Welcome

Hello there Flipkin, welcome to the 'pedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you need pointers on how we title pages visit Misplaced Pages:Naming conventions or how to format them visit our manual of style. MobyGames

Hi, Flipkin. I've noticed you've been going about adding MobyGames links to several video games articles. Thanks for doing this! A lot of them need the link. I thought you might be interested in using the template for MobyGames entries:

{{moby game|id=<everything in the URL after "game">|name=<game title>}}

to use, fill in the two fields. For example, for Pinball Construction Set:

{{moby game|id=/pinball-construction-set|name=''Pinball Construction Set''}}

renders this:

Pinball Construction Set at MobyGames

Of course, you're not required to use it, but I thought you might find it useful. Take care! Frecklefoot | Talk 18:43, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

Hi, Frecklefoot. I am still learning the system so I am not sure if I should reply here or on your Talk page. The template is great. There are some nuances it does not cover. For instance All-Star Baseball entry is for the series of games and not just one. In which case the link:
http://www.mobygames.com/game_group/sheet/gameGroupId,571/
would be more appropriate. Also I imagine on occasion one may wish to link to the platform specific page instead of the combined page.
Example
http://www.mobygames.com/game/intellivision/bump-n-jump
vs
http://www.mobygames.com/game/bump-n-jump
Best
--Flipkin 14:14, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

I'm glad you're using it in some of the changes you make. However the template will work for the examples you cite. Remember, just enter everything after "game" in the URL. Both your examples URL's have "game" in them and you can put any text in the "game title" field. So, for the link:

http://www.mobygames.com/game/intellivision/bump-n-jump

you'd do this:

{{moby game|id=/intellivision/bump-n-jump|name=The Intellivision version of ''Bump-N-Jump''}}

which would render this:

The Intellivision version of Bump-N-Jump at MobyGames

You can do the same with similar URL's, such as the series one you cite. However, while I can see cases where you'd want to link to series, I can't think of a case where you'd want to link to just one version of a game. But if there is some extraordinary circustance, the template will handle it. HTH Frecklefoot | Talk 20:03, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

Random Mobygames comment

I was doing some preliminery research for writing up an article on KISS: Psycho Circus. I'm almost certain that Mobygames has the release date incorrect, MobyGames states the US release was mid July, whereas every other online site gives the release some time early August. I think the August date is backed up by the fact that a private release party was held on July 31, 2000 as evidenced by this old link. Do you have any backup for your July claim? - Hahnchen 16:50, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Actually, scratch that. Further research shows the date as 17/7/00. - Hahnchen 17:15, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Riviera: The Promised Land links

I would like to discuss the links to overall gaming sites in the article for Riviera: The Promised Land. I should probably start by explaining exactly why I think they shouldn't be there. These websites are fairly popular, and if people want information from them it wouldn't be difficult to just search for it on those sites. The MobyGames link doesn't even have any information that the other sites linked to in that article didn't, so it just seems like it would be wasting space to have so many links there. Fair use disputed for Image:Columbia GSB.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Columbia GSB.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:33, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

David E. Scott

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article David E. Scott, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Misplaced Pages is not" and Misplaced Pages's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of David E. Scott. Speedy deletion nomination of Berk's Law

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Berk's Law requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines.
