== Michael Wolf (Businessman) Page removal== | |||
Hello, E.M.Gregory, and welcome to Misplaced Pages! Thank you for ]. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful: | |||
Hi I created the Michael Wolf page many years ago along with many other articles on other CEO's, celebrities, and historical figures that I was familiar with. I used information that was available on the Internet to provide information on these figures and personal knowledge to create articles. I had not updated the Michael Wolf page for a while, and it was created to provide information on a known CEO that is researched by others on a regular basis. He regularly gives speeches to the media on media trends, attends Davos, and is the CEO of Activate.com. Misplaced Pages is a palace where people go to research current and past know figures, which is why I believe his page should remain active. I am willing to update it with current information and I am requesting that Michael Wolf's page be restored. It has been on Misplaced Pages for many, many years and is a part of Misplaced Pages's original article feeds / historical articles that help build Misplaced Pages. | |||

Hi, Thanks for weighing in on the Backwaters Press article. Hello ], I am reaching out to you and several other experienced editors with a history of editing immigration topics. I would like to ask for your help with a new article that I and others have been working on: ]. I am in a fully disclosed COI position on the article and do not wish to get unduly involved in editing it further or, of course, in the decision about whether it should be moved from draft status to a live article. | |||
There is. An AFD is allowed to run for 7 days (although it can be closed sooner if an article is rapidly tidied up and really persuasive secondary sources are added to the page) Ordinarily, After ~ 7 days, an editor will swing by and, if participating editors have come to a consensus, keep or delete it. If they have not reached consensus, or if too few editors have by and expressed opinions, the comment period will be extended, but sooner or later, an editor will make a decision to close the AFD discussion as: delete, keep, or "no consensus". If "no consensus" the article will be kept for the nonce in the hope that with time notability or lack thereof will become clear. | |||
The draft has an unusual history. As far as I can tell, the editor who declined it in December 2018 (]) was relatively new to editing and was subsequently blocked indefinitely for a variety of reasons. ] declined the article in April 2018, and has stated in several places that he does not get involved in new article decisions once he has weighed in. The third editor to work on it, ], improved it and was in favor of advancing the article before it was declined by the now-banned editor. But Libracarol has done no editing since February 2019 and has not responded to notes left on his/her talk page. Meanwhile, the article (still in draft form) has nearly 30 solid references, which suggests that the topic is notable. | |||
Would you be willing to take a look at it and offer an opinion? Others who declined it did not have extensive immigration article editing histories, and that seems to be an important factor here. Many thanks in advance for considering my request! ] (]) 17:57, 10 May 2019 (UTC) | |||

Think of it as like a legal proceeding, with judges doing their best. Topics (in this case, a writer) are judged not according to whether the commenting editor thinks that the writer is wonderful or dreadful, but according to whether reliable secondary sources discussing the writer exist. See WP:AUTHOR but also WP:GNG which might cover an author whose work is not highly regarded, but who has been profiled, repeatedly, in the press for some other reason. What the page needs to stay up is not articles by Mandel, but articles about him or about something he has written. He need not be the sole topic of such an article, there might, for example, be a short discussion of his work or life in an an article about writers who live in Providence. Interviews with him published in reputable publications. And book reviews in reputable publications. | |||
Just wanted to say "thanks" for the edits you've been doing on that page. Nice work.] (]) 14:09, 15 May 2019 (UTC) | |||
The article is tagged for cleanup. Think of it as a writing exercise. You are being asked to write an article about Peter Mandel, his life and career. But zero creativity on your part. Every fact, from where he lives to what sort of writing he does must be drawn from the source(s) that appear at the end of every sentence. | |||

