== Hi ==

Hello,
Thank you for your nice diagram in the Misplaced Pages article kingdom (biology).

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Misplaced Pages, and what affects administrator retention. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this ''''''.

::OK, thanks. Went and saw Jill on Thursday before doing the walk and she gave me the low-down. The 'track' was a bit rough and we lost it at one stage, but eventually got back on it. It doesn't go down to the river/creek anymore, though it was within earshot; apparently a biologist had warned the walkers could impact on the frogs down there, so they took that bit out. It was an interesting walk overall, but we had to rush a bit as it was getting late and didn't want to try to find our way out in the dark (so that meant limited time for photos). Jill said she didn't think we'd get to Goolengook, suspected the bridge was out, but hadn't actually tried herself for a long time; we wouldn't have had time anyway. --] (]) 15:43, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

==MSU Interview==

Dear Pengo,

My name is Jonathan Obar ], I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Misplaced Pages administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community ], where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:
* Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
* Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
* All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
* All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
* The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name ] instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Thank you for sharing with the public. My website is:

I add pictures such as yours to one of the following major sections of my site:
1. World section - contains information and over 10,000 images of every world country and territory. Link at:

2. USA section - contains information and images of every USA state and territory. Link at:

3. English section - "Mel and Wes" lessons in conversation format. Stories are located in various USA states and world countries such as China, England, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Thailand. Each lesson has many slang terms and idioms, which I link to my Slang Dictionary. This eventually will have over 5,000 terms. Currently, it has about 3,000 slang and idioms. I regularly add new lessons and slang terms. Link at:

: Hi ]. Good question. It wasn't something I made up, but I don't remember where it was from. I suspect I got the name from somewhere in Peter Jackson's 2005 King Kong film, but I really don't remember and can't give a more precise answer than that, sorry. —] 04:46, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

I recently invited you to take a survey about administration on Misplaced Pages. If you haven’t yet had a chance, there is still time to participate– we’d truly appreciate your feedback. : ], you have no authority to request this. Not all edits require discussion on the talk page. If you have specific problems then state them, edit my edits to improve them, or start something on the talk page.
:I was not trying to minimize the accusations of sexism, harassment and misogyny, nor trying to push some gamergate agenda. The opening paragraph was simply terribly vague and unhelpful to readers. I believed I'd put the accusations still clearly in the opening paragraph, but it is difficult to state both sides at the same time. It's conventional to put what the proponents believe before stating the counter.
:For the record, whatever just happened to the opening paragraph ("In video game culture, Gamergate is an online movement which emerged around false allegations of unethical conduct levied against indie game developer Zoe Quinn in August 2014...") now reads much better than what was there before I edited, albeit showing extreme bias. —] 05:05, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Ora (currency)

Notice

The article Ora (currency) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Superfluous article about a fake currency that is not recognized by any government. Relevant information is already mentioned in Orania, Northern Cape.

While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Misplaced Pages, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
