Ruth Railton and Jessica Corner
Neither edit was vandalism. Please review and restore. 107.127.46.57 (talk) 03:55, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- You had added unsourced information, that is why I reverted it. Itcouldbepossible 03:56, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Nothing unsourced. Railton's married name (King) and Corner's middle name (Lois) are included in their articles. No reason not to include in Infobox or lead. 107.127.46.57 (talk) 04:02, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
Tech News: 2022-09
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- When searching for edits by change tags, e.g. in page history or user contributions, there is now a dropdown list of possible tags. This was a request in the 2022 Community Wishlist Survey.
- Mentors using the Growth Mentor dashboard will now see newcomers assigned to them who have made at least one edit, up to 200 edits. Previously, all newcomers assigned to the mentor were visible on the dashboard, even ones without any edit or ones who made hundred of edits. Mentors can still change these values using the filters on their dashboard. Also, the last choice of filters will now be saved.
- The user group
oversight
was renamedsuppress
. This is for technical reasons. You may need to update any local references to the old name, e.g. gadgets, links to Special:Listusers, or uses of NUMBERINGROUP.
Problems
- The recent change to the HTML of tracking changes pages caused some problems for screenreaders. This is being fixed.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 1 March. It will be on non-Misplaced Pages wikis and some Wikipedias from 2 March. It will be on all wikis from 3 March (calendar).
Future changes
- Working with templates will become easier. Several improvements are planned for March 9 on most wikis and on March 16 on English Misplaced Pages. The improvements include: Bracket matching, syntax highlighting colors, finding and inserting templates, and related visual editor features.
- If you are a template developer or an interface administrator, and you are intentionally overriding or using the default CSS styles of user feedback boxes (the classes:
successbox, messagebox, errorbox, warningbox
), please note that these classes and associated CSS will soon be removed from MediaWiki core. This is to prevent problems when the same class-names are also used on a wiki. Please let us know by commenting at phab:T300314 if you think you might be affected.

Thanks for your help
Hi there, thanks for preventing the vandalism of articles that I have edited to add Indigenous placenames in Australia. It's a lot of work doing the research and digging through the citations, and then politically motivated individuals can run through and delete it in seconds. It means a lot to me that you prevented that. Poketama (talk) 01:34, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks Poketama for your comment. I am really sorry for answering this late. I was actually on a wiki break. I actually revert a huge amount of vandalism, and so I don't remember which australian article you are taking about. Would you mind telling me the specified articles? It would help me in reverting more vandalism. Regards. Itcouldbepossible 12:10, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
No worries, you're not late at all! You reverted all these edits by an Anonymous user, which would have wiped alot of my work within a 30 minute period. https://en.wikipedia.org/Special:Contributions/220.244.117.3 Thanks. Poketama (talk) 05:13, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Poketama Thanks. I remember about those now. Itcouldbepossible 12:03, 4 March 2022 (UTC)

