Since you seem to be so good at everything involving Misplaced Pages, could you try and fix my userpage? some of the Dropdown sections don't seem to work properly. No need for a response unless you can't fix it. My comments here will be short and to the point: I'm no longer taking part here. I have received an astounding amount of support, especially by email, but it's time to go. I tried to walk away in August, and managed to do so for quite a while, but I eventually came back, because of the many requests I received urging me to return. Many of you have written to ask me to not leave, to not give up what I have here, but I'm afraid it's time to make a clean break.
⚫ | |||
I ask that the first steward to see this message please remove my various flags from this wiki, as well as from Meta, Commons, and Wikiquote, and remove the bot flags from my bots, which of course will no longer be running. My tools will be taken down shortly. I had planned to delete my user-space myself, but I don't want anyone to think I was going on a rampage, so instead, I ask that one or more administrators who are friends please delete the 288 pages that form my userspace (leaving only my userpage and this talk page).

I've enjoyed my time here, and done much good work; my time, however, is over, and leaving is the best thing for me and for Misplaced Pages. I walk away happy to be free to go about other things. I hope others will refocus the energy they have spent the past few days in defending and denouncing me to make something here at Misplaced Pages better.

::(I must be too predictable.) See ] for more info. Anyhoo, its mostly janitorial. At the listing stage, check that the subpage is transcluded properly, that the {{tl|checkip}} and {{tl|checkuser}} templates are used, and fix any other formatting problems. Some cases get created under the wrong name and need to be moved (from ] to ], for example.
::At your discretion, you may want to add a comment or ask a question to help the requester format their request better, or provide a bit of missing background info. (for example see the July 5 request at ] where Squeakbox failed to mention the name of the article he was in dispute at, and I kindly added it for him.) Voice of All does more detailed commenting than I do, and the other clerks do very little. Basically, if I think I can make Essjay and Mackensen's job easier with a quick comment, I'll make it. This is entirely optional and you do want to avoid giving the impression that you are acting to screen or pre-approve requests. There is more discussion about this in the talk archives of the clerk pages. We also try to keep the arguing to a minimun. I usually let the alleged sock make one statement in his/her own defense, but if it gets more conversational than that, I move the conversation to the talk page.
::After a request is answered, the name gets moved to the proper section (declined or completed). Since you're an admin, you may choose to issue warnings or blocks, which is especially helpful if the requester is not an admin, although this too is optional. Eventually the case gets archived. This is usually after 4 days, but may be sooner if it is clear that the requester has seen the answer, or if there gets to be a lot of trolling on the page. The request gets enclosed with closing templates, removed from the CU page list, and added to the alphabetical list at ]. This is also described at ] and there is discussion at ] and ] where we worked out some of the bugs.
::I think that's about it. Let me know if you have any other questions. (with most things on wikipedia, you learn best by doing) ] 02:43, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
In a case like ] where one of the users ] has been requested to be checkusered , , where ] is also mentioned and , would I make a clerk note pointing this out? Or since they were all declined, it would serve no purpose besides for letting the checkuser know that this user has been suspected in the past. --] | ] 03:40, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
:<s>I think that's worth pointing out. </s> Too late. (Looked like a decline a mile away anyhow.) ] 03:55, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
I forgot to mention that the new subpage template includes a tag reminding users to list the page for transclusion; this tag also contains ]. The tag can be removed once the page is listed if the user doesn't do it themselves. ::::You didn't offend me, you irritated me, because you're about the 10th person to come along and tell me how my site skin should look. I don't mind suggestions (Hey, I use and I think you might like it) or bug reports (Hey, isn't working), and I'm thrilled that other people find it useful and want to copy it, but I don't like it when people presume to tell me what's best *in my own skin*. My skin, particularly my CSS, has been carefully put together to help me stay out of the fights over template layout, page colors, and all the rest of the stuff that people get into it over. I just change the way it displays *for me* and leave the bickering to others. Since the purpose of the page is to customize my view of the site, I view complaints about it's content as complaints about my preferences; I've spent a lot of time getting it just how I like it, and I expect others to do the same. Use my skin as a starting place, but if you don't like something, don't complain to me or ask me to change the way I view the site, change it in your own skin. That's what *your* monobook.css/.js files are for. <span style="font-family: Verdana">] ]</span> 14:16, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

:::::My point about offending you was that above I had hoped that I had expressed my opinion but not asked anything of you and I apologise if it seemed that way as it was not my intention.
