],
Even though i am only a Level 4 Novice Editor, i am a very active and enthusiastic Wikipedian, i have over 1,770 edits and have written 21 Articles. All naval. I am a member of Wikiproject Ships, Military History Wikiproject, and the Misplaced Pages World War II Task Force. Feel free to check out my articles. I do mostly military and naval articles. Misplaced Pages is, no doubt, very big, but some ships still need their story known! Every ship has a unique story! And that's what i dedicate myself to. I covered alot in the Misplaced Pages Adventure, the Adoption School for User:Howicus didn't work out for me, some of the stuff it asked me to do was very hard with the constantly growing number of Recent Changes patrollers.
Look at it and you will have a feel of what didn't really work well for me.

There is no page "MOS:SHIPS" when i searched for it. Furthermore, i have done nothing wrong to my knowledge when it comes to editing ships. : Firstly, creator of anything means nothing on this wiki; you do not own those articles. Secondly, MOS:SHIPS stands for ], also known as the Manual of Style (MOS) for Ships. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of ], and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships

Hi again Luis. A brief note about the notices above this message. If you're taking from the Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships, that's totally fine as it's public domain. However, you might want to mark those pages by putting Template:DANFS near the bottom of the page. Howicus (Did I mess up?) 01:14, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

User:Howicus, the only information i use is from the External Links i use, i don't even know where to find the DANFS

Regards, --Luis Santos24 (talk) 01:16, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Well, congrats, you found it. :) The main page for this page is DANFS Online. Also, this page has "From: Dictionary of American Fighting Ships" at the bottom, plus a link to the hazegray site. Howicus (Did I mess up?) 01:23, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

User:Howicus, I'm not lying, i truly got that remarkably identical info from another external link i listed on the "Humpin Hass" (Hassayampa) Honest, it wasn't my intent to stir up any copyright issues. --Luis Santos24 (talk) 01:27, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Well, it's a public domain source as a work of the US Federal Government, so there aren't any issues. Howicus (Did I mess up?) 01:32, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Shoichi dbz created character probably isn't necessary

I think we edit conflicted; you were creating the AfD while I was tagging the page for speedy deletion. Unless the creator can demonstrate that Shoichi dbz created character isn't just something he made up, I'll be speedy deleting it within the next 15 minutes. Thus, the AfD really isn't necessary. —C.Fred (talk) 03:07, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

Hey, User:C.Fred. I was considering putting a tag for speedy deletion but i already layed down the tag hammer and nominated for deletion, i think in my humble opinion 15 minutes is not enough, especially at this late hour. I ask for more time although i agree with you, i simply want to be fair, i say 24 hours, a day is enough, not a mere 15 minutes. I already took numerous measures in the first place, so we should just wait a day for the author he or she to fix his situation, after 24 hours have it your way no questions asked. Have a good day.

Cheers, --Luis Santos24 (talk) 03:15, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

We noticed though that when you edited USS Natchaug (AOG-54), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Port Arthur, Sasebo and Adak. Hi @Luis Santos24: - I got your message regarding being adopted. I'm more than happy to do that :) What kind of thing do you see yourself doing on Misplaced Pages? Samuel Tarling (talk) 18:52, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

User:Samtar, Even though i am only a Level 4 Novice Editor, i am a very active and enthusiastic Wikipedian, i have over 1,770 edits and have written 21 Articles.

--Luis Santos24 (Have a good day!) 19:28, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Alternate account

Since you are using alternate account (Luis Santos24-Backup), you should tag both your user pages with the {{User alternative account}}) tag (see: WP:Alternate account). Otherwise, your both accounts might be blocked. Vanjagenije (talk) 14:34, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

Why?

There is no page "MOS:SHIPS" when i searched for it. Furthermore, i have done nothing wrong to my knowledge when it comes to editing ships. Instead of just telling me what to do, please give me reasoning as to why i, a creator of some 28 (about to be 29)ship articles, apparently must be re-educated on the art of editing them. Thanks.

