== Please Add Roads to the maps of Irak, syria, etc ==

Following the news about civil war in Irak and Syria, we hear about important roads and Highwys. But we don't see them on the maps to get better oriented. Please someone add roads and highways also to the maps. Thanks!

== Why Husaybah is red? ==

I really don't think, that Husaybah on the iraqi-syrian border is in the hands of the government... please put it back to black.
In some news, there are reports about some explosions due to the rain in a certain town called Husaybah al-Scharqiyah ("East-Husaybah" - not eastern Husaybah), but it is surely not Husaybah on the border and surely not in possession of government.

It is not clear whether "Page Date" applies to the map itself, but otherwise the map is undated. It is important to know the "as of" of the map. It is best not to have to resort to the Archives to guess at the "official" date. What is with ? Where in this source does it mention Malahameh, Baaran, or Madhiq? None of these places are mentioned at all! Ok, so a road was reopened. Does that automatically mean that all ISIS positions between Ramadi and Fallujah are now under full ISF control? Of course not! That's ridiculous! You should revert your edit immediately, LightandDark2000.

:The source reports that the Khalidiya District has been entirely recaptured. The Khalidiya District includes the Khalidiya Island area, which according to Iraqi sources, encompasses the area between the villages of Albu Nimr and Albu Shajal (which includes all 3 of the villages changed). ] (]) 07:50, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

This is the talk page for discussing improvements to the Iraqi insurgency detailed map module.
Archives: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5Auto-archiving period: 30 days
WARNING: ACTIVE COMMUNITY SANCTIONS

The article Module:Iraqi insurgency detailed map, along with other pages relating to the Syrian Civil War and ISIL, is designated by the community as a contentious topic. The current restrictions are:

  • Limit of one revert in 24 hours: This article is under WP:1RR (one revert per editor per article per 24-hour period)

Editors who repeatedly or seriously fail to adhere to the purpose of Misplaced Pages, any expected standards of behaviour, or any normal editorial process may be sanctioned.

Remedy instructions and exemptions

Enforcement procedures:

  • Violations of any restrictions (excluding 1RR/reverting violations) and other conduct issues should be reported to the administrators' incidents noticeboard. Violations of revert restrictions should be reported to the administrators' edit warring noticeboard.
  • Editors who violate any listed restrictions may be blocked by any uninvolved administrator, even on a first offense.
  • An editor must be aware before they can be sanctioned.

With respect to any reverting restrictions:

  • Edits made solely to enforce any clearly established consensus are exempt from all edit-warring restrictions. In order to be considered "clearly established" the consensus must be proven by prior talk-page discussion.
  • Edits made which remove or otherwise change any material placed by clearly established consensus, without first obtaining consensus to do so, may be treated in the same manner as clear vandalism.
  • Clear vandalism of any origin may be reverted without restriction.
  • Reverts of edits made by anonymous (IP) editors that are not vandalism are exempt from the 1RR but are subject to the usual rules on edit warring. If you are in doubt, contact an administrator for assistance.

If you are unsure if your edit is appropriate, discuss it here on this talk page first. Remember: When in doubt, don't revert!

This module does not require a rating on Misplaced Pages's content assessment scale.

Page date is out of date in Template "Iraqi insurgency detailed map"

It is not clear whether "Page Date" applies to the map itself, but otherwise the map is undated. It is important to know the "as of" of the map. It is best not to have to resort to the Archives to guess at the "official" date. Note: Since the status of all locations cannot be realistically know in "real time," there is obviously some art to picking a date, if date of last entry is not deemed "best." --- Thanks, PNA

Big changes to the structure of the template/module

I plan on making big changes to the structure of the template/module. This include:

  1. -Stop using for icons the codes such as m.gov, etc... because they are outdated and somewhat misleading. Also, for some cases, they just don't give you a correct icon. We will just go back to using the picture icon directly in the code (such as "Location dot red.svg"). So what you see is what you get.
  2. -Bring back border crossings on the Syria border from the Irak/Syria module back to here. A border crossing might not have the same color on both sides of the frontier. Tradedia 20:36, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
