You were right. Per ], I shouldn't have replaced the secondary source with a primary source on ]. I have since restored the primary source alongside the preexisting secondary source. The sentence presents the information as "one suggested mechanism", so it would be useful to include where the suggestion comes from with a secondary source as evaluation.
