On 20 January 2021, a building on the Calle de Toledo in Madrid, Spain, collapsed after a large explosion. The blast killed three people and wounded eleven others.

Some minutes before 15:00 CET, at a residence which provided training for priests and gave meals to homeless people, on Calle de Toledo, in Madrid, Spain, local workers were repairing a damaged boiler. The boiler then exploded and caused a gas leak, which then resulted in a massive explosion, partially destroying the building and leaving several people under the debris. Four people died in the blast: a 35-year-old male electrician, who was also a parishioner at the structure, and went there to repair the boiler; a 85-year-old man passerby; a 47-year-old Bulgarian man who was also a passerby; and a 35-year-old parish priest who died in hospital the day after the explosion.
