The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Misplaced Pages, and what affects administrator retention. This particular editor, however, still does seem to get that such edits/behavior is simply not appropriate for Misplaced Pages. I don't want to sound like a fuddy-duddy, but this kind of stuff, in my opinion, shows a serious lack of maturity and I am not sure how much ] this person needs to keep being given. - ] (]) 00:46, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

The Irish are anti-Semites who side with the Arabian imperialists in order steal the Jewish homeland. You scum recognize the fake "State of Palestine," an illegal Arabian colonial entity on Jewish land.

**Yeah, a rich, Jewish heritage. ], 1079: "Five Jews came from over sea with gifts to Toirdelbach, and they were sent back again over sea." There's the rich medieval Jewish history of Ireland. By the seventeenth century, there were a few Jews living in Dublin, with a single synagogue. Since 1891, the number of Jews in Ireland has always been fewer than 4,000. Then we get the ]—oops, ahem, "boycott"—and ]. Post-war, Jewish groups had great difficulty in getting refugee status for Jewish children, whilst at the same time, a plan to bring over four hundred Catholic children from the Rhineland encountered no difficulties. The Department of Justice explained in 1948 that: "It has always been the policy of the Minister for Justice to restrict the admission of Jewish aliens, for the reason that any substantial increase in our Jewish population might give rise to an anti-Semitic problem." Oh, and that Israeli president you mentioned? "On July 18, 2014, a window of the synagogue in north Belfast was smashed. The day after, the replacement window was smashed too. Less than a month later, a house in the city with a plaque honoring former Israeli president on it was targeted by anti-Israel protesters who threw items on the house, scrawled racist graffiti and tried to take down the plaque with a crowbar. Eventually it was removed by the community out of concern to the residents living in neighboring houses." And you people seem to have problem with accepting Muslim "refugees"—]. And allowing the powerful Islamist lobby to influence Irish foreign policy, such as calling Israel "racist and apartheid" and recognizing a fake Arabian settler-colonist entity called "State of Palestine" that is illegally occupying Judea and Samaria.

I'm confused about your argument. You said that ] doesn't say anything about including the birth name in the lead...except for where it does. In the "First mention" section, it says "In some cases, subjects have legally changed their names at some point after birth. In these cases the birth name should be given as well:", such as in this case. It then gives a specific set up example: "William Jefferson "Bill" Clinton (born William Jefferson Blythe III, August 19, 1946) ..." Does that not look exactly like the edit I made to Amazon Eve's page?
As for ], I don't see how this relates to my edit. I didn't change "actress" to "actor", and I'm not trying to imply that she isn't a woman in the slightest. I'm merely stating what her birth name was in the lead, as BIRTHNAME recommends.

==Your administrator and bureaucrat status on the Manx Misplaced Pages==
Hello. A ] regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc.) was adopted by ] in 2013. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing activity on wikis with no inactivity policy.
You meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for 2 years) on the wiki listed above. Since that wiki does not have its own rights review process, the global one applies.
If you want to keep your rights, you should inform the community of the wiki about the fact that the stewards have sent you this information about your inactivity. If the community has a discussion about it and then wants you to keep your rights, please contact the stewards at ], and link to the discussion of the local community, where they express their wish to continue to maintain the rights.
If you wish to resign your rights, you can reply here or ].
If there is no response at all after approximately one month, stewards will proceed to remove your administrator and/or bureaucrat rights. In ambiguous cases, stewards will evaluate the responses and will refer a decision back to the local community for their comment and review. If you have any questions, please contact the ]. ::: Hi Liz! Thanks for the followup :) I don't like to step on anyone's toes either, but this one was pretty egregious. I understand that Serendipodous meant well, and that this one fell through the cracks. The way with the Jenner case is that folks are saying his LGBT status is a kinda "big, open secret" at this stage, which it may well be. Unfortunately, all of this is sourced to one speculative magazine article, plus whispers and comments from others, along with people making pointed comments about his appearance. In short, we don't have a ] for anything about his orientation or identity. And until we do, it should be kept out. Especially when it comes to LGBT issues, this can have a serious impact on a person's life, and sometimes, their safety. We need to be super-careful. The same happened with ]. Everyone knew he was gay (especially us 'insiders' :) ) but there was no reliable source to confirm that until Tim actually outed himself in a recent interview. Then the floodgates open and his article was update, which is the way it should be, really - ] ] 19:55, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
:::: ], luckily, ] fell out of the Top 10 reported on the Signpost but he still appears on ] at #12 with an explanation that is a dig at ]. Hi. I don't know the processes very well. I had an assignment to keep up with wiki page for school and began. I first chose something non-controversial and it was asked that I try something with more depth. Thus, I edited ]. After almost making the mistake of an edit war, I went to the talk page.
I expected some back and forth, however one particular user AndyTheGrump appears overtly disruptive. He had content deleted from the commons despite the permissions being given, he deleted 12,000+comments that disagree with his point of view as 'archive', I think. Well, just look at the talk history and read my talk page. If he is correct, he is certainly not providing clear explanations nor being polite. Will you please advise?
Thank You] (]) 12:31, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
:I'd advise looking at the edits in question, which improperly removed posts by other contributors - the archiveng had been done by a bot. I have ''repeatedly'' pointed this out to Dcrsmama, who seems however to fail to comprehend why this is improper. As for the file uploaded to commons, it was speedy deleted as a copyright violation, since Dcrsmama had misleadingly stated that the image was public domain, - the supposed source for this statement said nothing of the sort. Dcrsmama is a ] clearly intent on pushing a fringe view regarding the ] article, and who's response when policy has been explained has been to ignore such comment, and carry on regardless. Frankly, I can see no reason why Misplaced Pages would need such a contributor. ] (]) 12:59, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
::I had just told AndyTheGrump about the bot edits. this is the first he mentions the bot. Otherwise, he speaks for himself. Commons will make the decision on the copyright. As he well knows, I have published now three times the link to where the creators give permission to use their work. Vaccine reform may be a less vocal group, but not a fringe group. Otherwise, he speaks for himself.] (]) 13:25, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
:::Commons has already deleted the image as a copyright violation. Nowhere on the page that Dcrsmama linked there did the words 'public domain' appear, and nothing on the page could be interpreted as a statement that they were releasing their own self-created content into the public domain. Though frankly this is a non-issue anyway, since a graph from a partisan source like healthsentinel.com is clearly unacceptable in a medical article per ].
:::Incidentally, I'm unsure why Dcrsmama chose this page to raise these issues - there doesn't seem to have been any prior interaction? ] (]) 13:35, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