Cheers, --The Haze Master (talk) 21:25, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

Firstly, creator of anything means nothing on this wiki; you do not own those articles. Secondly, MOS:SHIPS stands for Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Ships/Guidelines, also known as the Manual of Style (MOS) for Ships. This is an encyclopedia, there is a way articles should be formatted so they all look the same, and yours tend to diverge from the FAC (Featured Article Content) which is what hopefully someday, all ship articles will look like. March Madness 2017

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

User group for Military Historians

Greetings,

"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Misplaced Pages. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Misplaced Pages Military Historians.

FYI

Hi, I see you created https://en.wikipedia.org/File:USS_Benawah_Awards.jpg I just wanted to let you know it's a typo. It's spelled Benewah. (Just thought I'd let you know. You can deal with it however you like). Thanks for the image though, it's appreciated. Cheers - WOLFchild 17:17, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
  • updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

Request reason:

I am a long time editor of Misplaced Pages. I am currently active duty Army and using barracks wifi with no alternative. I am using my personal Laptop to create naval articles.

Accept reason:

I've gone ahead and issued IP Block Exemption to your account. I apologize for the long wait. SQL 07:03, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

IP Block Exemption might be helpful here. Please stand by. SQL 20:11, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
Luis, are you in the real US Army? If that sounds like an odd question, it is because your...ummm, former rank of Commodore and the "proclamation" appear to be part of some role-playing games. For the last 20 months, you appear to have been focused on your award curations in sandboxes and sim group badge uploads are questionable. Would you please explain? Additionally, you want "to create naval articles". Please tell us what you want to create.
 — Berean Hunter (talk) 12:44, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
This has no real military association in any way and is an apparent conflict of interest and not headed toward a real article. It is a good candidate for deletion as misuse of Misplaced Pages as a web host.
 — Berean Hunter (talk) 13:04, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

That is my affiliation with a roleplaying group I ran before my enlistment. I am active duty army stationed at Fort Lee, Virginia and would appreciate it if you watched how you are talking to me. I attended basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia with C Company, 2nd Battalion, 54th Infantry Regiment. I can be emailed at <redacted> or called at <redacted> if you need any credentials or documents/pictures to back this up. I do not appreciate your attitude, and if you look at my profile, I have created 41 naval articles on Misplaced Pages. I am simply trying to continue my former hobby.

I have been inactive on Misplaced Pages mostly to having been away in the Army. I will not post any identifying information on an open Misplaced Pages thread and encourage you to contact me via email or via telephone.

Yes, Berean Hunter(talk). I am in the "Real" U.S. Army.

I created the Naval Corps in January 2012, and was in charge of it while being a Naval JROTC Cadet, a member of the Young Marines, a Civil Air Patrol Cadet/Senior Member (ID Number 616045), and a Soldier in the Virginia Defense Force (ID Number 1900802) prior to my enlistment in the U.S. Army Infantry. If you investigated enough, you could discover that too. Please think twice before questioning a legitimate member of the DoD. It puts a stain on the professionalism that is expected of us as Editors. I am autoconfirmed and have created over 40 articles. I am a member of the U.S. Naval Institute and a Plankowner of the National Museum of the Surface Navy. I currently study Military History at American Military University. I do not mean to be rude, but any real soldier/sailor/airman/coast guardsman/marine would be offended at being questioned for their "authenticity".

No, not really. Real servicemen are used to being asked to authenticate in many ways. When you buy something at the PX, you still show your ID card even if you are in uniform, don't you? You identify when challenged by those on watch or any DI, other NCO or officer that happens to outrank you and many other times as well. I don't need to have your personally identifying information but my questions are fair given the circumstances. What articles do you intend to write?

Voting for coordinators is now open!

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election have opened. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting will commence on 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:41, 1 September 2024 (UTC)

Sandbox

Userspace pages are not allowed to be filed in mainspace categories alongside real articles, per WP:USERNOCAT, and the page isn't sacrosanct just because it's yours. Especially if, as you claim, you're not really around that much, we do not have a responsibility to leave it in categories waiting for you to remove it from categories of your own accord — if the page is in categories, then it has to come out of categories now, not "maybe someday", which means it can be immediately removed from categories by any editor who finds it without anybody needing to wait for your permission. Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