AWB
I saw your question on the Teahouse regarding AWB. I use it alot so if you have any questions do let me know. Rlink2 (talk) 19:51, 5 March 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Rlink2 Thanks for showing your interest to answer my question. Can you answer the same question that I asked at Teahouse. Also, what do you do using AWB? What type of edits do you make, and what parameters do you use for making a list? Itcouldbepossible 05:08, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
- AWB is a powerful tool that allows you to make mass edits across articles. For example, if you wanted to add a template to a bunch of articles, or remove an template, AWB could help you with that. It can also help fix typos, as you have discovered. AWB also has search and replace, so you can replace any given text with another one across all articles. I used this in Novemember to do some link repair regarding the web archiving service Archive.today. While archive.today is one website, they have mulitple domains, but the one Misplaced Pages should link to is "archive.today". Therefore, I used AWB to get all articles with the other domains of the same service, and replaced them with "archive.today". I also converted insecure HTTP to secure HTTPS links for two other web archiving services, archive.org and ghostarchive.org. Such tasks would be hard to do without AWB since the browser interface does not make it easy for mass edits like this. I mostly use AWB for preventing WP:LINKROT.
- Another popular use of AWB is categorization and filling in short descriptions for articles. I have not done this before with AWB, so if this is what you want to do you are better off asking someone experienced with AWB categorization.
- You can also customize AWB with a script to do something custom that AWB isn't able to do on its own. If you know what you want to do, you can easily create a script. Some might already have scripts they are willing to share.
- The way you make lists depend on what you want to do. If you are looking for all articles with something specific (for example: all articles with a lowercase "youtube" instead of YouTube), then create a search term and/or "regex" to find those articles. If you want to get all articles in a certain category (actual category or maintenance category), AWB can do that. if you want to find newly created articles, AWB can also do that. I really only use the search term functionality though, along with the data dumps (that's a slightly more advanced topic)
- If you want to get some practice with AWB and don't know what to do, there is plenty to do. I would recommend sticking with simple stuff (like the typo fixes) first just so you can get a hang of the tool. If you don't know what you are doing, the cleanup can be massive. So best to ease in to AWB usage with small steps.
- Hope that helps. Rlink2 (talk) 05:37, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Rlink2 Thanks man for such a detailed explanation. I never imagined you would be giving me such a detailed explanation.
- Ok, but for the time being, tell me something. Recently I have discovered Category:Pages using infobox television with unnecessary name parameter. I want to remove the name parameter from all such articles. I can make a list from a category. But how do I remove the name parameter from articles using AWB. I think that can be done as you said
For example, if you wanted to add a template to a bunch of articles, or remove an template, AWB could help you with that.
Can you tell me the procedure. Itcouldbepossible 05:43, 6 March 2022 (UTC)- Yes, that is possible. You would need to create something known as a regular expression. If you don't know how, there are some good tutorials. Maybe I can find some I like and share it with you. Otherwise, search up tutorials Google or DuckDuckGo. My favorite website for experimenting with regex is https://regexr.com/, you can paste the text and see if the regex matches it. An regex to remove the "name" parameter would be
"\|*name=*"
. You can find an explaination of the regex along with an example on https://regexr.com/6gq1i . To use this in AWB, you would put this in search and replace, and set it to replace any text in this format with a blank space. Note that the regex would remove this "name" parameter from any template, and not necessarily just the Television template, so just be careful that it doesnt remove a name template from a non-television infobox. If you see something like that in AWB, just double click on the wrong one on the top window and it will revert that one. I don't think the "name" parameter is used anywhere else other than TV infoboxes, so I don't think you will have to worry about it. Rlink2 (talk) 15:04, 6 March 2022 (UTC)- @Rlink2 Ok thanks. But what will I replace with what? I mean what parameter should I put in find and what parameter should I put in replace with? Itcouldbepossible 15:10, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
- Since you want to remove the name parmeter, you would replace it with nothing. The regex will find the parameter, that's the whole point. See Misplaced Pages:AutoWikiBrowser/User_manual#Find_and_replace for how to actually put this in.
- If you still need help, I can send you a config file that has everthing placed in, so you can learn by example Rlink2 (talk) 15:20, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Rlink2 Yes, I know how to do find and replace, but should I tick the box labelled as regex? Itcouldbepossible 15:23, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, i think. Rlink2 (talk) 15:51, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Rlink2 You can also send me the config file for AWB. How do you want to send it? Itcouldbepossible 15:27, 6 March 2022 (UTC)

- @Rlink2 Thanks a lot. I almost made 1000 edits today. Itcouldbepossible 12:17, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Rlink2 Can you tell me something more. I wanted to change http in pages to https. So in the normal settings, I set change http to https. But it ran into a lot of error. Http was being changed to https, but the https was being changed httpss. Can you tell me what to do? Also what was the need to use regex? We could have changed |name to a dash or blank space. How can I figure out what regex value to use. Lots of questions. Please answer them when you get time. Itcouldbepossible 12:19, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
Http was being changed to https, but the https was being changed httpss. Can you tell me what to do?
you need to make sure you replace http: (with the colon) with https: (with the colon) to avoid that issue. "http" is in "https" so if you dont add the colon that will happen. Keep in mind we should not be changing all websites to https, since some websites are still http only. I changed http to https for sites that I knew had an https and http connection avaliable (archive.org and ghostarchive.org). 99% of sites with HTTPS only offer HTTPS and HTTP will automatically redirect to the HTTPS version, so for most sites the change is not necessary. Also what was the need to use regex?
Well, if you just did "|name" without the regex, it wouldn't work when there are spaces in between (like " | name=TV show", or "| name = TV show". The regex has the capability to replace the name parameter even when there is spaces in between the parameter name, equal sign, and value of the parameter. How can I figure out what regex value to use.
There are good tutorials out there, but I can also find some and share them with you if you wish. Once you know the basics you can create a value that suits your operation. This link , https://regexr.com/6gs7g, explains what the regex I gave you does in detail (under the "explain" tab) Rlink2 (talk) 15:29, 7 March 2022 (UTC)- @Rlink2 Ok, I got what you said. Now can you provide me with some good tutorials? Also I can I use regexr.com to compute a regex value? Can you tell me the way? I am trying since the day. Itcouldbepossible 14:25, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
- http://regextutorials.com looks like a good resource to get started.
Also I can I use regexr.com to compute a regex value?
yes, once you know how to "compute a regex value". It's what I use to test the regex I made before putting it in AWB. Rlink2 (talk) 14:44, 8 March 2022 (UTC)- @Rlink2 Sorry, in my hurry I wrote in a wrong manner. I wanted to mean
Also how can I use regexr.com to computer or find a regex value.
Please answer it this way. Itcouldbepossible 16:11, 8 March 2022 (UTC)- Well you need to make the regex first. Once you do that, you can paste that into regexr.com along with the sample text (in this case, wikicode) and see if the match is correct. Rlink2 (talk) 17:48, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
- Ok and what and how do you do to fill in bare urls. 95% of your contributions are in for bare ref fixing. Is that also automatic? If yes, then how does AWB automatically find the archived urls? And how many config files do you own? Itcouldbepossible 01:59, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
- I have a config file for each editing task I do. So one for bare refs, and a couple for archiving/verifiability (since there are multiple types of those runs). So it adds up to being quite a few files.
- Yes, I used AWB to fill bare refs, and while I still could, I am choosing not to because there is a bot request for approval and I have other stuff to do. If I finish the other stuff, and the bot still isn't approved, maybe I could go back to filling refs. We'll see. Right now I'm working on some other tasks related to linkrot and wp:v with AWB.
Is that also automatic?
Well it fills in the bare refs automatically, but you still need to look at all your edits before submitting them to make sure its right.- Did you want to help with WP:LINKROT? There is alot of stuff to do. Rlink2 (talk) 03:51, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Rlink2 Ok. But how do you add the archives of urls using AWB.
- No, I am presently thinking of clearing the maintenance category that I am currently working on. I will think about working on linkrot later. Itcouldbepossible 13:37, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
But how do you add the archives of urls using AWB?
Using a more complicated regex.I am presently thinking of clearing the maintenance category that I am currently working on.
Keep up the good work, I saw you were doing some of that. Rlink2 (talk) 14:00, 9 March 2022 (UTC)

