The Baseball Channel is a planned television network to be seen in the United States on DirecTV and possibly on cable systems.

The channel, a joint venture of Major League Baseball and DirecTV, plans to launch for the 2009 season. It will carry a similar format to that of the NFL Network and NBA TV. Expected programming includes live games, classic re-broadcasts, newscasts and special programs.

Carriage of the Baseball Channel is being offered to cable systems in association with the renewal of MLB Extra Innings. However, the systems have objected to the strict terms under which the package is being offered.

The Baseball Channel is not to be confused with The Baseball Network, which was the name of the weekly MLB package that aired on ABC and NBC in the 1994 and 1995 seasons.
