Rinder is an Australian national who began his career in the Guardian's Office as Assistant Guardian, Flag Land Base, later serving in the Commodore's Messenger Organization. Rinder answers directly to David Miscavige, chairman of the board of the Religious Technology Center.
In November 1984, Rinder twice met with former Sea Org member Gerry Armstrong in a covert attempt to discredit him. Rinder falsely represented himself as being a member of a ficticious faction within Scientology management called "The Loyalists".