Please refrain from answering queries at Teahouse until you learn the correct information. One way to do this is to read existing Teahouse Q&As, including archived content. Then, start with replies only when you are sure of the correct information. It is not necessary to apply to be a Teahouse host (see Misplaced Pages:Teahouse/Host start), but do note that there is a recommendation to have had an account for more than 30 days, and edited more than 500 articles. David notMD (talk) 13:27, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
- @David notMD I actually meant they will leave the general remarks on the talk page of the author as to why the draft wasn't accepted. It is always written like your submission xxx was not accepted this time, and then the reason is written. Itcouldbepossible 13:55, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
- Actually, you are correct on this. When a reviewer posts a Decline on the draft page, it automatically posts the same message on the Talk page of the person who submitted it. I was thinking when I wrote my comment to you that the declining reviewer is not writing a post of the Talk page.
Also, do not submit other people's drafts. David notMD (talk) 13:30, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
- @David notMD Ok, but earlier, I have submitted others drafts also. Whats the wrong in doing that? Itcouldbepossible 13:54, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
- Creators of drafts may not be ready to have their draft sent to a reviewer, either because draft process not finished, or else have not fully addressed why the draft was declined. You are free to edit other people's drafts (which they may or may no appreciate) but not submit. David notMD (talk) 14:19, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
- @David notMD But he was asking for his draft to be reviewed. Itcouldbepossible 14:20, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
- Not exactly. He was asking at Teahouse for an opinion as to whether the revised draft was good enough to resubmit, not for someone to submit it. David notMD (talk) 14:24, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
- @David notMD And what about that leaving remarks thing. For example see my talk page archive for draft declined messages. Itcouldbepossible 14:52, 7 March 2022 (UTC)

Name parameter removal
Hi! You removed the name parameters from infoboxes in The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, which is fine for the first infobox, but leaves the second infobox (which should be "The Legacy of Reginald Perrin") with the wrong name. Do you have any checks as to whether the name parameter you remove is the same as the article title? - Ttwaring (talk) 14:29, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
- Also this edit has left the soundtrack infobox as "Untitled" in Familiar Wife. Ttwaring (talk) 15:55, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Ttwaring Oops, my first AWB mistake noted by someone else. Whenever I used to make mistakes, I used to undo it myself. But somehow this slipped from my eye. Thanks for bringing it on. For the first case, actually I have nothing to do. I removed the name parameter from articles with infobox television. So when I see an article having a name parameter and a television infobox, I remove the name parameter. But there are some cases which are rare and unexceptional like this. The second infobox has a different name. So, when the infobox takes the name from
{{PAGENAMEBASE}}
, it is the one which is needed. So to avoid this kind of error, I think I should be careful when I see two television infoboxes, and remove one manually. But the fun part is that I remember in maybe 5 or 6 articles there were two television infoboxes, and I had removed that swiftly without thinking about what problem would happen. So just waiting for more issues on to come up. - For the second case, it was my mistake. I didn't see in that I had removed the name paramter from infobox album parameter, which generally I manually undo, but this slipped from my eyes.
- Just to note, I have made all the necessary changes. You can check the pages again. Thanks again for bringing the issue to my talk page. It would be really nice if you look over my AWB edits. Regards, Itcouldbepossible 12:16, 15 March 2022 (UTC)