<blockquote>Nice beginning for this new article. I would like to suggest that you include an organizational template as part of the article: ] to provide more information about your organization. God Bless! - a Christian artist</blockquote> | |||
Sorry, I’ve not been keeping up on wiki and did not realise a discussion was in place. To answer the following; Trevor Maynard edits The Poetic Bond which has published eight anthologies containing the work of 230 poets, as well as having three collections of his own. The books are published by Willowdown Books which uses the Print on Demand services of Createspace and Lulu. This is not self publishing, it is Print on Demand which is being used by traditional and self-publishing authors. The reviews of plays are accurately sourced and linked to several other notable pages. Up until four years ago, this Trevor Maynard came first google search ahead of the Lloyds one. Google search now sees this Trevor Maynard returned as the second Trevor Maynard in the list. Therefore I belief this deletion is somewhat harsh and does not truly reflect the community spirit and dissemination of useful information that Misplaced Pages represents. Hi! Thanks for your continuing efforts across WP. I noticed your good-faith addition to the article on the Copenhagen Denmark Temple. I started to clean it up a bit, but then wondered what the intent of the addition is and whether it actually should be retained in the article? Is this primarily to try and help establish notoriety, to address the sourcing and other concerns? I think there would be some question (such as {{who}}, {{when}} or {{how}}) the asserted notability was obtained. I don't know the author or her book, so obviously not the referenced story. Is the temple notable because of something in the story, or did the young missionary just happen to work in this temple? I also wonder about how a book detailing someone's story about leaving the Mormon Church helps establish the notability of a specific temple. Thanks for any clarifying thoughts you might have. ] (]) 20:42, 28 April 2015 (UTC) | |||

== Notability of diplomats == | |||
Hi E.M.Gregory. | |||
I actually watched this happen—the deletion of an ambassador's page—to ] the other day. According to ], the office itself doesn't automatically confer notability upon the office holder. I'm not what you would call a 'deletionist' but I didn't put up a fight, as I couldn't find any media about Biggs that would make him seem notable aside from as an office holder (I was expecting some news articles about some of the things he had done on post, but couldn't find any). | |||
The re-direct suggestion on ] is an odd one, however, because many diplomats in Australia have held several posts - so where would you redirect to? For example, for ] - would you link to Ireland, Holy See or Portugal? - you cannot redirect to all three. | |||
Oh, and for Plunkett, the additions you have made I would suggest are helpful establishing notability - for example that she accepted a Papal Rebuke on behalf of the Australian people for its treatment of Aboriginal people. ] (]) 10:17, 6 May 2015 (UTC) | |||

In the meantime, I will continue adding content with sources, not the reverse (adding sources to content already there and already sourced). Thank you. -] (]) 21:18, 19 May 2015 (UTC) | |||

Hello {{BASEPAGENAME}}, | |||
== D Seaman == | |||
I'll keep it short: what do you consider "disputed"? Please clarify, otherwise please do consider removing the tag.<br> | |||
- If it is Seaman's biographical data: it is not supported by any citation, but shouldn't be too controversial (Jewish, US, Israel, jobs & awards). He commented his own edits several times in the first person singular ("I know best where I live").<br> | |||
- If you mean his verbal attacks and his controversial acts as a leading govt. employee, those are all very well backed up by citations.<br> | |||
So please, before making readers mistrust a page which contains only undisputed, or disputed but well backed facts, do more than drop a tag and leave it to its own devices. I will be happy to give you more info. Should you chose though to stay out of this, I will consider that it's OK to remove that tag. Thank you. Cheers, ] (]) 16:08, 11 June 2015 (UTC)Arminden | |||
;WMF at work on NPP Improvements | |||
More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at ]. There is now also a live queue of ] submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important. | |||
;QUALITY of REVIEWING | |||
Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please ] for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. | |||
The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at ]. | |||
;Backlog | |||
The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever. | |||
;Move to draft | |||
NPR is ], it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which ''might'' have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations. | |||
;Notifying users | |||
Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are ] and have no intention of returning to Misplaced Pages. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging. | |||
;PERM | |||
Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome ''if <u>absolutely</u> necessary'', but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway. | |||
;Other news | |||
School and academic holidays will begin soon in various places around the Western world. Be on the lookout for the usual increase in hoax, attack, and other junk pages. | |||
Our next newsletter might be announcing details of a possible election for co-ordinators of NPR. If you think you have what it takes to micro manage NPR, take a look at ] - it's a job that requires a lot of time and dedication. | |||
Hi. I'm on my way out from WP, but some very few articles I'm keeping an eye on. Daniel Seaman is a top "hasbara" right-winger who always allowed his political inclinations to take precedence over civility. Just read the quotes mentioned in the article, and these are just a selection. He treated every perceived "enemy" with the basest type of expletives, f-words included, dissenting journalists were refused Israeli press cards not in an open manner, but by intentional foot-dragging techniques, etc. He was supposed to head the new Israeli department created to coordinate a project having foreign students and such from Israel fluent in foreign languages work anonymously and for pay from the government, and promote right-wing positions through the online media such as Facebook, Twitter and different forums, when the Japanese gov. strongly protested his rude postings and he had to be ousted, rather unwillingly, by his pals in the Netanyahu government. He is a skillful media man, fully taken by his "mission", short-tempered, rude, who knows how to use rhetorical means to give any story the "right" (forgive the pun) twist. Now out of a government position, he is heading a new private online radio station. No problem with that, except that since 1947 the name "Voice of Israel", in Hebrew "Kol Israel", is already taken! It was and still is the name of the official radio broadcast. They (he?) are using the twist that "Kol Israel" is a registered mark, while its widely used English translation "Voice of Israel" apparently isn't explicitly so. That's Seaman at his best for you, even if the idea wasn't maybe his. Now listeners of this strongly right-wing station, staffed with Anglo editors able to sugarcoat their message, are easily and intentionally confused into believing that they are listening to a government-sponsored, vetted and neutral radio station.<br> | |||
---- | |||
Mr Seaman's WP page, until taken under scrutiny by a few people after the scandal hit the fan due to the Haaretz article, was a purely self-crafted CV, maybe even a copy-and-paste version of the CV he used when applying for a job. Every now & then, either Mr Seaman himself or somebody from his circles "drops by", always anonymously (without an editor's account) and tries to remove every last bit of info from the page that sounds like criticism. You are the first one in years who suggests rewriting the page, while using a proper WP name and account with contributions on more than just ONE single topic: Mr DS. There is a well-oiled and -financed, govt-sponsored machinery of online "hasbara" on one side, and a number of individual editors on the other. Please do keep that in mind, should you insist in redoing this article. Of course, by pasting together bits of Mr DS's sanitised own CV, next to his every bit as real professional and verbal excesses and the criticisms they induced, creates a weird juxtaposition. But that's WP to you, as long as both sides are presenting well-sourced facts, they must stay next to each other, with no explanatory "binding sauce", which would be reverted as "bias" and "point of view".<br>Please notice that almost all facts regarding the life and official career are NOT SOURCED, they haven't been touched by me or any other critical editor so that we cannot be accused of bias. DS's horrible verbal excesses, as well as all other critical bits on the other hand, are all well sourced and proven. Imagine the page with all its unsourced data missing: you'd be left with just the controversies! Cheers, ] (]) 08:35, 9 June 2015 (UTC)Arminden | |||

