| I hope no one minds. I would like to tell the story of my little girl Purr Lexus. I had spent the 1995 football season with the SF 49ers. The project was over and I moved back to So Cal. My salt water fish tank had broken and I was forced to give/trade for credit my sea life at Sand Bar pets. A year later, a young lady I was with convinced me that my home, over the San Clemente pier, "needed a kitty". I tried to resist and ended up at that same pet store a few hours later. I saw a lot of domestic cats and, in a special cage right up front were 2 little fuzz balls. I opened the door and said to myself, lets see if either of these two have any love. In seconds she had climbed into my hand curled up and just started purring like no cat I have ever seen. I was smitten and asked about the price and my pending credit. | |||

I paid the balance and she went home in my lap, just the way she left us today purring all the way. We spent most of the weekend just cuddling and with her on my chest. She had a extremely advanced cancer and there was no hope for any type of recovery. Her entire life she had know nothing other then love and pampering, I treated her like the princess she was and always will be to me. She out lived many of my friends and family and I know that her pain is over, and she departed this world, in my hands just the way she came to me. Nothing but love to her final moments. I'm fairly new to participation on Featured pictures and am still learning. I don't know a whole lot about photography; to me, nearly all the photos are wonderful, but I read the criticisms of other more knowledgeable editors and try to learn from them. I knew, because the photo of Balboa Pier was taken from the sky, that it was not an easy photo to take, but I thought it was the type of photo that ''could'' be re-taken if need be. But, overall, with regard to the photos that are nominated, I wonder sometimes if editors are not too critical, but since I'm new to FP and don't know as much about photographs as some of the other editors, I defer to them. I know I've gotten my evaluation of the quality of images wrong on several occasions, and very possibly also on this one. I hope you don't take this personally. Your user page shows that you are so knowledgeable in many things and that you have an interesting life, and your comments on FP show that you are a very nice, thoughtful person. With regard to the Balboa Pier photo, I think there is a chance that you could turn it around and garner more support votes if you argue against the criticism and for the image, but, even if you do and are not successful, or don't feel like doing that, I urge you to continue submitting photos (many, or all, of which I believe are your own photos). I believe a number of your photos have been promoted (don't know how many) and others will be promoted in the future.