Recent changes
- In the Misplaced Pages Android app it is now possible to change the toolbar at the bottom so the tools you use more often are easier to click on. The app now also has a focused reading mode.
Problems
- There was a problem with the collection of some page-view data from June 2021 to January 2022 on all wikis. This means the statistics are incomplete. To help calculate which projects and regions were most affected, relevant datasets are being retained for 30 extra days. You can read more on Meta-wiki.
- There was a problem with the databases on March 10. All wikis were unreachable for logged-in users for 12 minutes. Logged-out users could read pages but could not edit or access uncached content then.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 15 March. It will be on non-Misplaced Pages wikis and some Wikipedias from 16 March. It will be on all wikis from 17 March (calendar).
- When using
uselang=qqx
to find localisation messages, it will now show all possible message keys for navigation tabs such as "View history". - Access to Special:RevisionDelete has been expanded to include users who have
deletelogentry
anddeletedhistory
rights through their group memberships. Before, only those with thedeleterevision
right could access this special page. - On the Special:Undelete pages for diffs and revisions, there will be a link back to the main Undelete page with the list of revisions.
Future changes
- The Wikimedia Foundation has announced the IP Masking implementation strategy and next steps. The announcement can be read here.
- The Misplaced Pages Android app developers are working on new functions for user talk pages and article talk pages.
Events

Removing unnecessary parameter Category:Pages using infobox television with unnecessary name parameter)
If you could share your find and replace for AWB, I'll try to take some chunks as well.Naraht (talk) 22:29, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Naraht Oh, it would be a pleasure. Thanks for showing your interest to help me. Could you send please send me a mail so that I can get your email. I can give you the config file in the return mail. I won't have asked for your email if Misplaced Pages had a system to attach files to the inbuilt mail system they have. I promise not to disturb you or harass you using your email. Just for sending the config file. And I am really sorry for the late reply. I should have replied earlier. Useful vs useless
Since you are doubling down, I can make an argument that reflecting the correct number of episodes is more useful for an encyclopedia than a purely cosmetic change like removing an unnecessary infobox parameter. I'm not interested in making that argument, I'm just pointing out that what's useful and useless is something that community decides and if you think something is useless, instead of badgering editors with such strongly worded comments, go start an RfC to make up consensus or work on a script/template-based solution or something else along those lines. Hemantha (talk) 03:58, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Hemantha Well yes, I could have done many things. But you know what, I wanted to make this as simple as possible and go step wise to solve the problem. Things like this are ought to be sorted out on user talk pages and not some discussion board or RFC. I could have put this up at the DRN or ANI, but always it is said to try and clear out the problem at the base. If not, then gradually steps can be taken, and finally the ArbCom is there to solve everything out here. So there is literally no need to create an RfC for this problem. You can ask anyone who is experienced in this matter. If aren't interested in this, then you can start an RfC yourself. And if you thing my contributions are not in favour of building up an encyclopedia, then sorry to say, you are highly wrong. I am working on a maintenance category, and there is a need to clear out the maintenance category. If my edits are 'purely cosmetic' then gosh!, so many editors edits will also be regarded as 'purely cosmetic' according to you. I hate to think the number of editors who regularly use AWB to do maintenance job and here you are saying those edits are purely cosmetic. And neither did I make any harsh comment, nor did I badger them with anything. If you see the first message that I wrote, it was just a general message and not something really rough. I told him not to update episode counts everyday, but never told him don't you ever update episode counts. And I linked him to the task center so that he knows what else he can do, if he doesn't already know about it. Which one do you think are strongly worded comments? And if you still regard these as strong comments, then you might want to know that, many editors made stronger comments on my talk page at the beginning of my career, but I didn't complain about those. In comparison with those, the comments I made are really simple and civil. As a matter of fact, you showed that you are botherless in this matter by telling Pri2000 to freely remove the discussion from his talk page. Now I can call this as uncivil and say you, of all the people, are no one to ask someone to remove a discussion from their talk page or call the whole discussion irrelevant especially when consensus is yet to be reached, since it looks like you didn't pay any heed to my words, and instead tried to encourage Pri2000 in whatever he is trying to do.
- I am also requesting comments from all talk page watchers, both mine and Pri2000's. Also pinging Nick Moyes, Bonadea, FormalDude, David Biddulph, ClaudineChionh, Primefac, DanCherek, Rlink2, JBW, Girth Summit for commenting regarding this matter. Regards. Itcouldbepossible 04:59, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- The amount of mischaracterisation, in what little I read, of my fairly small and neutral post shows that this discussion isn't productive. I'll only say that if I see something like that original post again from you, I'll revert and if continued, report you to appropriate boards for assumption of bad faith and WP:PA. Hemantha (talk) 05:12, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- Hemantha Please, don't drag these things further, when the reply of the user being talked about does not come. It seems that you are deliberately dragging this thing, you seem to have some personal interest. If you have any problem then direct contact with Admin..– B203GTB • (talk) • 05:43, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- Hmm? What am I dragging further? Since my first post, I was asking ICBP to drop this, but he's continued his baseless claims of "useless" and "not improving articles" more and more vocally. Your own contribution there wasn't as helpful as you'd think and shows your comment here in poor, partisan light. Hemantha (talk) 05:55, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- Ok, so the comment that you made on my talk page was really nice and civil, and the comment that I made on Pri2000's talk was really bad? Now let me make something straight Hemanta. I am really at a fail to understand what you are trying to do, but whatever you are doing or saying is not in the right way. You must understand how the community works, instead of just taking things in your own way. You are a lot senior to me, but still I have to say that any further unruly comment made by you in this regard would leave me no option except to open a case against you at ANI. I really don't want to go that way for I respect both you and your presence here. I really don't see why you would want to get into trouble. The discussion was going between me and Pri2000, and suddenly you came in and now we are fighting, and the funny thing is that this case has nothing to do with you. So now you can choose your own path. Regards, Itcouldbepossible 12:17, 19 March 2022 (UTC)

