:::::: I'm not really sure what problem you've run into. If you remember, we only made the sizing to go from one to nine years, and let ten and more all be at the same large size. The template works fine with sixteen years: <code><nowiki>{{User QAIbox/auto|years=Sixteen}}</nowiki></code>, but its size is no bigger than for ten years. Capitals make no difference to the template. --] (]) 16:50, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
::::::: ], I tried to describe. The id in the table, for a user's entry, has to be equal to basepagename in the template, or the link from the years doesn't go to the right position. I managed for all so far since we use the template but not for pablo_X (or Pablo_X), and don't know what my mistake is. It's eight years for him, - he was recommended to me by ] for his eighth anniversary of editing. I remember as if it was yesterday. and liked all encounters with pablo, from that first on, sadly becoming more and more rare. Just look at his present talk page. --] (]) 19:45, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
:::::::: Okay, found it. Pablo X likes to style themselves as "pablo X". But the template uses <nowiki>{{BASEPAGENAME}}</nowiki> to pick up the name and make a link to the id in the table at ], and their BASEPAGENAME is actually "Pablo X". Because links to anchors are case-sensitive (and the id creates an anchor), the link generated (]) didn't have an id (anchor) in the table that matched. I've just changed the id in the table from "pablo_X" to "Pablo_X" (their real name). The anchor now matches the link and it works as intended. : ], thank you for the thorough review. I understand that in order to make Bach's chorale cantatas a good topic, this cantata - as part of it - has to be a good article, and I am willing to put work into it to make it so. ] is about the Vespers for the Blessed Virgin, or Vespers of 1610, by ]. His opera '']'', premiered in 1607, is the first opera still widely performed, and the Vespers are similarly exceptional. Monteverdi, aspiring to a better positiom than court musician in Mantua, demonstrated the broad range of his abilities, writing with a post in Rome in mind, but instead went to ], a few years later. We don't know if the music was ever performed completely during his lifetime, nor if he actually expected it to be performed that way. Certainly musicologists and musicians have been fascinated from the 20th century on. Monteverdi set much more text than the usual 5 psalms + Magnificat, and required a 10-part choir in one psalm, and a rich orchestra. He combined the ever-present ] with dramatic and virtuoso elements from the emerging opera, and offered a great diversity in musical styles and expression. is a short introduction, - in the background you hear an extreme performance, a recording which renders only the music Monteverdi wrote (and no additions to make it a proper liturgical vespers service), with 10 singers, and soloists for all instruments. I heard them in concert at the ] which will be missed this year.
The article is the work of many over many years ... The main inspiration came from ] who wrote the articles about the composer and his operas, and who generously ] he had collected, the greatest honour I received in my ten years here. (])

While I agree with the sentiments of , I think it's worth quoting a bit of ] : "{{xt|Say something there only if you can say it well and politely, and it helps all concerned, causing no further harm.}}" I have to say that for those who understand what you mean, you're telling them something they already know, and for those who don't (or don't want to), you're just going to antagonise them : "{{xt|none so deaf as those who will not hear}}". Let those who want to ] do so and go about your business improving the encyclopedia; hopefully when the dust is settled around the charred remains of burned-out editors, some may think "you know what, we really should have looked at that picture of a kitten after all". ] ] ] 13:12, 7 September 2020 (UTC)