I just went to my corner store for a quick junk food run, and something suddenly hit me: you talk about seeing a source in which Roscoe more or less disavowed the more flamboyant aspects of his early marketing bio. ''That's'' a source I'll admit to having missed out on — but what suddenly hit me is that it just might buy us a way forward after all: if we can actually source that he disavowed it, then that buys us a way to talk about the gay prostitute thing as a ''promotional'' hook instead of asserting it as simple biographical fact the way we did before. Hello, E.M.Gregory. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, ], for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted: | |||
Per , I would suggest that it isn't remotely appropriate to tag an IP who reports an issue with blatant promotional editing in an article at WP:ANI as a 'SPA', just because they then agree with said article being nominated for deletion. :::Um, no. A 'single-purpose account' belongs to someone who edits largely on a single subject. Not to someone who is clearly familiar with Misplaced Pages policy, and hadn't edited the article (or any article on a similar subject) before, but has been editing Misplaced Pages for years (longer than you have, it appears), with a dynamic IP. Hardly anyone had significantly edited the article before I saw it, other then the string of genuine single-purpose registered accounts responsible from the promotional fluff I reported at WP:ANI. I am clearly no more of a 'SPA' than you are, and I consider your attempts to suggest otherwise to be entirely contrary to the stated purposes of Misplaced Pages. And clearly detrimental to its proper functioning, if this is the sort of response an unregistered user gets for reporting a clearly-problematic article at WP:ANI. I am a little discouraged about the outcome of the Carroway discussion. Cavarrone's claims about LDS Living being "just a content aggregator" is false. It is a magazine that creates its own content. Related to this is the bizarre heading to the article on ] that claims the article lacks references or sources. I made sure to wait until I had multiple ones before putting up the article. The best ones are connected with either the Becket Fund or the ''Deseret News'', with a few others doing OK being BYU publications. No one else has yet bothered to give her much coverage, but her roles in various cases involving the Becket Fund does get a lot of reference. I have held off removing the totally bizarre claim to no references or sources because I have found that doing so often generates more push-back against an article. *Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves once more with notability guidelines for ]. | |||
column 1: Days after the Supreme Court stayed O’Dell’s execution on Dec. 17, the New York Times reported “there can’t be many people left in Italy who never heard of O’Dell. *''Blank-and-Redirect'' is a solution anchored in policy. Please consider this alternative before PRODing or CSD. Note however, that users will often revert or usurp redirects to re-create deleted articles. Do regularly patrol the redirects in the feed. | |||
Column 2, O’Dell’s case was already known in Italy via the Internal... but but so too were the cases of more than 3,000 other Americans on death row across the country, and no one was demonstrating about any of them until Urs reached Farkas.” | |||
Column 3: After the story ran (front page story of the most widely circulated newspaper in Italy), Neri, a locally elected official representing the region of Umbria , called Farkas looking for Urs, and things took a political turn. | |||
Column 5- “ In January, Urs toured Italy to thank O’Dell supporter and drummed up more attention. Ferrarotti, the sociologist, appeared on a television show with Urs during the visit. He said Urs “captured the imagination of the Italian public at large. I was quite amazed myself. He said she was “very forceful, very attractive, obviously very dedicated and you know all of this put together somehow made an impact.” Leoluca Orlando, major of Palermo, made O’dell an honorary citizen. | |||
;Not English | |||
Urs was invited by the Italian Parliament, who sponsored her trip, to tour the country of Italy. I understand that you have continually undone by edits on Dr. Whitakers page, but my question is to ask why. I have done nothing but expand upon his other accomplishments in life, as well as created new sections about him. You continually have undone my changes, choosing to focus only on his controversies and none of his other successes in life. I have very respectfully wrote the sections, as well as addresses his controversies as well. I am trying to present all facts, not just focus on the bad. Thank you very much. | |||
I had to create the new sections, as well as correct false information that was presented incorrectly. By clicking undo, you are choosing to focus on only the 'controversies" instead of reading the other information presented. You can not present the wrong information and call it "fact" | |||