Sorry for pinging so many editors. FormalDude has informed me off-wiki that I am making a bigger deal of this than is necessary, and I've decided to let it go. Itcouldbepossible 17:09, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, this was the right choice. I had a detailed response typed up but the best option is to let this go and any further commmentary may rekindle this unnecessary debate.
- Thanks to @FormalDude for also helping to deflate the situation. Rlink2 (talk) 17:33, 19 March 2022 (UTC)

CSD G5s
Hello, Itcouldbepossible,
Please review WP:G5. Do not tag a page as a CSD G5 unless it is the page creation of a confirmed sockpuppet of a ban-evading editor and the article does not have substantial contributions from other editors. If the page creator has not been blocked for sockpuppetry or if there is no sockmaster identified who is evading a block, a page can't be tagged CSD G5. If you just suspect sockpuppetry and it hasn't been confirmed, please don't tag a page CSD G5. If other editors have worked on the article, it shouldn't be tagged CSD G5. Every page tagged for speedy deletion has to be reviewed by an administrator and it wastes time when pages are inappropriately tagged. Thank you for all of your contributions to Misplaced Pages. - There is a new public status page at www.wikimediastatus.net. This site shows five automated high-level metrics where you can see the overall health and performance of our wikis' technical environment. It also contains manually-written updates for widespread incidents, which are written as quickly as the engineers are able to do so while also fixing the actual problem. The site is separated from our production infrastructure and hosted by an external service, so that it can be accessed even if the wikis are briefly unavailable. You can read more about this project.

- @Eximuser Hi, could I know what you are talking about here? Itcouldbepossible 10:47, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hi,
- We've been trying to submit a page about established trade bank "Euro Exim Bank" (EEB) however it is always flagged as advertorial. We've used sources that reference EEB such as Forbes, and simply stated the year it was established and the location of head office. What is the issue here? Do we need more sources? Eximuser (talk) 10:03, 19 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Eximuser Good evening! I totally understand what you are saying. I problem here is that your draft or what you are creating looks like you are advertising about the bank. Sources doesn't always contribute to improving the article. You have to write in a neutral point of view. A more detailed help can be got at the Teahouse. Just click on the Ask a question button and state your problem. Experienced users out there can help you out in this situation. Itcouldbepossible 13:32, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

- Thanks a lot Atlantic306 for reviewing my article. I have always been mesmerized by your great page reviewing work. On so many talk pages, I see your messages about improving articles and from that I have known you since. I really appreciate your work. But here, would you please spend your valuable time in explaining what you meant by
Please add details of reviews of the series in reliable sources
. What reviews do you want me to add? For example, my other TV articles like Sona Roder Gaan, Nayantara (TV series), Aalta Phoring or Harano Sur (TV series) are like the subject article. So could you please elaborate on what you said. I can start working on it. Yours sincerely, Itcouldbepossible 04:38, 15 April 2022 (UTC)- Hi thankyou for your kind words and great content work. By reviews I mean a critical reception section such as you would see in a film article that summarises reviews of the show in reliable sources such as The Hindu, New Indian Express and other newspapers and magazines (non-English sources are ok as well). If your articles have such a section they are more likely to survive an AfD discussion than they would without it because critical reception is given a higer value than general news stories, regards Atlantic306 (talk) 22:22, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

