== "Stereotype of the Jew" ==

Following Lee Jussim we can assume that most stereotypes are statistically rather correct and that they are kept over the times just therefore. So Alecsandri was hardly the inventor of a successful stereotype, but the other way round his depictions of Jews were succesful because they matched the common experiences.
For an even-handed debate of Jews and Jewish behaviour in Romania we can profitably read the chapter in "Esau's tears" by Albert Lindeman, an admirable work of Jewish self-criticism. ] (]) 15:30, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
