men scribe Chris Claremont. Additionally, Simon Kinberg, Donner, Tatum and Reid Carolin would co-produce the film. The film was initially scheduled to be released in October 2016, with Tatum stating that it will be an origin story. By June 2015, Rupert Wyatt signed onto the project as director. By August 2016, Tatum stated that Gambit would not be in X-Men: Apocalypse. By August 2015, Léa Seydoux had been cast to portray LeBeau's love interest and fellow mutant, Bella Donna Boudreaux. The following month, Wyatt dropped out of production due to scheduling conflicts. Kinberg stated a further month later that he hoped to start filming the following spring. The film was re-slated for an October 2016 release date, but had several delays as the studio wanted to get the script right and set a unique tone and the right voice. By July of the same year, Kinberg announced that the film's script was completed, with Doug Liman attached as director, after overseeing script re-writes, with filming slated to begin the following spring. However, by August, Liman also left production due to scheduling conflicts. Amidst further production delays and while on a press tour promoting the television series Legion, Donner confirmed that Tatum is still signed on to star in the film and is highly involved with the development process. By August 2017, the script was undergoing further rewrites, citing the successes of both Deadpool and Logan. By October, it was announced that Gore Verbinski was hired as the film's new director. Later, the working title of Gambit was revealed to be Chess. On January 11, 2018, Verbinski departed, leaving the film without a director once more. In May 2018, Kinberg stated that the final script had been completed and production will begin in the third quarter of 2018. On September 27, 2018, Kinberg revealed to IGN that the film will be a romantic comedy. The film was scheduled to be released on March 13, 2020. On March 14, 2019, due to Disney's then-pending acquisition of Fox, Wyatt stated, "now Disney have the reins so I don't know what their plans are." The film was officially shelved in May 2019.
- Gambit appears in Deadpool & Wolverine, portrayed by Channing Tatum. Like the incarnation shown in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, this version lacks black sclera and red irises in his eyes. Additionally, he speaks in an "indecipherable" Cajun accent. Tatum was appreciative of star and co-writer Ryan Reynolds' efforts and support towards incorporating Gambit into the film, with the former believing he never would have had the chance to portray Gambit following the solo film's cancellation. Shawn Levy, one of the directors Tatum approached to direct Gambit and director of Deadpool & Wolverine, knew it would be "gratifying" for Tatum to be in the film as the character. Following the film's release, Tatum expressed his hope that his appearance's reception may renew interest in a Gambit film, having informed Marvel about his wishes to still make the project while acknowledging it all depends on what Disney CEO Bob Iger and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige decide. Commenting on the possibilities of a Gambit film materializing in an Instagram story, Reynolds expressed his interest in working with Tatum for the project, either by reprising his role as Wade Wilson / Deadpool or assisting production. Reynolds also released a deleted scene online featuring Tatum's Gambit having survived the events of the film and teasing the character's potential return.

Gambit has made numerous appearances across a wide variety of video games. His first appearance came in Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade's Revenge, followed by a series of playable roles in the 1993 game X-Men and its sequel, X-Men 2: Clone Wars. He was also a prominent character in X-Men: Gamesmaster's Legacy , X-Men: Mojo World, and X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse. Gambit continued to feature in several fighting games, such as X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, where Tony Daniels lent his voice to the character. Daniels' portrayal of Gambit persisted through several more titles, including Marvel vs. Capcom 2, X-Men: Mutant Academy series, and X-Men: Next Dimension.
In the X-Men Legends series, Scott MacDonald took over voicing Gambit, voicing the character in X-Men Legends and its sequel, X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse. Gambit also made cameo appearances, including a non-speaking role in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, though he returned as a fully playable character in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, voiced by Michael Dunn, with his Horsemen of Apocalypse form available as an alternate skin.
Throughout the years, Gambit has been a regular fixture in Marvel games, appearing as a boss in X-Men Origins: Wolverine with a stronger Cajun accent and fighting alongside or against iconic characters in games like Marvel Super Hero Squad Online, X-Men: Destiny, Marvel Heroes, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. His likeness also pops up in various other titles, such as Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Deadpool, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, and mobile games like Marvel Puzzle Quest, Marvel Future Fight, and Marvel Contest of Champions. Gambit’s popularity have even earned him alternate skins in games like Fortnite, and he remains a key character in card and strategy games like Marvel Snap and Marvel Super War.