IAbot stuck
Sorry for this as well as the pings, I just want to make sure you see this even if you have pings turned off. On meta:User talk:InternetArchiveBot#Stalled on job 9878 I have raised an issue with IABot being stuck. Of course, you aren't a maintainer of IABot, but you do have the ability to "kill" the job, as you had created the job (for fixing up Donald Trump). If you could please try to do so, it may get the bot unstuck, as it has been stuck for more than two weeks now. I don't think that you particularly caused this issue, but you may be able to help fix it nonetheless. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 02:40, 24 April 2022 (UTC)

Jordan Hattar
Hi—I am in the process of building out the Hattar page. I saw you nominated it for deletion. Online there are many reputable sources discussing his activism. I will add them over the next few days, so I would very much appreciate if the page was not deleted before then, as he is certainly a person notable enough as a public figure to have one. — Preceding unsigned comment added by VoicesofSyria (talk • contribs) 06:55, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- @VoicesofSyria Sorry, but you have misunderstood something. I did not nominate it for deletion. Agtx nominated the page for deletion, in this edit. So you have to talk about this to that specified user. You can also voice your opinion, on the delete discussion page. You can also write on his talk page telling him to close the AFD. I have also pinged him to this page. Lets see what he replies. When he replies, I will also send a ping to you to initiate to you that he has replied. For the time, you tell all this on the AFD page. Itcouldbepossible 08:34, 29 April 2022 (UTC)

Your Teahouse response
I'm not familiar with the expression "Don't bother yourself to ping me" you used here. It's obvious you want people to ask you for help if they need it, but it almost seems like the opposite. Yes, I'm way behind reading archives.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 20:12, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Vchimpanzee. Thanks for asking about this matter. I wonder how you found such a past archive and why you were reading through all the Teahouse archives, but anyway. Regarding this matter, a lot has been discussed on my talk page which is now in my archive folder. Yes, I didn't want to mean that. Just because of my weak phrasing, things turned our wrong, actually English is my third language, you have to consider this fact. Regards, Itcouldbepossible 02:21, 12 May 2022 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – May 2022
News and updates for administrators from the past month (April 2022).
|
|
- Following an RfC, a change has been made to the administrators inactivity policy. Under the new policy, if an administrator has not made at least 100 edits over a period of 5 years they may be desysopped for inactivity.
- Following a discussion on the bureaucrat's noticeboard, a change has been made to the bureaucrats inactivity policy.
- The ability to undelete the associated talk page when undeleting a page has been added. This was the 11th wish of the 2021 Community Wishlist Survey.
- A public status system for WMF wikis has been created. It is located at https://www.wikimediastatus.net/ and is hosted separately to WMF wikis so in the case of an outage it will remain viewable.
- Remedy 2 of the St Christopher case has been rescinded following a motion. The remedy previously authorised administrators to place a ban on single-purpose accounts who were disruptively editing on the article St Christopher Iba Mar Diop College of Medicine or related pages from those pages.