If you simply engaged in discussion on your edits, you would avoid a lot of trouble. However, your engagement consists of "I added links! I'm right!" Two of those sources you re-added by reverting my edit were already tagged by others as not supporting the statement. The third was behind a paywall and can't be verified. Another was from six months before the incident, so can't possibly be related. The last of the five also made no connection between the incident and the party. The problem is that you are making the connections, and then you refuse to discuss them when others disagree. That is ], and I'm sorry if you think I'm wikihounding you. The fact is that you are a poor and noncollegial editor, and your editing is damaging to the encyclopedia. | |||
You have clearly indicated that any source you don't agree with is automatically not usable, even if the same type of source is usable elsewhere when you do agree with it. You have also clearly indicated that you don't wish to discuss your edits. You have also clearly indicated that you don't want to show any part of a story that doesn't fit your view. The Whitaker article now looks nothing like the version you were fighting over, because you only used those parts of the sources that supported your position, even when your position was contrary to facts stated in the source. | |||
I get the sense, by the way, that your familiaerity with academia means you are an academic or retired academic. '''Misplaced Pages is not academia.''' It is not a research platform, nor is it a place to tell other people your personal conclusions based on what you think happened. That is basically the crux of what you are doing, by the way. You tried to create the Whitaker article based solely on scandals with no regard for ] or balance, despite three editors raising concerns on the talk page. You created an event article on a stabbing at Ikea to talk about political impact when there is none, and apparently based that on Breitbart, which we simply don't use as a source here, period. So then, you found everything that mentioned SDP, even if it was six months ago, and then said the rise of the SDP was related to this incident, and another, and another, which basically showed that there was no correlation with this latest item at all, as no source mentioned it. I'd also point out that you can't even be bothered to get a last name right. However, according to you, these are all other people's issues, and they should be fine with fixing your mess. I bring this up because that's also unacceptable in academia, isn't it? So why should you be comporting yourself differently here and to different standards than you would professionally in the real world? ] (]) 17:04, 31 August 2015 (UTC) | |||

For the Misplaced Pages encyclopedia article, see Reader.Michael Wolf (Businessman) Page removal
Please let me know if you can assist with restoring the page and I will update it. Thank you. user:endicium m@endicium.com

