: It's me again. :) I can see why you'd think this might be a joke. Whilst the slang term isn't used in the US, in the British Isles, it is actually the most common (non-vulgar) way to refer to flatulence and therefore most common among children and the middle classes. Every dictionary I own includes extensive entry on this usage over centuries (Collins, Oxford, Chambers, COBUILD). Would you conisder a reference to one of those adequate to demonstrate common usage? | |||

Either remove “trumping” from § Terminology or add a source. The Pythagoreans didn't eat faba beans due to the flatulence they cause according to Cicero:
