The song was first teased on September 30, 2019, through American rapper ]'s Instagram story. This was mostly because Gunna is signed to Thug's record label, ]. Thug is also close to Nav due to Gunna and American rapper and singer ], a mutual collaborator of the two. On December 27, 2019, it was teased again by Nav on his Instagram story. "Codeine" was written by Nav, Gunna, Nav's manager ], and Pro Logic, while it was produced by the former and latter. |
