Surname

The third-party sources do tell about his original surname being "Chabeniski" but such a surname does not exist in Russia and does not make sense. There's "Chabenski" though (there's a popular Russian actor Konstantin Khabenski). 217.118.93.102 (talk) 18:35, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

Early Years

It says Cuban saved money to get a pair of expensive basketball shoes when he was 12. This would've been 1970. They didn't even have expensive basketball shoes then. Can you say he *earned* his way to college in this way? Did he get a scholarship for collecting stamps (that sounds crazy) or did he rather earn enough money to pay for college by collecting and selling stamps? I was going to change this to "He paid for college by...." but then thought maybe I'm missing something. In fact, I'm just going to Be Bold and make the change. If he really did get into college on the merits of Stamp Collecting rather than just earning enough money to pay for college by Philatelic_Investment I'm sure someone will change it back... R.K.O

What is a R.K.O that is referred to under trivia? It doesn't make anysense and the link goes to an article about wrestling throws but I can't find a R.K.O mentioned? Maybe I'm blind, or maybe I'm just new to wikipedia, but I didn't want to edit the article in case it was just me. Prehaps someone else, with a bit more "wiknowledge", could fix this up.

I removed "Paid a million dollar fine in pennies" from the triva section because on 01-31-2006 said on that it wasn't true.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Cuban had anything to do with the acquisitions of Nash, Finley, nor Nowitzki. Finley's been there since the '96-'97 season and Nash & Nowitzki both arrived in '98-'99. The article says in it that Cuban purchased the team in 2000.

I dont find this article neutral and is more a boost for cuban's ego!

Why did Nash leave the team or was he fired?

This page has two different dates for the purchase of the team's jet. Please correct. Under Guinness Record reference, the year is one year earlier than the purchase's previous reference in this article

You're right -- Cuban didn't have anything to do with the acqusitions of Nash, Finley and Nowitzki. I just edited that out. I agree, too, that the tone is not objective. It should also be fixed.

Rivalry

I think it would be cool to include his bitter rival with Donald Trump. I watched ESPN 2's "Quite Frankly with Stephen A. Smith", that had Cuban as a guest, and it was fun to learn of the rival between the 2 men. Cuban said of Trump, "Once and idiot, always an idiot," after showing a clip of "Quite Frankly" when Stephen A. had Trump as a guest. I can't remember everything that was said, but both men were taking verbal shots at each other.

Nash

Nash was a free agent. Nash left the Mavs because Cuban was looking for a sign and trade with him and Shaq.

No, Nash left because the Mavericks didn't offer him enough money.

The second is more correct. The Mavericks couldn't really offer Nash enough money, because it would push them over the cap, which would cost a lot more. According to Cuban, the Mavericks never got an offer for Shaq. Figharrrburt 02:59, 28 May 2006

Outside perspective

Figharrrburt removed a comment concerning how Mark Cuban is perceived by fans of other teams with the snide comment "sorry, this isn't a Spurs forum." Mr. Fingharbutt, it's not a Mavs forum, either, and Cuban is incredibly annoying to many people outside of Dallas. There are comments in this discussion stating that the tone of the article is not objective ... and your deletion continues that trend. The sentences removed could be written better, but if you are going to call him "the fan's dream (come true)," you need to balance this with how non-Mavs fans perceive him.

Sorry for not being completely up to speed on wiki etiquette. I made some factual changes on dates, places and things. The items I removed regarding the mavs, free agents, etc, were put back in. That's fine. No big deal. The Gary Weiss stuff. Again, no big deal. Treats the parties "pragmatically"?

I think that's the wrong word for this context. "he treats relationships with major political parties pragmatically, but chooses not to become directly involved with them." First, "pragmatism" is a fairly technical epistemological term, and although its widely used sloppily there's no good excuse for doing so here. Coming so soon after the discussion of Cuban's Objectivist readings, it sounds as if we're saying, "He tempered his readings of Rand with later readings of Charles Peirce," which probably isn't so, or isn't the point. Second, I think that what is meant here is that Cuban deals with the political parties as necessary to protect his business interests. Using his own blog as "reference material"?

I am not sure if this falls under the self-promotion rules, and especially since his blog does not allow dissenting opinions, is not likely to be an objective source of information. Please see WP:AUTO , specifically the section which states: "If the only source for a particular fact about you is you yourself, then readers cannot verify it. (One common area where this is the case is with hopes, dreams, thoughts, and aspirations. There is no way for readers to verify what you think.) However true something may be, if readers cannot verify it, it does not belong here. Everything in Misplaced Pages articles must be verifiable."

