I really tend to speak up when I see racism. But I don't see an ounce of it in Kelly in her alleged 2019 "controversial statements".

1) She talked about how things were when she was "a kid", then 2) she expressed an opinion about a person wearing darker makeup ''out of admiration for someone else.
''
This deserves a different treatment in the Misplaced Pages article, because her critics never had any basis for their claims.

Proof of this-- is the fact that the article doesn't quote or cite (give weight to) any of these ''specific'' claims from ''specific'' sources. Likely because they carry little to no weight, by Misplaced Pages standards.

In this situation, comments that are supportive of her claim that she had no racist intent ''do'' therefore have weight and should be included.

"Attorney"

Article gives too much weight to unproven 2018 allegations of racism

I really tend to speak up when I see racism. But I don't see an ounce of it in Kelly in her alleged 2019 "controversial statements".

1) She talked about how things were when she was "a kid", then 2) she expressed an opinion about a person wearing darker makeup out of admiration for someone else. This deserves a different treatment in the Misplaced Pages article, because her critics never had any basis for their claims.

How does one determine her "intent"? We can't. We cover things as they are covered by reliable sources. Her blackface comment led her to being fired by NBC, which is clearly a significant life event for the subject. I think you are right though that this paragraph is missing information about the backlash that led to her firing since it's a bit incomplete without that. – Muboshgu (talk) 22:45, 8 April 2022 (UTC)

I"ll do some research on backlash to her firing. Thanks.

Yes we have to just summarize what WP:RS say about the topic if it has WP:SIGCOV. If we interpret things in our own way that isnt supported in the media, its considered WP:OR. Hope some of these policies can help clear any confusion up! Eruditess (talk) 22:23, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

A quibble about the word "material": express opinions, express sentiments, express reasoning. 'Expressing material' sounds odd to me. Walter Dufresne (talk) 15:05, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
