Rebecca Ann King (b. 1950, Hancock, Iowa) is most noted as holder of the 1974 Miss America title. Heralding the arrival of feminism in this most traditional of events, Rebecca King was a law student, who famously expressed feminist political views at the Miss America Pageant's morning-after breakfast following her crowning. Most contestants in Miss America and other beauty pageants are conservative women (i.e. Anita Bryant, who became a notorious anti-gay activist), but Rebecca Ann King was a liberal Miss America, especially for her times, and was pro-choice. Never again would another Miss America be liberal and very few have been political. Miss America 2003 Erika Harold spoke at the 2004 Republican National Convention.
