I took the time to read "copying text for other sources". I tried paraphrasing when I edited, but now I see that I was paraphrasing in the wrong way. I should have changed more than just a couple of words here and there. Big mistake on my part. I know I can do better than what I showed before. Please unblock me? In a nutshell, copyright is a legal term used to describe laws governing the use intellectual property.

How is Misplaced Pages licenced? As far as Using copyrighted work from others? Unless explicitly indicated (public domain, disclaimer, etc.) all content is copyrighted and must not be used in Misplaced Pages unless there is permission to use such works.

Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Misplaced Pages? Because using copyrighted content in Misplaced Pages violates copyright law.

Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content? We can use copyrighted content if the content is in public domain or there is a disclaimer by the content’s owner giving permission to use the content freely.

How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future? By properly paraphrasing and using quotes or attributing awhen necessary (but mostly paraphrasing).

@Yamla:I didn't know I was supposed to read WP:FAIRUSE. I have read it now. I see that short excepts from copyrighted material is also ok to be used only in quotations and with the content is properly attributed to the source or author. I will stick to paraphrasing in a way that doesn't violate guidelines, and attribute with quotations when its necessary. Yamla, I'm glad to see an improved understanding of our copyright policies. I am not opposed to an unblock, but I would also like Sea Ane to read the guidelines on reliable sources carefully though, and to recognise that we represent mainstream scholarship in our articles. Edits like this one, which attributes features of real-world aeroplane design to characters from Hindu scripture, and sourced to the Hindustan Times, are not acceptable. Yamla, @Girth Summit: I now understand better the type of sources generally used in Misplaced Pages. I see now that my edit was inappropriate because it used a rather bad or weak source to support information that should only be included through scholarly consensus. I understand now that books published by good publishers are preferred, and consensus among such published books is what we are looking for when adding information to Misplaced Pages. I also understand that certain newspapers and other news organizations can be used sometimes, but there is a list of requirements that they also need to abide by. For now I will keep to only adding information from what I know for certain are reliable sources. I think it will take a bit of editing experience to understand where the line is for other less reliable sources, so I'll leave those kinds of edits to more experienced editors for now (until I know for certain which newspapers are good enough and for what type of information). Sea Ane, OK, based on this, I'll accept your unblock. Please be careful in future, especially in the following areas:

• Do not copy material from any source, whether that be online or in print. Everything must be written in your own words.
• Take on board the guidance at WP:RS - newspapers might be reliable for basic assertions of fact about events, but if there is scholarly work about a subject then we will always defer to that.
• Please also review WP:MEDRS - biomedical assertions have even more stringent requirements, you should be very careful when adding any content about health issues.

Do you have any connection to @Rondolinda:? I ask this because I have noticed similarities between you two, but of course I could be mistaken. If you two are connected, that's not necessarily problematic because Misplaced Pages allows users to have WP:Alternative accounts and it also allows users to communicate off wiki under certain circumstances. But given that you have both voted in the same RfC, on the same side, it is incumbent upon you both to disclose any possible connection you may have.VR _talk 02:16, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