Thanks for participating in the ongoing discussion. I found a couple more profiles in The Oregonian (the largest newspaper in Oregon and the second largest in the Pacific Northwest by circulation) and The Portland Tribune, but I'm currently scrambling to save a few other articles nominated by the same editor. I won't be surprised if the article is deleted, so I may just have to work in the draft space after deletion since I don't have time to rescue and expand immediately. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:54, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
- Also, unrelated, if an AfD nominator changes their own vote to redirect, does that mean the AfD should be closed? Just curious. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:46, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not sure, User:Another Believer. I do know that if a Nom changes to "keep", he can only close the page if there are no "delete" votes. So I suspect that Nom could only close the page if thre are no outstanding keep or delete votes.E.M.Gregory (talk) 20:03, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
NPR Newsletter No.17
Hello E.M.Gregory,
- News
- The WMF has announced that Google Translate is now available for translating articles through the content translation tool. This may result in an increase in machine translated articles in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to use the {{rough translation}} tag and gently remind (or inform) editors that translations from other language Misplaced Pages pages still require attribution per WP:TFOLWP.
- Discussions of interest
- Two elements of CSD G6 have been split into their own criteria: R4 for redirects in the "File:" namespace with the same name as a file or redirect at Wikimedia Commons (Discussion), and G14 for disambiguation pages which disambiguate zero pages, or have "(disambiguation)" in the title but disambiguate a single page (Discussion).
- {{db-blankdraft}} was merged into G13 (Discussion)
- A discussion recently closed with no consensus on whether to create a subject-specific notability guideline for theatrical plays.
- There is an ongoing discussion on a proposal to create subject-specific notability guidelines for chemicals and organism taxa.
- Reminders
- NPR is not a binary keep / delete process. In many cases a redirect may be appropriate. The deletion policy and its associated guideline clearly emphasise that not all unsuitable articles must be deleted. Redirects are not contentious. See a classic example of the templates to use. More templates are listed at the R template index. Reviewers who are not aware, do please take this into consideration before PROD, CSD, and especially AfD because not even all admins are aware of such policies, and many NAC do not have a full knowledge of them.
- NPP Tools Report
- Superlinks – allows you to check an article's history, logs, talk page, NPP flowchart (on unpatrolled pages) and more without navigating away from the article itself.
- copyvio-check – automatically checks the copyvio percentage of new pages in the background and displays this info with a link to the report in the 'info' panel of the Page curation toolbar.
- The NPP flowchart now has clickable hyperlinks.

POV-pushing and slander accusations
Since you must know that these accusations are serious charges, I need not to explain. This is also construable as skirting on your previous topic ban where you were sanctioned for POV pushing on immigration topics, so you must be mindful. If you are confident in your accusation and evidence, you must report me on the Incidents noticeboard. Otherwise, please cease these accusations. Thank you. Tsumikiria⧸ 🌹🌉 21:04, 17 March 2019 (UTC)
- You should certainly stop accusing fellow editors of being "NAZIS".E.M.Gregory (talk) 21:11, 17 March 2019 (UTC)
- It was nowhere an accusation of being Nazis, and repeatedly construing my citations to essays as advisements as such is disruptive and uncivil. If you want to continue this thread, WP:ANI is definitely a better venue. I will not comment further here. Tsumikiria⧸ 🌹🌉 21:31, 17 March 2019 (UTC)
- Citing past diffs does not imply a challenge to consummated closures. Consider these edits by Tsumikiria:
- "can you provide diffs on EMG citing hate groups as sources? This is absolutely unacceptable. Under the advisements from WP:NONAZIS, this should warrant a block, at least" ,
- "A long term or indef TBAN from BLP and American Politics may be in order, as illegal immigration isn't the only part of AP where they attempted POV editing. At this point it might be appropriate to cite WP:NORACISTS as well"
Observe NORACISTS redirects to NONAZIS.
Cheers to all, XavierItzm (talk) 00:50, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

Access to source?
Hello, I'd like to ask you for a favor. You seem to have access to some subscriptions. I was wondering if you might be able to access The wall street journal 24 June 1971 "why not explode it in the geographic center of the United States in central Kansas?" This is a quotation from a WSJ article whose title is not referenced, but that is related to US Atomic Energy Commission hearings, to that year's underground test in Amchitka Alaska, to Patrick Moore the author the quote, or to the Don't Make A Wave Committee which Moore was representing. Barring error, certainly there is an article containing this quote on that issue; I'd be interested in any appearance of Moore there. If you don't have this sort of access, never mind, and thank you anyway for all do you here at Misplaced Pages. It's evidently a thankless job. XavierItzm (talk) 00:38, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

