Some things which I find less than helpful to the encyclopedia:
In many articles, there is a section on Religious views. There seems to be a strong bias in WP to show the Christian view always, often divided into Roman Catholic and Protestant; followed by the Judaic view and/or Islamic view. This does not reflect world distribution.
* '''Misuse of AGF''' AGF is not a suicide pact. If someone write a post with blatant personal attacks, signs another user's name, then starts posting in multiple places calling for the banning of the innocent party, they are a troll. Calling them such is not a failure to AGF: it is a logical deduction.

* '''Attacking the victim''' When a user is stalked, harassed, and otherwise badgered, and they eventually respond with a snippy comment, that is regrettable; but let's be clear on who the aggressor is in this type situation. The snowball should be to jump on the aggressor, and offer support to the frazzled victim.

* '''Mistaking Misplaced Pages for something else''' Misplaced Pages is an encyclopedia. While civility and friendliness make it a more pleasant working environment for the volunteers here, it is not primarily a social networking group who happens to be writing an encyclopedia. It is an encyclopedia being written by volunteers, who may upon occasion engage in friendly chit-chat.

Judaism at 14.5 million is less than 1% of the world population.

Please help with correcting this bias by adding religious views as appropriate. I am ''not'' suggesting the view of any religion which is less than 1% should be removed, or not added. I am merely suggesting that the major religions of the world are poorly represented, and the information is usually presented with a bias towards American distribution. At the very least '''Islam''' and '''Hinduism''' should be presented, and preferably '''Buddhism''' also. Chinese folk religion is a group, not a single religion, and as such a single "view" is virtually impossible to find. Tribal religions is also a group.

About KillerChihuahua

Friends, Thinkers, and (more or less) Reality oriented lifeforms, lend me thine ears! Long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, our country brought forth a child. Her ventures are not in one bottom trusted, nor to one place. Half a league, half a league, half a league onward, east of the sun and west of the moon, she traveled, until she came to rest in a strange and distant land. There among a great and august company she learned is no great genius without a tincture of madness. Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duty and so bear ourselves that if the British Commonwealth and Empire last for a thousand years, men will still say, 'This was their finest hour'. We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give. Therefore, ask not what your country can do for you, ask where shall we have Lunch?

Useful thoughts

  • On Talk:Evolution (regarding the high incidence of vandalism): I'm not suggesting that we lock up this page, but rather, continue to improve it so often that the vandalism edits are drowned in a sea of positive edits. --Cyde 00:10, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