I have no problem with an external link to it, just with it being used as a citation for a fact that otherwise cannot be verified. For example, the radio show getting dropped is according to him due to other owners not knowing his value to the league? NPOV of the other owners, based solely on his own blog comments does not prove that this was the reason the show was dropped.

If his blog is going to be a source of material, then it should also be a source of criticism. opposing viewpoints in the comments of his blog, (those that have survived deletion) should then be an equally valid reference source. However, that is I am sure a slippery slope that nobody wants to go down, so it might be better to just remove the use of his blog as reference material when asserting a controvertial point. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by CodeCarpenter (talk • contribs) 15:18, 19 December 2006 (UTC).

I was tempted to revert the comment that the Cubs were for sale, but did some research first, and found this article. As much as I personally dislike his antics in Dallas, I think he would be a great NL owner, someone with the pockets to compete with the Yankees and Red Sox in the spending department. Cuban is not an Objectivist

Mark Cuban is not an Objectivist. He has railed against speculators on his blog for pushing up gas prices and taken many other non-Objectivist positions. Looks like it . Apparently, there's some sort of quasi-policy on wikipedian about not allowing links to websites that "attack" wikipedians (see WP:NPA) and (WP:ATTACK SITES).

Opposition to Sonics Move

Cuban's interests in acquiring ownership and stake in other teams

I knew he was interested in the purchase of the bankrupt Dodgers whom are under MLB caretaking, and Mark Cuban already has a stake in the Pittsburgh Penguins. I thought he was interested in buying a stake in the Dallas Cowboys NFL franchise, because he wanted to include a pro (American) football team, though he has partial ownership of the Las Vegas Locos of the UFL. Rumor has it the Los Angeles Dodgers may leave town next season, to be replaced by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim whom could leave Anaheim over the city namesake issue. Most possibly the Dodgers move to Dallas...while the Fort Worth-Tarrant county based Texas Rangers of the American League competes with the National League in Texas...unless the Houston Astros don't switch leagues from the NL to AL. The UFL Locos could end up in Texas with the most likely candidate is Austin. He owns the Penguins in his home town of Pittsburgh, yet he may host a minor league hockey franchise in the new arena in Plano, Texas and is a feasible location for a future Major League ballpark, after the demolition of outmoded Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas. It'd be great if legitimate attempts to contribute weren't immediately flagged as vandalism and reverted

So, I made several revisions in the interest of cleaning up the article a bit and added the latest info about his attempt to buy the Dodgers. I took a good bit of time to do this, in the interest of making the article better. Immediately User:Jeffwang reverted these edits, claiming they were vandalism. When I asked why he thought so, he claimed that I added "fake edits" about the WWE. In fact, that information was not added by me, as can be seen under Line 101 in the original version, and, as it turns out, was 100% accurate (though the sourced links are now dead). This led to a heated exchange with Jeffwang at which point he finally bothered to actually check just what it was he was undoing and begrudgingly admitted he was wrong. So, I restored the edits I had made, only to have User:Jobin RV do the exact same thing. I'm not an idiot, I see how this game works. Any editors not part of the GOB network that would mind pointing out to these folks that my contributions were completely legitimate and accurate? Xpire and Storyline

I think it would be beneficial to add a sentence or two about Mark's digital privacy company, Xpire, and his new social media app Storyline. I know the app is only in beta at this time, but Mark himself has been marketing it on Twitter, saying it could save Twitter. Can anyone else find a better infobox image of Cuban. I checked wikicommons only to find two outdated poor images. Mark Cuban Religion

Hello Wikipedians,

In a September 2015 episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, Mr. Cuban literally he is a "non-practicing Jew," i.e. Judaism is not his religion.

Why then does the Infobox to this article keep stating that his religion is Judaism? Mark does come from Jewish lineage, but he doesn't practice Judaism. It shouldn't be in the infobox.

Please clarify, as I mean this with best intentions.

High School Graduate??

Instead of attending high school for his senior year, he enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Pittsburgh...

If he hadn't completed high school, how did he get into college a year early? Or, was there some sort of special relationship with the college that allowed high school seniors to attend college a year prematurely? And did he actually receive his HS diploma (through the college)?? This is a little vague

Investments in Startups

Hi guys:) I am new to this wikipedia thing so if i do anything wrong please let me know!!!