Read BANREVERT, PROXY, and DENY
Dear Itcouldbepossible, I was surprised by your templating of my talk page. Please read WP:BANREVERT, WP:DENY, and WP:PROXYING very carefully. Yes, I removed additions by the sock such as this. The sock did not fix vandalism, but added various new materials to the page. This falls squarely within BANREVERT. Reverting sock additions is standard practice. Please read PROXYING extremely carefully, among other things you take fully responsiblity for the sock's content you place back in and if any of it is bad, has copyright problem, or does not match up with sources, you are entirely responsible for it as if you made it yourself. --Chuka Chieftalk 15:52, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
SPI archiving
Hi - I recognise that you reverted yourself, but just to be clear, please do not archive SPI cases. Don't attempt to do any maintenance or clerking at SPI - only SPI clerks and checkusers are authorised to do stuff like that. Girth Summit (blether) 12:22, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Girth Summit Yes, yes, I understand that totally. I didn't know that the spihelper would instantly do the task. Like, I tried watching how the spihelper works in SPI cases, so I clicked 'spihelper' from the more tab. There I saw many actions, satisfied myself a bit, and then clicked cancel. I wanted to the same thing here too. I thought there would be some option to 'save' the archive, and didn't at the least know that it would be a on click action. I am really sorry for what I have done. I even couldn't clearly write the edit summary, as I had clicked the 'enter' key by mistake. Sorry about that too. And to avoid myself from indulging in such action again, I am uninstalling spihelper so that I don't have the urge to act like a clerk at SPI. Thanks for telling me about this. Regards, Itcouldbepossible 12:52, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- Actually you know what, I am burning to be an SPI clerk. I know that maybe what I have said something really funny, but still I cannot stop myself from wondering how I can be one. I even posted a message regarding it the SPI clerk noticeboard to know how one can prepare to be a SPI clerk. Now, naturally, the question that would arise, why me out of so many out here? And that is what I also want to know. I how can I prove that I deserve to be an SPI clerk, how can I bring myself to such a position that people wouldn't question, why is he wanting to be an SPI clerk? And in all that desires and wishes, I thought of seeing how spihelper works, and that brought me in doing that archiving edit. Itcouldbepossible 13:01, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- It's not really about 'deserving' to be an SPI clerk, it's about demonstrating a sufficient level of knowledge and judgment. It's not something that you should try to rush into - read the advice that MarioGom pointed you towards, and then contribute towards SPI by making concise and well-evidenced reports as and when you come across sockpuppetry.
- Thanks for uninstalling that script - there really isn't any point in anyone having it installed aside from the three classes of users noted in the documentation - SPI clerks, patrolling admins and checkusers. I can't think of any actions the script performs that a regular editor would be permitted to carry out. Girth Summit (blether) 13:09, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Girth Summit Yes, I am going to read what MarioGom has asked me to read. I always on the watch for sockpuppets, but as you know, my area of interest is really limited, but still there are bunches of socks and LTAs, as you might know. But I try and guess for any sockpuppetry and file them at once. Well, is there any way by which I can find all the SPI cases I have I filed? Is there any way, I can link them all up to a subpage of my userpage, to keep a track of all SPI cases that I have started? And what are 'patrolling admins'? Itcouldbepossible 13:21, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- This is a list of all the project space pages you have edited - it can be sorted alphabetically, so you can see all the SPI cases you've edited. Patrolling admins are just that - admins who patrol SPI and take action based on the filings. Girth Summit (blether) 13:41, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Girth Summit Thanks for the page. But I cannot figure out how I can sort the page? I don't see a sort option. Itcouldbepossible 13:59, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- Just click at the top of one of the columns, an option to sort by that column should appear. Girth Summit (blether) 14:04, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the additional help. Itcouldbepossible 14:11, 14 May 2022 (UTC)

@Girth Summit: Recently I saw many new cases being open against the LTA Blogs19 by you. Is there a specific way you find about them? Does those account make edits on pages that you watch, and they get caught? Or how do you find accounts that edit in the same way as the previous socks edit? Is there a specific algorithm that you follow? Itcouldbepossible 14:19, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- See WP:CHECKUSER. I'm not at liberty to go into the specifics I'm afraid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Girth Summit (talk • contribs)
- Girth Summit Well, if you don't want to discuss this matter, there must be a specific reason, and you are totally free to. Thanks for all the help and support you provided to me. Best, Itcouldbepossible 15:03, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- It's not about not wanting to discuss it. If you read that link, you'll see that I'm not able to disclose information I can see with the CU tool to anyone who isn't another CU - policy means that I can't discuss it with you. Girth Summit (blether) 15:06, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Girth Summit Ok, after reading all that, I can know understand why you cannot talk about it with me. Thanks for pointing me to that policy, lest I was thinking that I was not experienced enough to understand the facts. Now it is clear to me. Thanks again for removing doubts from my mind. I am quite interested to know why this article has been put in the draft space. May you explain? Surix321 (talk) 10:22, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
- I put that article to draftspace, because they meet WP:DRAFTIFY. If you want a more detailed explanation, then here it goes. Your article maybe notable, but to be an article is has to meet the basic quality standards that are expected here on Misplaced Pages. Secondly your article is way behind in 'being an article'. The topic of the article cannot be determined as well. And using only book as sources won't do the work. The sources must be verifiable. How can we verify the sources? And moreover, if it would have stayed in mainspace, it would have been speedily deleted. I moved it to draftspace, so that you could work on it without any one interfering you in between. Your article literally doesn't convey anything. Can you explain me what the article is on? Also a minimum amount of content is required to qualify itself as an article. Your article must also show some significance or it would be CSDed under the WP:A7 criteria. Does these clear all your doubts? Please don't hesitate to ask me if something is unclear to you. Best, Itcouldbepossible 11:17, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hello Itcouldbepossible, Thank you for reaching out to me and clarifying why the article was moved to draftspace.
- About your questions;
- Well the topic is about a Montenegrin Warlord in the 19th century. I will work on improving the sources by using websites and other sorts of references. This article is about a warrior as I stated here and I will be adding to his military career and other sorts of things. I've already improved it but will work more.
- Furthermore I will message you when I have recompleted this article.
- Cheers, Surix321 Surix321 (talk) 20:07, 16 May 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter May 2022
Hello Itcouldbepossible,
At the time of the last newsletter (No.26, September 2021), the backlog was 'only' just over 6,000 articles. In the past six months, the backlog has reached nearly 16,000, a staggering level not seen in several years. A very small number of users had been doing the vast majority of the reviews. Due to "burn-out", we have recently lost most of this effort. Furthermore, several reviewers have been stripped of the user right for abuse of privilege and the articles they patrolled were put back in the queue.
Several discussions on the state of the process have taken place on the talk page, but there has been no action to make any changes. The project also lacks coordination since the "position" is vacant.
In the last 30 days, only 100 reviewers have made more than 8 patrols and only 50 have averaged one review a day. There are currently 813 New Page Reviewers, but about a third have not had any activity in the past month. All 847 administrators have this permission, but only about a dozen significantly contribute to NPP.
This means we have an active pool of about 450 to address the backlog. We cannot rely on a few to do most of the work as that inevitably leads to burnout. A fairly experienced reviewer can usually do a review in a few minutes. If every active reviewer would patrol just one article per day, the backlog would very quickly disappear.
If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Misplaced Pages notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page.
If you are no longer very active on Misplaced Pages or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Recent changes
- Administrators using the mobile web interface can now access Special:Block directly from user pages.
- The www.wiktionary.org portal page now uses an automated update system. Other project portals will be updated over the next few months.
Problems
- The Growth team maintains a mentorship program for newcomers. Previously, newcomers weren't able to opt out from the program. Starting May 19, 2022, newcomers are able to fully opt out from Growth mentorship, in case they do not wish to have any mentor at all.
- Some editors cannot access the content translation tool if they load it by clicking from the contributions menu. This problem is being worked on. It should still work properly if accessed directly via Special:ContentTranslation.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 24 May. It will be on non-Misplaced Pages wikis and some Wikipedias from 25 May. It will be on all wikis from 26 May (calendar).
Future changes
- Gadget and user scripts developers are invited to give feedback on a proposed technical policy aiming to improve support from MediaWiki developers.