His suggestion, if the U.S. wants 'to indulge" itself in the test explode it in the geographic center of the United States in central Kansas." - note that only two phrases are direct quotes of Moore. Article about Boundless Immigration
Hello User:E.M.Gregory, I am reaching out to you and several other experienced editors with a history of editing immigration topics. I would like to ask for your help with a new article that I and others have been working on: Draft:Boundless Immigration. I am in a fully disclosed COI position on the article and do not wish to get unduly involved in editing it further or, of course, in the decision about whether it should be moved from draft status to a live article. The draft has an unusual history. As far as I can tell, the editor who declined it in December 2018 (User:JC7V7DC5768) was relatively new to editing and was subsequently blocked indefinitely for a variety of reasons. User:Robert McClenon declined the article in April 2018, and has stated in several places that he does not get involved in new article decisions once he has weighed in. The third editor to work on it, User:Libracarol, improved it and was in favor of advancing the article before it was declined by the now-banned editor. NPR Newsletter No.18
Hello E.M.Gregory,
- WMF at work on NPP Improvements
Niharika Kohli, a product manager for the growth team, announced that work is underway in implementing improvements to New Page Patrol as part of the 2019 Community Wishlist and suggests all who are interested watch the project page on meta. Two requested improvements have already been completed. These are:
- Allow filtering by no citations in page curation
- Not having CSD and PRODs automatically marked as reviewed, reflecting current consensus among reviewers and current Twinkle functionality.
- Reliable Sources for NPP
Rosguill has been compiling a list of reliable sources across countries and industries that can be used by new page patrollers to help judge whether an article topic is notable or not. At this point further discussion is needed about if and how this list should be used. Please consider joining the discussion about how this potentially valuable resource should be developed and used.
- Backlog drive coming soon
Look for information on the an upcoming backlog drive in our next newsletter. If you'd like to help plan this drive, join in the discussion on the New Page Patrol talk page.
- News
- Following a request for comment, the subject-specific notability guideline for pornographic actors and models (WP:PORNBIO) was removed; in its place, editors should consult WP:ENT and WP:GNG.

Deletion of Trevor Maynard - poet
I believe the article should be u deleted. PAS Peteralansoron (talk) 14:20, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
- see: Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Trevor Maynard.E.M.Gregory (talk) 14:32, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
- User:Peteralansoron. this is not a question of the literary caliber of Maynard's writing; and it is not about who publishes him (except insofar as publication by a major press is an indication that a writer may be notable). I doubt that an article on Emily Dickinson would have passed WP:AUTHOR during her lifetime. We need major prizes, multiple book reviews in WP:RS, or WP:SIGCOV coverage to start or to keep a page about a writer.E.M.Gregory (talk) 14:32, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Shohret Hoshur
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Shohret Hoshur requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. If I can find enough authors other than Bernstein (writing in The Nation) and Lasar (detailed, but involved enough that I'd like someone more neutral in addition) then I am considering writing about the elephant.

New Page Review newsletter July-August 2019
Hello E.M.Gregory,
- WMF at work on NPP Improvements
More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.
- QUALITY of REVIEWING
Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.

The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.
- Move to draft
NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.
- Notifying users
Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Misplaced Pages. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.
- PERM
Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.
- Other news
School and academic holidays will begin soon in various places around the Western world. Be on the lookout for the usual increase in hoax, attack, and other junk pages.
Our next newsletter might be announcing details of a possible election for co-ordinators of NPR. If you think you have what it takes to micro manage NPR, take a look at New Page Review Coordinators - it's a job that requires a lot of time and dedication.