: ], please look around. --] (]) 07:36, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
:: I understand it's upsetting to hear that friends, colleagues etc. have died. However, there's a line between being upset and using it as a stick to beat other people with. For example, when I was trying to make the point that the COVID-19 pandemic was putting severe strain on people's mental health, going as far as suicide (and somewhat ironically, I had ] at the forefront of my mind there); however, using someone's death as a device to win an argument on Misplaced Pages is not acceptable and I shouldn't have done it. In the case you mention above, the point Cassianto and others were making is that there is an intractable and seemingly unresolvable dispute that doesn't seem able to resolve itself, and it would be a huge boost for the project for somebody to cut the ] and allow things to progress. But taking a stand on a difficult issue as an admin means you get a target on your back by anyone who doesn't agree with it. I think that's the point Cass was getting at; hoping the issue will go away is the simplest issue, but not necessarily the right one. It's different from ignoring individual drama queens who draw attention to themselves. ] ] ] 09:50, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
::: I see that you misunderstood completely, and lack of good faith is what's missing most in the sad repeated discussions. I mentioned respectful stance towards each other as the cure Jerome lived, and we should follow. I said again and again that I don't want ANYBODY sanctioned, because I think this is exactly the opposite of a respectful look at a user's comments. I am not even IN that argument, have refrained to say support or oppose in the two (and no more!) RfCs of 2020. So what do you mean by "winning" it? (rhetoric question) I disliked taking ''one'' person to AE, yes, for the reasons explained, that was one too many, imho. - I told you my solution about a cutting of the Gordian knot: don't participate, let it dry out. Who cares at the end of the day if a certain article has an infobox, or if it is collapsed? I don't. If we'd all stop to care we were done with the topic. --] (]) 10:33, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
::: - we should write his article --] (]) 10:42, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
:::: I have made a start ]. I'd like to give a fuller reply to the above at some point later today, but for now I'll reference : "{{xt|It takes a lot of courage to stand up to your enemies. It takes even more to stand up to your friends.}}" ] ] ] 11:11, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
::::: I have no enemies, and request everybody thinking I am their enemy to please let's talk about it. I stand up for those new to the discussions "welcomed" is if they were not (two more on Mozart recently, by the way). Sure, some may be not so new, but would it really hurt to treat them as if they were? And that's about all I'd like to see changed, in the spirit described. Is that general enough? - In case you defend your walk to AE, I believe you could find ways to stand up for your friends that don't deliver ''someone else'', potentially innocent, to the of AE. - Could you please let me know that you understand that I used my dead friend as a model, not as a stick? Because that really hurt. --] (]) 11:34, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
:::::: Of course, I'm sorry you were upset about that, and it was not my intention to do so; it's just when I get off-wiki complaints saying "Why can't you do something about Gerda?" (when from my point of view you are a prolific content creator, extremely kind and patient, caring and considerate) then I feel I at least need to spell the issue out so there's awareness of it. I used the quotation above because I'd like to consider you a friend on the project, and as it says, it takes courage to try and resolve an issue involving one of your friends when you think it may upset them. ] ] ] 11:37, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
::::::: So you support my point that there's too little good faith, expressed in offline and online aspersions. Made my day! - I consider you a friend, but telling me I have anything to with a stick and "heads off" wasn't exactly an expression of what I understand as friendship ;) There's a long history of the infobox wars on ], ending (bottom line, and hopefully last line ever) "In 2020, we could realise that we have more productive things to do than waste time in arguments about infobox yes or no." (February 2020) - Could you perhaps coordinate steps in getting there? Get the people together, - and I think you are on speaking terms with all involved? --] (]) 12:48, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
:::::::: I think my point is more that text communication is a difficult mechanism to convey what you actually mean (as opposed to what the other person thinks you mean) and it is too easy for people to misunderstand each other. All I would say is - concentrate on the articles. I see you have got two DYKs on the main page today, as have I. Focus on that. As stated above, I have started ] with a one sentence microstub off a single source; we'll need several more serious quality sources to demonstrate ] or ]; if you've got them, put them and we'll see what we can do. ] ] ] 17:11, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
::::::::: Text communication is difficult. Please go over my New Year's resolution, below the TOC, and tell me if anything is unclear. - I wrote about ] (not counting a FA and a few GAs), and commented (no more, not even taking a side, just commenting a futile waste of time) in 2 RfCs, and you tell me to focus on content, really? --] (]) 19:46, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
It crossed my mind that ] - Jerome's great work - matches my topic of the year - vision - perfectly. --] (]) 05:20, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
It crossed my mind further that perhaps I should not be silent about being just an ''observer'' of the infobox wars (or however they might be called). I was wounded, and had enough, deciding to step away in 2015. - Let's look at the current discussion. It could have been so short. Nominator presents reasoning per the MoS to uncollaps an infobox, asking for ''good'' reasons not to follow the MoS in the specific case. There are no ''good'' (= factual) reasons. So instead, we argue about not so good reasons, on several noticeboards, with rising heat. I try to be silent but sometimes the level of frustration is too high. It's a complete waste of everybody's time. The simple answer to a good proposal could be "Why not?" - The ] is a place for silence. Thank you for watching, made nice stats. --] (]) 07:25, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

2025 talk
We move from 2024 to 2025, with new calendar pictures and new music. The topic of Bach's chorale cantatas will keep me busy until 25 March, and then I want to focus on performances more generally, in history and in my experience. You can follow my daily stories, {{User Gerda Arendt/Top}}, often with an image and something to listen to: let's stay inspired and connected. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:57, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
#call for collaboration points at issues where I need help, such as reviews. Ongoing efforts regard locations that played a role in my life, recent deaths, music heard and sung, composers, gardens. Watch my user page for articles, done in collaboration. Compare 2024 for the amazing number of users who began and expanded articles. Thanks also to reviewers, and I do plan to review more and write less, and in writing, focus more on quality than the little daily article.
2025 calender pics and musical events begin here, and the 2025 diary of my own pictures of places, songs, food, flowers ... will come here, - just watch those lists if you are interested.
My talk goes like this: on top there's the "story" related to the day. Below are three or more boxes, often one for people remembered and others for musical experiences, performing or listening. In these boxes, topics related to the top story and topics featured on the Main page appear bold. Right here you see the image of the month with songs of the month, typically related to meetings with friends who gave them to me. I archive from time. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:25, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

- Aza24, thank you for the thorough review. I understand that in order to make Bach's chorale cantatas a good topic, this cantata - as part of it - has to be a good article, and I am willing to put work into it to make it so. However, right now I'm working simultaneously on several others with the same goal, and they require less work. I see me getting to serious changes for BWV 8 after the others, which will be in February. (The only one written later, BWV 1, is already a FA.) I'll make small changes now, perhaps today, but will then have to ask if the nom should remain open for longer or be closed and started over when I'm ready. Y'all: any help with this one and the others - making changes or reviewing - is welcome, see above, #calling for collaboration. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:06, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
Draft:William Owen (composer)
Gerda, I was asked to help on this because it failed draft review. I added a few sources, but thought maybe you would like to take this on as it is about a hymn composer. Best.4meter4 (talk) 03:57, 29 December 2024 (UTC
- I am interested, and thank you for thinking of me, but I have a few things I want to handle first, - just look above. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:57, 29 December 2024 (UTC)

- Thank you, great helper all around, for example the latest RD for which I had no time due to real life! - I wonder about the ratio of (lazy) click-thanks to real typed thank-you notes, and hope that I can offer more of the latter kind. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:00, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
