== Canvassing and other expectations about offwiki behavior ==

Hey! I see you're a relatively new editor. Seeing as you are involved in a topic area that is subject to a lot of offwiki disruption, I figured I'd give you a message about some of the rules regarding offwiki behavior.

Never participate in what's called ] canvassing (ie. posting about an onwiki discussion on a different website or in a private communication in order to get likeminded editors to join your side). Misplaced Pages relies on ] which gets ] when users join a discussion just to push a single ] (or to "correct" a perceived issue with an article's POV).

Don't disparage your fellow editors offwiki. This is called ] and violates ]. Misplaced Pages is built on the trust and ] among its contributors, but that can't happen if one editor violates that trust by writing disparaging remarks.

If you are aware of any editor violating these rules (], ], or ]) offwiki, then you should immediately ] (do not report them to me; I am not an admin). If you believe you may have at all violated any of these policies/guidelines unknowingly, then I recommend discreetly taking down the offending posts and avoid repeating that behavior for the future.

Move

Hi. I hope you don't mind my minor change so the discussion is a little less confusing (under one sentence to not give an impression of two separate votes). Feel free to revert if you don't want this way. Cheers! ZaniGiovanni (talk) 12:32, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

Thank you for the edit!! I was wondering how to fix this. I'm actually new to the Misplaced Pages process. It seems really clunky to edit your comments after you made them. Is there a better way other than going through the source code? I prefer the visual editor. Humanatbest (talk) 12:56, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
I don't think there is any better way to edit your comments after you've made them. You can try enabling "New wikitext mode" from Beta features (don't forget to click "Save" after enabling down below), it changes the text editor similar to visual editor, but I personally don't like it. Enjoy your stay here and good editing. ZaniGiovanni (talk) 13:02, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

Alert

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in Armenia, Azerbaijan, or related conflicts. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Misplaced Pages's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Canvassing and other expectations about offwiki behavior

Hey! I see you're a relatively new editor. Seeing as you are involved in a topic area that is subject to a lot of offwiki disruption, I figured I'd give you a message about some of the rules regarding offwiki behavior.

Never participate in what's called WP:STEALTH canvassing (ie. posting about an onwiki discussion on a different website or in a private communication in order to get likeminded editors to join your side). Misplaced Pages relies on consensus building which gets disrupted when users join a discussion just to push a single point of view (or to "correct" a perceived issue with an article's POV).

Don't disparage your fellow editors offwiki. This is called off-wiki harrassment and violates the no personal attacks policy. Misplaced Pages is built on the trust and good faith among its contributors, but that can't happen if one editor violates that trust by writing disparaging remarks.

If you are aware of any editor violating these rules (WP:CANVASS, WP:HARASS, or WP:NPA) offwiki, then you should immediately report them to the users who handle those issues (do not report them to me; I am not an admin). If you believe you may have at all violated any of these policies/guidelines unknowingly, then I recommend discreetly taking down the offending posts and avoid repeating that behavior for the future.