Andy Ngo
I've been writing the article Andy Ngo for some time now. I noticed you've been writing it so I published it, feel free to edit. wumbolo ^^^ 17:50, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
Unprincipled editing
Would you mind explaining why you removed a description of "conservative" (sourced to multiple RS) from the lede of Andy Ngo while a day earlier inserting a description sourced to one RS (that flies in the face of several other RS) to the lede of Bari Weiss? To me, this seems utterly shameless and unprincipled, and is an example of the kind of editing behavior that makes editing in American politics dysfunctional. Second topic ban violation
You have violated your topic ban for the second time. You are "indefinitely topic banned from pages and content related to illegal immigration, immigration policy, and the relationship between crime and immigration", yet you just now edited the page for "an anti-illegal immigration activist group". You should self-revert. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 23:44, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- apologies for forgetting myself and adding a RS to the page; I have self-reverted. I was simply going down a list of pages at AfD, running a WP:BEFORE and beginning to add sources that I found. In-depth coverage of this group comes up in a proper search. My suggesiton was going to be MERGE to FAIR, on the grounds that while this outfit existed, and was covered in reliable media in depthe, this outfit didn't get much coverage and should therefore be merged or parent org. E.M.Gregory (talk) 23:50, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- Why are you commenting on the AfD for that group even after you were made aware about your topic ban? You should self-revert that, as well. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 23:53, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- I offered helpful information - not an iVote - on the assumption that we are here to build an encyclopedia. I AGF and accept your assertion that this sort of comment is forbidden and revert. E.M.Gregory (talk) 00:05, 8 July 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for your comments on the page about me. Not sure why some of the other reviews like those from PoliceOne and Force Science didn't come up when you searched but I appreciate it. I hope the page doesn't get deleted but if so I think you got there honestly. Please have a look at my comments and that of Peter Moskos from this morning when you consider the page. 'Tag SPA'
Per , I would suggest that it isn't remotely appropriate to tag an IP who reports an issue with blatant promotional editing in an article at WP:ANI as a 'SPA', just because they then agree with said article being nominated for deletion. Even more so when it is clearly done because said IP disagreed with your questionable grounds for opposing deletion. I suggest you self-revert, and leave it to the closer of the AFD discussion to decide who is entitled to comment. 86.143.229.185 (talk) 21:41, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- Um, your 1st edit and half of your edits to date were about Thomas Salme, the AfD about the Salme page, and at a noticeboard discussion of that AfD. This is what an SPA is, an editor who has edited primarily on a single topic.E.M.Gregory (talk) 21:44, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- Um, no. Again, I ask you to remove the inappropriate tagging of someone who disagrees with you in an AFD discussion. 86.143.229.185 (talk) 21:55, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- How, precisely, are other editors supposed to tell that you are someone who "has been editing Misplaced Pages for years (longer than you have, it appears), with a dynamic IP." as opposed to the SPA sort of IP?E.M.Gregory (talk) 22:13, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Festivals disestablished in 2013
A tag has been placed on Category:Festivals disestablished in 2013 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. New Page Review newsletter September-October 2019
Hello E.M.Gregory,
- Backlog
Instead of reaching a magic 300 as it once did last year, the backlog approaching 6,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.
- Coordinator
A proposal is taking place here to confirm a nominated user as Coordinator of NPR.
- This month's refresher course
Why I Hate Speedy Deleters, a 2008 essay by long since retired Ballonman, is still as valid today. Those of us who patrol large numbers of new pages can be forgiven for making the occasional mistake while others can learn from their 'beginner' errors. Worth reading.
- Deletion tags
Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon (you will need to have 'Nominated for deletion' enabled for this in your filters) may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders using Twinkle. They require your further verification.
- Paid editing
Please be sure to look for the tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. WMF policy requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.
- Subject-specific notability guidelines' (SNG). Alternatives to deletion
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves once more with notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
- Blank-and-Redirect is a solution anchored in policy. Please consider this alternative before PRODing or CSD. Note however, that users will often revert or usurp redirects to re-create deleted articles. Do regularly patrol the redirects in the feed.
- Not English
- A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, and if they do have potential, tag as required, then move to draft. Modify the text of the template as appropriate before sending it.
- Tools
Regular reviewers will appreciate the most recent enhancements to the New Pages Feed and features in the Curation tool, and there are still more to come. Due to the wealth of information now displayed by ORES, reviewers are strongly encouraged to use the system now rather than Twinkle; it will also correctly populate the logs.
Stub sorting, by SD0001: A new script is available for adding/removing stub tags. See User:SD0001/StubSorter.js, It features a simple HotCat-style dynamic search field. Many of the reviewers who are using it are finding it an improvement upon other available tools.
Assessment: The script at User:Evad37/rater makes the addition of Wikiproject templates extremely easy. New page creators rarely do this. Reviewers are not obliged to make these edits but they only take a few seconds. They can use the Curation message system to let the creator know what they have done.
DannyS712 bot III is now patrolling certain categories of uncontroversial redirects. Curious? Check out its patrol log.