Page mover granted
Hello, Itcouldbepossible. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.
Please take a moment to review Misplaced Pages:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect
is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.
Useful links:
- Misplaced Pages:Requested moves
- Category:Requested moves, for article renaming requests awaiting action.
If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Arbitrarily0 07:10, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
New Page Reviewing
Hello, Itcouldbepossible.
I've seen you editing recently and you seem like an experienced Misplaced Pages editor. |
- Thanks Zippybonzo for this offer. But at this moment, I am not prepared for this right. I would like to gain more experience working at this project, then surely, at some point of time, I would request to be a new page reviewer. For the time, I would like to continue reviewing new pages without this right, just like a normal user. Because, you know, with more user rights, comes more responsibility, which I think, I will not be able to handle at this moment. Thanks for asking me about this. You are also a good and experienced user, and I try to follow you always. I am currently under a mentorship, and am currently being trained to be a AFC reviewer and New Page Reviewer. After the mentoring finishes, and I gain some experience with all the guidelines and policies, and after I have participated in quite a few number of AFDs, I am going to request for that right. Best, Itcouldbepossible 08:43, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
- Well, I won’t complain, I am sure that there is more responsibility, because I have lots of it already, but I can tell you have a lot to do that I don’t. But at least it is on your mind. 😉 | Zippybonzo | Talk | 16:21, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Zippybonzo I don't find that you are complaining. It is normal for you to do so. You found a user whom you thought could be a good NPR and you are inviting the user. Nothing wrong from your part. But let me tell you something more. When I wasn't a rollbacker, there wasn't much complaining when I made a wrong revert. But when I became a rollbacker, making wrong reverts would get me in problem. Same when I became a pending changes reviewer. Accept wrong page edits and you will fall in trouble. Now I am a page mover, and making wrong page moves will be troublesome for me. So it works this way. I had once requested to become a new page reviewer but I had to withdraw that. Moreover, my mentor told me to work as an AFC reviewer before going for NPR. And tell me something. How did I come to your notice? And you said,
I can tell you have a lot to do that I don’t
. What is there that I can do, but you cannot? Move pages without keeping a redirect (only that is what I can do, but you cannot)XD Itcouldbepossible 09:06, 25 May 2022 (UTC)- Well, I must say that you are a very good editor, and I somewhat look up to you, so the feeling is mutual. Anyway, good luck with your editing and I hope our paths cross in the future, and I think you would be welcome at NPP. 😃 | Zippybonzo | Talk | 14:06, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for your support Zippy. I also wish that sometime in the near future we can work together and help each other in clearing off the huge backlog of unreviewed pages. The moment I get the 'green flag' from my mentor, I am going to apply for NPP. Good luck to you too. May you be one of the best new page reviewers and be admired by people on this multiverse project. Sincerely, Itcouldbepossible 05:10, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
