The school was established in ] and celebrated 20 years of operation in 2003, an event which Northholm highlighted by 'Back to Northholm' day, where current and past students were asked to attend the school and participate in numerous activities.


The school was established in 1983 and is situated on 10 hectares. ==Education Philosophy==
Northholm's academic curriculum is combined with a ] community. The School seeks to be large enough to cater for wide academic choices and small enough to care for the individual student. High expectations and pastoral care are the School's stated ideals that guide the development of young people in their adolescent growth. Northholm offers many co-curricular activities, international cultural exchanges and opportunities for students to find new interests and skills. Senior students may choose to study TAFE vocational courses linking school and future work. The Middle Years program for Years 5 to 8 features a core curriculum taught by teams of teachers.

The School's published aim is to provide a framework for students to develop character and Christian values. Its approach to learning is expressed in its Prospectus where the education philosophy is "To teach students a love of knowledge and learning, a love of one's neighbour, a love of God and the world He created and a love of oneself in its proper sense."

The Northholm school crest features the central cross of Saint George, within the lower right of the crest is an open book to symbolise learning, while the top left of the crest shows the rod and staff of the Good Shepherd (Psalm 23) symbolising pastoral care. Northholm is based on a Christian tradition that is Anglican in its ethos and welcoming of any faiths.

Students, mainly of a Christian background enrol at Northholm and attend weekly Chapel service in additon to compulsory faith and life (Christian Studies) classes. All families enrolling their children at the school are expected to allow their sons or daughters to attend the Christian chapel service.

The Christian ideals that Northholm seeks to encourage in their students include service to others, honesty, integrity and a valuing of the spiritual dimension of life.

In 1983 there were three Houses at Northholm. These were Capell, Patteson and Rowland. Capell was assigned the colour red, Patteson white and Rowland blue, these being the three school colours. However when in 1984 Lincoln House was added and given the colour green, it was decided that since tradition had been broken Patteson could choose the more distinctive colour of yellow.

Rowland was awarded an Air Force Cross, Distinguished Flying Cross and Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire during his service in the Royal Australian Air Force, and later appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia.

Rowland House was established in 1983 as one of the original three houses. Rowland is characterised by its house spirit.

The school is currently following its strategic plan ''Towards 2007'', which includes the construction of new classroom buildings to replace older buildings, a new drama room, computer facility and independent learning centre. The first part of this master plan, a car park for the staff and Year 12 students of Northholm has been completed and the new classroom building is now in use. Road works and a new drop-off zone for morning and afternoon traffic will be completed, along with multi-purpose courts for student sporting activities on the lower oval.
