There was a time when Gangapur City was famous for loco workshop and wagon repair factory but after electrification of railways, loco workshop was closed.

] located on the ] had a special identity in the railways. The station here was the pride of the city due to the facilities and resources available here. Many high level offices were also operated including railway loco. With the ignorance of public representatives and due to ] of railways, the railway abolished ]. The staff in the carriage was also reduced. By the 80s, it had more than five thousand employees, while more than a hundred steam engines were operated. More than two thousand workers worked for engine repair. With the closure of railway factories and transfer of undertakings, the glory of the railways ended.
