At the Microsoft Build 2021 developer conference, CEO Satya Nadella teased the next generation of Windows during his keynote. According to Nadella, he had been self-hosting it for several months. He also teased that an official announcement would come very soon.
Just a week after Nadella's keynote, Microsoft started sending invites for a dedicated Windows event. The event will start at 11 AM ET on June 24.
Microsoft teased the next generation of Windows as being Windows 11 by posting an 11-minute Windows startup sound video to YouTube on June 10. The event starts at 11 AM, which is an unusual time for a Microsoft event. Many believed this was another hint.
On June 15, 2021, a beta build of Windows 11 was leaked online, which shows a very similar interface to the cancelled Windows 10X.

User interface
Windows 11 features an updated user interface which follows Microsoft's Fluent Design guidelines. Features of the new UI include centered taskbar, new start menu, and refreshed system icons.
