Foxrock (Carraig an tSionnaigh in Irish) is a suburb, formerly a separate village, in Dublin, Ireland, in the south of the city, in postal district Dublin 18.
It is known as a middle and upper middle class area with the majority of residents being professional people such as lawyers, engineers and businessmen. Most houses are large detached homes on varying amounts of land, the average being around 5,000 m². The village of Foxrock is famous for being the only village in Ireland without a pub. Unlike the well-heeled Dublin 4 area, Foxrock has no fee-paying schools of its own. Nevertheless, because the majority of Foxrock children attend private schools in Dublin 4, the suburb shares something of Dublin 4's reputation.
In recent years, with the enormous growth in the housing market in Ireland, the area has seen much building development as many residents have begun building new houses and even apartment blocks on part of their land, then selling them on at a usually very substantial profit.
The railway line from Dublin Harcourt Street to Bray formerly passed through Foxrock. Although the route has now been reopened as the Green Line of the Luas light rail system, it currently terminates at Sandyford, some 3 km short of Foxrock. There are, however, plans to extend the line.
