... for the kind words you left on my user page. I also have, for your enjoyment, a pair of userboxes that state I am an atheist and a member of the Anglican church.
I understand the spirit of why people are against userboxes (and mine are dwindling), pushing POV and using them to create factions and cliques. I fell in love with them originally however simply because a lot of them just made me laugh, and that's a nice break sometimes. Yes, I'm here primarily to write an encyclopedia, but userpages and their boxes let me know that I am creating with other people not faceless, text editors. ] 02:56, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

== John Strausbaugh page ==

Hello,

Thank you for your advice. I did some research and tried to fix the page. Also did a Google search re: importance. I notified Mr. Gustafson who admonished me for telling him what he already knew. Seems a number of people don't like this guy Strausbaugh. I always found his writing to be opinionated, but based on considerable research. I see that you have de-puffed the page. I feel that relevant information has been deleted. I have now checked out numerous author's pages and found them to be far more cluttered and "puffy" than this one ever was--although I do agree that it was a little over the top.

Sincerely,

]

Thank you for de-puffing the Strausbaugh page. It now looks like hell, however and the addition of the tag "publicity photo" beneath the portrait is obviously embarrassing. There are countless portraits of living writers on wikipedia that are not marred in this manner. What is the problem here? Do you and Gustafson have a particular issue with Strausbaugh? If so, I would truly like to know what it is. Perhaps it has merit. In any case, the following is copied from Gustafson's page. He deleted my last message requesting that he assign me a different administrator. He has been exceedingly rude and pompous. If you can assign me to another administrator, please have the kindness to do so. If not, please tell me the process. Thank you for your patience. ] 21:01, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

I don't feel like having a user page, so quit bugging me about it. Also, contrary to popular belief, I do not exist (and neither do you). I'm not nearly as active as I used to be, but still occasionally edit and weild my administrative cudgel. To No One

I'm downright pleased to be informed (by the non-you) that you "do not exist." Beg to differ on the idea that I don't either. I too was once lost to science fiction, but have returned to existance sans human form. Nonetheless, I can virtually control a keyboard. Considering that, in this sense, I do exist and you do not, I ask again that you transfer me to another administrator--preferably one who does exist, admits his or her existance and is not a member of that rouge clan of yours.
With all due respect and thanks to the non-existant,

== "Transport" orthographic imperialism.... ==

Thanks for your sound decision to raise the matter at Misplaced Pages talk:Naming conventions (categories). Uniformity would be nice, but we've already decided in essentially all such spelling/dialect matters that diversity is the better choice for our community, since we end up not imposing one system on everyone. (And, in the end, it's beautiful!) I suspect Darwinek has misunderstood the Guidelines about national varieties of English, but he's being very persistent. (He even seems on the verge of edit-warring with me in some of my reverts of his guideline-violating changes; and, note, also, he removed warnings from his talk page. I guess, what it boils down to for me, is that both you and the other editor, seem to feel that I have "an obvious bias" against the material in that article. I'm sure that you can understand my frustration, I simply cannot understand, without more specific details, why both of you seem to feel this way. I am willing to try to understand, perhaps, and this is why I implore you not to argue lofty goals, and what should or should not happen, but to specifically show me what was biased and inappropriate. I also understand if you don't, perhaps you have no further interest in this matter. Such is life. Take care. ] 04:27, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

(you) "both you and the other editor, seem to feel that I have "an obvious bias" against the material in that article". # Deleting may be gratifying, but it is equally ungracious.
# You didn't discuss the point on the talk page,
# You didn't even do 1 google to check to see if the point was right OR wrong.
# You didn't even review the article history for citations at point of creation.
# You refuse to revert the edit, even when asked nicely.
# You refuse to add a citation, even when presented with such. Even when asked nicely.

# 90% of wikipedia has no citation, just deleting 90% of wikipedia is clearly wrong. (Though it I admit it is tempting.)

I speculate that the only reason you deleted the point was because you considered it peculiar and not mundane enough. Thus maybe you forget that the criteria for inclusion in wikipedia is notability, not mundaneability.

:''Sure 'n begorrah - knew t'was so''... I actually looked up your edit line scores; it said edit summary usage for Ziggurat: 100% for major edits and 100% for minor edits. Not the kind of person who routinely forgets to <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>. Cheers - ] (]) 02:24, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi - I posted the section with the same name on my talk page.
Oddly enough, I have been looking for that citation off and on ever since you left that comment. It had admittedly fallen off my radar screen as of late, but I started thinking of it again when I revisited that discussion for my nomination. Back yonder, I found the text through an online search engine available through my university at the time. I was unable to retrace my path. As it stands now, I think the article may be ripe for deletion since we can't verify the source given. --<font color="3300FF">] (])</font> 02:24, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

User: Shotwell suggested (on my talk page) "I would endorse a WP:EXPERTADVICE page that outlined the wikipedia policies and goals for researchers in a way that enticed them to edit here in an appropriate fashion. Perhaps a well-maintained list of expert editors with institutional affiliation would facilitate this sort of highly informal review process. BTW, I do not see any reason why the anonymity of editors on Misplaced Pages is considered to be a "good thing". Above is my general opinion, so please don't take my statement personally.
Waves a mysterious hello. Hello to Firsfron as well.
There is obviously a choice given for everyone in Misplaced Pages either to act "in open" or to hide behind meaningless assumed pseudonym and I accept this situation.
BTW, I do understand current Misplaced Pages concept that in order to produce good Misplaced Pages science article, one does not need to be a professional scientist ... - that is fine with me ...
But I propose to have (at least optionally) ability to review/qualify such article by the professional scientist.

Hi there! I'm not very familiar with ASR myself, but I notice there's quite some other similar pointers in mainspace, e.g. Delete and Guideline and probably others. Notability now a guideline

A sad time for Misplaced Pages... although it was generally accepted by the community, now there's an incredibly subjective barrier of inclusion for Misplaced Pages. -- Chris chat edits essays 19:02, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Aribitration relating to NNOT and Radiant

Hey, this relates to the above headers. I just put together an arbitration case at Misplaced Pages:Requests_for_arbitration#Harrassment.2C_talk_page_vandalism.2C_and_non-consensus_changes_to_guideline. Radiant has pushed notability on us without any clear consensus. Other things are also at hand. I would greatly appreciate your input. Fresheneesz 05:17, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

AfD closure

I appreciate your notes, I am weighing them considerably. Honestly, the reason I closed it was, it has been going on since September 25. It seemed clear that there would be no consensus reached, and I felt standing by would delay the inevitable. But again, your points are valid and will influence my actions in the future. PT 23:24, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

It seems that you and I are in a similar situation regarding AfD closures by the gentleman above me in the user talk: PT. I would like us to work together and with him if possible in allowing our debate to be heard. From the talk on his page I am feeling like you and I are both being filibustered in a sense. Thanks for your quick reply despite your wikibreak, which I hope you are enjoying. You are right that the world will not end if this or that article does not get deleted. I am more interested in generally cleaning wikipedia up from extraneous non-encyclopediac information. One question I have for you is about your comment on the template I used. I did in fact use the same template for renomination that you linked in the comment. Hope you are well and again, enjoy your wikibreak! Green hornet 02:43, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:TheWarIllustrated1915.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:TheWarIllustrated1915.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Misplaced Pages is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:50, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
