Malcolm Gladwell (born 1963) is an American journalist who has been a staff writer for the New Yorker since 1996. He is best known as the author of the bestseller The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference.
Gladwell was born in England; his mother is Jamaican. He was raised in Canada. He graduated with a degree in history from the University of Toronto in 1984. From 1987 to 1996, he was a science writer, and later the New York bureau chief, for the Washington Post. Gladwell currently lives in New York City.
In 2005 Gladwell published his second book, Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking. His writing deals frequently with the implications of curious sociological and scientific observations.
