Maruf Oyinkansola Salami (born December 18,1996) known professionally as Lami Cruise is an American rapper, songwriter, and film director from The Bronx, New York.Lami Cruise was born in Ibadan, Nigeria then relocated to The Bronx, New York as an infant after his parents won a visa lottery.

Early Life and Education

Lami Cruise developed a passion for composing music while in his 7th grade music class at M.S 181 in the Co-op City section of The Bronx.A pattern of youthful delinquency in high school led to Lami Cruise being sent to Nigeria where he attended boarding school.Lami Cruise began writing music while attending both "King's international College" & "Command Secondary School".After a series of freestyles posted by his classmates began going viral on various social media platforms he caught the attention of Nigerian record producer and gospel singer Yinka Ayefele.

Career

Lami Cruise publicly showcased is musical talent for the first time in 2018 after he was invited to Yinka Ayefele's radio station Fresh FM Ibadan. Lami Cruise toured with some rising acts such as T-Classic and Kwamz & Flava prior to releasing his debut single "No Problem" in 2022 following the pandemic. Lami began gaining traction in the underground music scene in late 2024 after releasing his single "Another Day" which went viral on TikTok. Lami Cruise is best known for his unorthodox use of melodies and punchlines incorporating themes of sarcasm, irony, and overcoming vices.
