You seem to be taking all reference of British Raj out, they had their reference in oral traditions as books were not common in that era gone by (especially for very local history of smaller provinces) , with that in mind how is it possible to provide reference if its not via books or historians of an era gone by ?? also please let us know on what basis you throw out some references while allow some books as references, please provide a path for us to follow to refer something.