here: https://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Incidents#Bulk_Delete_Action_by_Robert_RMS125a_AT_yahoo.com_aka_Quis_separabit.3F
I was wondering if you cared to take a look and comment. I have no proof that Robert has practiced as he admitted, "deletionist tendencies", but perhaps you do. Hi Alison. I noticed that you indefinitely protected this talk page back in 2010. Although the policy is silent on this issue, in my opinion, talk pages should only be protected indefinitely in the case of serious and ongoing disruption. According to the protection log, you protected the page due to BLP violations, but I can see no evidence of such edits in the 11 months or so before you protected the page. As such, I can't see any good reason to continue with indefinite protection of this talk page, which is preventing unregistered users from discussing and proposing edits to this semi-protected article.
Would you consider removing the protection? If disruption resumes, of course, I would not object to the protection being reinstated (although ideally not "indefinite" protection). I came by to alert you to the discussion taking place on the talk page concerning the use of the term "investigate" vs. "discuss" or perhaps some other. I also had a question and request. **Was an error too? It is the edit that drew my attention the word "investigate." Yes, the scare quotes were inappropriate, but someone other than yourself should have made that edit because that is the path advised by ] in such situations. But putting that aside for a moment, I have a question. Why haven't you complied with ] by putting the connected contributor template at the top of the talk page and making a COI disclosure on your user page? In the RfC discussion you say in small print that "we all know that" you are the site's co-founder. Anyway, just for context, I was just short of 13 years old when that happened. Age-wise, I could see my parents maybe having some sort of filter on my computer, I'm pretty sure it was not some sort of computer virus. I never specifically asked them about it, my mom could get kind of reactive about things so I didn't want her assuming I was doing something inappropriate. The only thing I can think of on why it never recurred again is that they took internet away from that computer (for reasons that stretch outside of this conversation, nothing terrible though, mainly staying up too late and being lethargic at school) and they maybe never thought to do that again.

Today is Schoenberg's 150th birthday! On display his portrait by Egon Schiele, music from Moses und Aron, and two DYK hooks, one from 2010 and another from 2014; the latter, about his 40th birthday, appeared on his 140th birthday ;) - See places for a stunning sunrise, on the day Bruckner's 200th birthday was celebrated (just a few days late). -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:03, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
Invitation to participate in a research
Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Misplaced Pages, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind Regards,
BGerdemann (WMF) (talk) 19:21, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
Reminder to participate in Misplaced Pages research
Hello,
I recently invited you to take a survey about administration on Misplaced Pages. If you haven’t yet had a chance, there is still time to participate– we’d truly appreciate your feedback. The survey is anonymous and should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement.
Take the survey here.
Kind Regards,

CheckUser
Hello, I need some assistance. Currently, there seems to be an increasing number of "puppet accounts" (sockpuppets) on the Uzbek Misplaced Pages. To help identify and manage these accounts, I would like to request checkuser status. Abdufattohov Ibrohimjon (talk) 02:29, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi there. Unfortunately, I cannot help you. While I'm an administrator and checkuser here on the English Misplaced Pages, these don't extend to other wikis. Really sorry - maybe check locally or ask a a Wikimedia Steward? - Alison 03:28, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message
Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}
to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:05, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Category:User en-IE
A tag has been placed on Category:User en-IE indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz 06:40, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- I went ahead and deleted it myself. When I created it earlier, I actually thought I was still on Meta - Alison 06:41, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
Weird Censoring Issue from 2011
I know this is from over a decade ago, but I was looking at my contribution history and it made me think of the time when my browser was inexplicably censoring everything on your page and the page of User:Jolly Janner and you ended up having to be in the middle of it. Not sure if you even remember it occurring, but I thought you might be interested in hearing an update all these years later because it was so bizarre.
It definitely was not malicious on my part, I was as confounded about it as anyone else, plus I curse like a sailor in certain environments so I am not against profanity as a rule. --Thebirdlover (talk) 05:24, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hey there, @Thebirdlover:. Yeah, it's been nearly 15 years since that incident. I can tell you what happened. Back then, I was an Oversighter, and had responsibilities for personally-identifying information and for children's privacy. Back then, you were a minor, and I was alerted to remove certain information from your user page for your own safety. It's usually done very discretely and even administrators can't see the edits. So that's what happened.
- The issue with User:Jolly Janner was unrelated to yours but involved Doxxing, so I had to dive in there and do some redaction - Alison 22:22, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- I know what the oversight issue was about (that was going back to when I started here), I was talking about this situation that you were involved in related to my computer haphazardly removing expletives because I was reminded of it and felt like trying to explain what was going on as best as I possibly could (even though I still don't completely know what happened). --Thebirdlover (talk) 02:15, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, I had no idea what happened there, and still don't. It looks like there was some weird censorware on your computer, as it wasn't retroactively censored on the WP side, from what I can see - Alison 19:30, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
